[You may have seen this very loud blue-haired man around. He's new, but he's hard to miss considering his size and bombastic nature. Right now, he's puttering around some shops on Eltrut...specifically any shops that offer custom goods. He's clearly assessing quality.]

Still figuring out how to use this damn thing...is it on?

[He stops a random passerby to inquire and...yes! They confirm that his video is sending! The hurry along their way because who just asks random strangers things? Weirdos, that's who.]

Alright! So, I've been around for a month or so and I think I've got my sea legs well enough to take the plunge here. For those of you who don't know, name's Darin Altway and I just happen to be a Master Blacksmith! What does that mean for you? Well, if you need tools or gear, then I'm your man! And trust me, my work is affordable and of the utmost quality. Even better news, I come from a port town so I know my way around a ship! So if you need something for your ships that those around here just can't provide...

[He leans in towards the camera conspiratorially.]

Blacksmith?

What exactly is that?

You've never heard of a blacksmith?

[He sounds scandalized and a touch insulted.]

Alright, fine! I'll tell you! Blacksmiths are molders of pure potential! Where other people see rocks, we see limitless possibilities! With our hammers, we can turn the tides of battle and our forges stoke the flames of the future!

So... you build things? Am I getting that right?

Not 'things!' Dreams! We build dreams! Custom equipment, peerless tools, if it's made of metal, we give it shape, form, and purpose!

But, you physically make things. Out of metal.

I mean, yeah, if you wanna be boring about it.

It's not boring. It's just more informative.

Okay okay, for simplicity's sake, yes. I forge things with metal. Armor, weapons, tools, ship parts, you name it, I can probably do it.

What about repairs?

Sure, that's easy enough provided I have the right materials. Did you need something fixed?

Mm, materials... might be a problem.

Dented some armor on my suit, a while ago. Haven't found someone to get it to fit properly, and honestly - if my hardsuit goes, I'm going to have a hell of a time finding any pants that fit.

Armor shouldn't be a problem to fix. I'd have to examine the materials and see if I can substitute anything comparable. If not, I can make you something tailor made. I tailor all of my equipment to the individual. I don't believe in "one size fits all."

That's good. I'm not a one-size kind of guy.

I'm not certain about work, but there is certainly going to be quite a bit to be found by a craftsman. Either on land, or on a ship.

For materials, however, depending on where you are, the markets closest to your local port will almost certainly have any rare, or obscure materials that you might want and need.

Is there anything specific that you specialize in?

Yeah, I've scoped out the markets. They've got some good things but the prices are a little out of my range, considering I just splashed down. I'd be better off sourcing my own stuff. I saw that there were some job openings too...

Maybe I'll try my hand at a little merc work like my old man...

[Said more to himself than anything but he continues.]

Oh, specialize? I guess you could say I specialize in tailor made equipment. Weapons, armor, tools...things of that nature. Everything I make is custom fit for the customer. I've worked on armor plating and other parts for ships too. Honestly, I can manage pretty much anything if it's made of metal.

I dabble in wood in leather too but that's just because I like working with my hands. The leatherwork comes in handy with armor though.

Probably. Birds aren't exactly common where I'm from.

if one wanted to have a look at your work before ordering anything, where can they find you?

Honestly, I think it would be better to seek out things that you're most familiar with. It can make getting used to a new place, and let others learn more about you, easier.

[She hums, of course, he seemed to be looking to do just that. But with his mutterings, Enty figured that she could add in her own, two cents.]

Hm, I see... that's quite a list of things, still a good craftsman is hard to come by. Have you had the chance to make anything recently that you can use as an example of your skills? Metal or otherwise?

Eh, not really. See, I can't just waltz into someone else's forge and demand to use it. That's bad etiquette with smiths. It'd be like walking into the kitchen at a restaurant and telling the head chef to take five while you worked. I may be good at what I do, but I'm not the type to just take over someone else's business.

Not unless I saw they were doing something unscrupulous or selling intentionally shoddy gear at a premium. I call that crap out quick and I don't care whose shop I'm in.

Either way...if they're hiring, that's a different story. So maybe I should see if anyone needs something done so I can strut my stuff.

Well, I'm currently docked at Eltrut but I haven't had the chance to actually make something yet. Instead, I could at least take you around the shops and show you what I do know. Showcase my experience that way.

Anyway, I can definitely take a look at your gear and see what I can patch up. At the very worst, I can figure out what I'd need and source the materials from there. Pretty standard job, honestly. Even with your knees bending the other way!

Works for me. If there's real combat, hate to get caught with a bad piece. Now that would be embarrassing.
