[The feed opens to a blurry image of poorly jostled movements. Sounds of rattling scraping against the speaker of the shellphone indicates an attempt to prop it against something solid. Finally, after a few more moments (got to get the angle just right!) the image clears, revealing not one- but two faces on the other side of the screen.

Clive and Jill, at your service!]

Good day, everyone. [Clive begins, his back straight and voice almost mirroring an authoritative tone. However, despite how rigid he looks, the man was smiling. His scarred face wrinkled with creases of a genuine gleam as he looks to Jill before finally returning to address the camera.] We thought it proper to give a formal announcement…

[ He’s not the only one who’s smiling. Jill is too, though much less rigid in her posture. Her shoulders are relaxed, looking as if someone has taken a large load off of them for one and together the pair make a picture of two giddy schoolkids up to no good. She reaches out for his hand, taking it into hers, and clasping it tightly before addressing the camera as well. The measure of support they give one another is obvious and what they have to say shouldn’t come as much of a surprise if given a little thought to how much they mean to each other.. ]

Not only proper, but more… efficient in this manner. Rather than leave it to the winds to carry the message, we want to tell all that we know at once.

[ She glances back over at Clive with expectant eyes, wondering if she should say it or if he should. But on second thought, she shakes her head and decides not to force the man of few words to come up with the entire message. ]

We would like to officially announce our betrothment.

[ Now that the main message is out there for all and sundry, she gives the floor back to Clive. ]

Yes. [Clive listens and nods along with a fondness on his face to that of a beggar receiving an abundance of gil. He holds Jill’s hand tightly in return, giving a look of a man clearly in love, before eventually offering the camera a half glance.]

Thank you for the kindness you have shown Jill and I. We pray that you will continue to support us as we take our next steps— [Annnd just like that his gaze leaves the camera completely and back onto Jill, dripping his head slightly.] —together.

Yes… Together.

[ Because that’s how they always do things, isn’t it? That much is certain with how she shifts to face him fully, to take in the man she loves with every bit of her soul. Apologies to anyone having to suffer through this. The shellphone and whoever is watching this broadcast no longer exist in her world; just the two of them remain at this moment. A moment more than well earned in two lives that were once full of nothing but strife and pain.]

But I need to ask you: by what things do you mean?

[After all, there's been two people so far bringing up their intimate life, why not a third one?]

The fact that you need to ask makes me wonder what sorts of messages you've been receiving. But I only mean for whatever plans for your future life...and current. I hope he hasn't been slacking in helping provide and care.

The sort that should not be asked within polite company.

[Or at all unless you're courting them, really.]

No, not at all. I don't need much to begin with, but I can say he makes sure we have more than enough. Even Bluetooth and her incessant need for catnip. As for our future, it seems best we take it day by day.

[ramuhs]

In that case I won't say much else, but if you ever do need something that I can help with, you know you can always ask.

After being together for this long, I see you both as something like family, particularly Clive. Perhaps I should consider you as something of a "daughter-in-law"?

[A more amused grin, his eyes shining with that teasing mischief.]

[She would go back to throwing letters to the sea rather than ask anything so private of Cid.

Oh, he wants to tease? She can do it right back.]

I don't think Benedikta would take too kindly to me referring to her as my "mother-in-law".

[Because she knows you two are next to be hitched, if they haven't secretly done it already!]

Never know, it might grow on her.

[Neither is he denying their practically married relationship—]

And you want me to be the one to test her patience to see how long it takes her to? You must want Clive to think I abandoned him at the altar.

[Oh, she's noticed. She absolutely noticed.]

[He laughs.]

Well now, I didn't say that. We could just keep it our little secret.

[Playful wink.]

[That's two winks in one day. What is wrong with you people's eyes?]

I don't know about that. She is an intelligencer. She'll just know and then what will we do?

[His winks are better.]

Then I'll handle her while you two run off to safety.

[Probably still be clueless about what each other wants.]

[Indeed, they everything to him—

He just chuckles at that.]

A question we don't have to entertain, fortunately.

[His eyes then grow warmer with fondness.]

But I am happy to see the two of you together. Congratulations, Jill.

[It was always a shame that back in Valisthea they never had much opportunity to converse or do much before, but at least here they've had more of that time. Even if they didn't do a lot together, he was still able to watch the two of them from the