This is Alhaitham.

Kaveh and I are hosting a celebration as detailed above. RSVP with him if you wish to attend so that we can make the necessary arrangements. You may also do the same with me, but note that I have changed my shellphone ID to the one you currently see.

[...and yeah he's just gonna end it there. Eloquent as always, huh?]

Now, how could I refuse that?

[Kaveh presses his face into Alhaitham's hair, trying to hide the blush and giddy smile on his face to no avail. This man is so open and affectionate and so needy. It's bad for his heart. Even as he loosely winds his arms around Alhaitham's neck and shoulders and settles comfortably on his lap.

He never had imagined things could be so sweet between them, not since they were students.]

[Alhaitham is more than happy to stay like this, holding onto Kaveh like an oversized teddy bear while they exist in this tranquil, warm and loving silence. He'd always been clingy in bed, unapologetically wrapping all four of his limbs around Kaveh in almost all the time that they've been sleeping here together, but now he is absolutely taking advantage of the fact that he is able to do this out of bed too, for no other reason beyond simply wanting it. It has been liberating in the most wonderful way.

He remains holding onto Kaveh and nuzzling against him for as long as possible, even as his shellphone starts to buzz with the inevitable influx of messages that come in response to what he's posted.]

[And Kaveh, who hates being still, is for once content to be held here, drinking in Alhaitham's warmth and affection. Once, long ago, he had a version of this, more fragile and innocent, and lost it--he still can't quite believe it, that he could have this again. More than what he lost, even, gentle and resilient with understanding.

He laughs a bit as Alhaitham's phone begins to buzz, and presses a kiss to his temple.]

Seems you're popular today.

[Alhaitham grunts at the tease and nuzzles more insistently into Kaveh's neck. He knows he did kind of ask for this considering the fact that he posted, but still.]

Maybe I'll take the divan after all. [With Kaveh's lap as his pillow.]

Bring the phone with you and respond to some of them before you fall asleep, Haitham.

[Not that Kaveh's chiding is particularly serious, given he's combing fingers through Alhaitham's hair.]

[Oh he always likes having Kaveh's fingers in his hair. Alhaitham hums in a mix of contentment and contemplation, nudging his head against Kaveh's hand to encourage him further.]

I'll do it if you return the favor.

[Kaveh is on his lap right now, after all.]

Of course. [Though he's not going to stop petting Alhaitham until they move. He really is just like a cat...

...He's sure Shadowlily will do fine with him.]

[Alhaitham may act like a cat but he will continue to deny being one to his last breath.

And as much as he does like having Kaveh in his lap and is happy to keep on doing it, it is also a fact that Kaveh is still a fairly hefty man despite what others might think otherwise, and there is only so long Alhaitham can let that much weight sit on his thighs before he feels them start to cramp up.

So when that happens Alhaitham lets out a sigh, reluctance fully showing through as he nudges Kaveh off his lap so that can migrate over to the divan instead.]

[Kaveh doesn't argue, though he sighs a little himself at having to move. Still, the divan will be more comfortable, and he snags one of Alhaitham's books on the way. Not that he suspects much reading will be done, but best to be prepared.

Once they're in the living room, he sits, and pats his lap invitingly. He knows what they're here for.]

[It only takes a few short steps to get to the living room from where they are, and Alhaitham lets Kaveh settle down first before joining him, taking that obvious cue to lie down and promptly rest his head on his senior's lap.]

Hmm. [A hum as he takes a moment to shift, making himself as comfortable as he can.] Still a little bony, but it's good enough.

Oh, is this why you keep pestering me about eating more? I see your schemes now, Alhaitham.

[The comment gets him a little tug on his ear, but Kaveh resumes petting through his hair shortly after.]

[Alhaitham is completely unapologetic about his remark, and he shows as much by not reacting to the tug at his ear. Instead he closes his eyes and hums at the touch, allowing himself to enjoy this just a bit more even as his shellphone continues to vibrate against where he has it resting on his stomach.

He'll get to actually responding in a bit, he promises.]

Lazy...

[Kaveh huffs, but his voice is unmistakeably dripping with fondness, running his hand through Alhaitham's hair and even pulling his fringe back out of his eyes a bit. He can't help but be fond of this ridiculous man. His husband...

...he likes the sound of that.]

[The admonition does nothing at all when the words themselves are so full of fond affection, and in the face of that the only thing that Alhaitham can do is to let a faint smile come onto his face. He's never shied away from the fact that he enjoys having Kaveh's attention, and to know now that it is something that his senior will give willingly... he likes it very much.]

You're the one encouraging it. [He murmurs after a beat, eyes still closed as he continues to soak in the attention that Kaveh is giving to him. It's still early enough that he doesn't really feel any of his usual drowsiness yet, but he's sure its just a matter of time, especially with how nice the architect's hand continues to feel in his hair.]

Yes...but you said you'd answer your phone before you fell asleep, Haitham.

[He says this, but Kaveh's lightly scritched at Alhaitham's scalp as he does, so who's really encouraging this laziness here?]

[Alhaitham hums for a moment, as if thinking about it even though what he really does is to tilt his head up to further entourage that hand.]

I might be persuaded into it with a kiss.

[Yes, he is being this shameless.]

Shameless. Lean up a little?

[Because it'll be more comfortable when Kaveh leans down to kiss him and reward this bad behavior.]

[Kaveh's response is enough to tell Alhaitham that he's won here, and he shows as much with a quirk of his lips before he shifts to lean up as asked so that he can have his requested kiss. And if it lingers for far longer than what a single kiss should take, his hand coming up to rest at the back of Kaveh's neck to keep him close... well, nobody else is here to see, or know.]

[Kaveh's certainly in no position to call him out on it, only really pulling away when the angle really makes his back complain.]

You are a menace.

Mmn. You say that, but I don't hear you complaining.

[Totally gonna call Kaveh out on that. Complete with smile and a mischievous gleam in his eyes.]

I may not be complaining, but I will get even, Alhaitham.

[That is a promise and a threat.]

I look forward to it.

I'm sure you do. Now, keep your promises.

[For now, the noseboop of justice.]

[Alhaitham huffs and wrinkles his nose at the boop, but doesn't try to argue any further as he picks up his shellphone and gets it back to the post. It only takes a moment from there for the rhythmic sounds of tap tap tap to come up as Alhaitham starts responding to the replies that are already there.]

[It's fine, he will be rewarded with more scalp scritches. And Kaveh leaning slightly to read Alhaitham's screen, which leads to--]

...I wonder if adepti exist in other worlds?

[Because how else do we explain Daqiang?]
