Been here a while. It's great exploring and meeting so many people I wouldn't have back home. Don't get me wrong.

I just can't help being homesick. Or, I guess, at least, missing my best friend. I know not everyone else here has ended up together with their friends or family. How has everyone else been dealing with it? Mikleo and I were together all the time back home, before I ended up here.

[Except that One Time they fought about Mikleo becoming a Sub Lord and joining Sorey in the pact with Lailah. But. Details.]

I won't lie to you, it's difficult. Really difficult.

Saying I still don't struggle with this would make me a hypocrite.

Being honest here, I've been dealing with it just fine. I'm used to being away from people every now and again. Everything and everyone here has been keeping my mind off the fact I've been here for months now.

Yeah. I figured I might not be the only one without at least some friends from home. I'm just not used to being without Mikleo. I keep even now after months, still sometimes going to point out something to him or ask him something before I remember he isn't here.

I only really recently left my village so I guess I was used to being surrounded by my family there. And I always had Mikleo with me. So it's kind of weird to not have him around.

I guess you are just saying to keep busy and distracted? I've been trying.

If it's advice you really want: you can't change things so it'll be best if you just focus on yourself. Not on other people.

Right. I guess so. Basically keep doing what I have been. Keeping busy. Trying to keep distracted from thinking about home. About him.

I keep hoping my friends will come here rather than going home. Actually being home doesn't make me feel very homesick, I just miss some people. I'd rather be a pirate.

I want to show Mikleo and tell him so many things here! I miss Elysia. But I'm also excited to see and explore this place, and the world outside the village back home. Getting to travel so much is pretty new to me, I guess.

For one instance, I don't think you can stop yourself from thinking about him. But focusing that energy on your betterment and independence with him on your back mind might be a reasonable goal.

Right? I'd love my friends to get a chance to see the wide open sea and all that. It would be so fun.

Travel is new to me too, I really didn't get out much. I probably couldn't navigate around Tokyo alone to be honest, and I live there.

Yeah. I've managed so far? More or less. Just. Still find myself about to try ask him something or point something out before I remember he isn't here. But you're right. That's more or less what I have been trying to do. Focus on here, what I can do, the new friends I'm making.

Huge city, yeah. Millions of people live there. It's just when I would go to work, we'd get driven to where we needed to go. I could make it to the local convenience store on my own, but everywhere else, I dunno.

Millions? Wow. That must be crowded. More than Ladylake back home. Convenience store?

Kind of? I think so. Lots of apartments which are very small homes.

It's a small store that sells an assortment of things at probably inflated prices for the convenience. We have one not that far from the school.

I'm pretty sure the seraphim back in the village I grew up in only had their houses because I was with them. Probably. So I wouldn't feel weird being the only one, as a mortal, needing that sort of thing, to sleep and all.

Oh. I think I get it. School? That's with lessons and stuff, right? I never went but Gramps and some of the others taught me some things?

They couldn't sleep? That's different. I can't decide if that's convenient or not.

Uh, mostly I think. I go to a technical college so I just have specialty courses and on the job training. I never had normal lessons. So don't ask me anything!

They are elemental spirits. So they don't need to do some of the things humans do.

Technical college? On the job training sounds good though? That makes sense to me at least? I guess I hadn't necessarily considered jobs before. Beyond what I was doing back home just kinda helping out where I could. And doing the same here.

While I do have my younger brother here, I've been away from my twin sister for almost a year now, and it's been hard spending so much time without her. The three of us are usually inseparable.

Mikleo and I are around the same age but not actually siblings. I can only imagine how hard that must be. To be separated from a twin. I'm glad you have your brother here at least. That you aren't completely alone. I hope you see your sister again soon. Either at home or if she comes here too.

Thank you. I admit it wasn't as at first, but it has gotten a little easier to bear.
There is a chance you may be brought back home through a rift and come back here, but there's no guarantee. Also no way to predict such things, as far as I'm aware.

Yeah. It isn't like we can control it yet. To be sure on who might show up or go back home or when. The ideal would be that we do figure it. So people can go home if they want. Or stay here if they prefer, or maybe even go to other friend's homes they met here?

Indeed, that would be ideal. Being able to come and go as we please would be a boon to many.

Though, would you prefer to go back to your home, or bring your loved ones here?

I guess go back home. People there are relying on me, needing me to help. I have a promise to keep. So. I can't abandon things there. As amazing as all this is, as many friends as I've made here that I wouldn't have met otherwise.

That's understandable. It's hard to simply abandon the life you once had back home for something new like this. Most would be of the same opinion as you, myself included.

That being said, if there were some way to visit other people's homes from our own, that would probably be the best of both worlds, wouldn't it?

Yeah. I have a kind of important job back home. Otherwise, maybe, if Mikleo and my friends and family were here, I might not mind staying. If not for that.

But that would be the best. To still be able to visit at least, keep in touch. With the friends we have made here that we wouldn't have met back home otherwise.

I agree. As much as I would like to return home, it makes me sad to think of not seeing the friends we’ve met here. If there was a way to keep in touch, I think we would all appreciate it.

Though it sounds like your friends and family are quite dear to you. I hope you’re able to see them soon, whether they come here or not.

I guess it's good for me to do my job, but not exactly good for anything else. It's a job I can't quit anyway, so I guess there's nothing really to worry about in the end.

Even just if there was a way to stay in touch. Write or use these or something. I don't know if something like this would work back home though?

They are. Mikleo's been by my side through everything, ever since I can remember and probably before then. I just miss him. My friends. Gramps. I only left our village not that long ago back home so being away from home is still new to me I guess.

Hm. I guess it depends on the job. I'm not really sure I can help as much here. Without Lailah, without Mikleo and the others. But. I'm doing my best. What I can. To just make do and help out.

If there was some way to test the theory... alas, I'm not sure if that's possible right now. Not without more information on how the rifts work.

I can understand that. Aside from my sister, there's also the rest of the children at the orphanage that we all grew up at, and we all regard each other as family. It's been hard, being away from them for so long. So in a way, I can understand that feeling you're feeling.

I'm kind of enjoying the chance to just hang out with friends and just live a little bit. I don't hate my job exactly, I want to help people and my job lets me do that, but...yeah, I don't know, I don't usually have this kind of freedom. I like it.

I think I get it. Freedom. Yeah. I liked the village, the seraphim and all but. It is pretty great to be able to travel. To see and do so much more.

Yeah. We need to look into it more. See how it works. Then if there is a way to control it somehow.

Right. I know I'm not related to them by blood but. We're family. They raised me. Raised Mikleo. That's as good as family. What family does. Be there, look after each other.

If you ask me, family isn't always defined by blood. If you grew up together, were raised together, and take care of each other, isn't that what family is?

Exactly! You get it. I'm not sure if everyone does exactly. I guess Mikleo and I, our situation is kind of unique though. The seraphim found us when we were babies and raised us ever since.

So yeah. I consider the villagers of Elysia to be family.

It can be hard for others, especially if they have only ever considered one group of people their family. Not every family has such a community to support them, and it's only natural to consider such people an extension of one's family. But I am of the belief that family is important, no matter how they're defined.

It's not bad. Just taking some adjusting to. But yeah. It is nice. To explore and travel, go where and when you want.

I guess ours, Elysia is more like a community. But if I had to say like, I guess, immediate family it would be Mikleo and Gramps. But you're right. Family is important.

I know it's not much, but I hope you get to see your family soon. Perhaps they'll show up sometime.

Yeah. I know I'm probably not the only one. I hope everyone gets to reunite with their friends, their family if they aren't together here already.

Breaking rules? I usually try follow them. Most of the time at least.

I have a lot of really stupid rules, like not being able to date or do anything fun.
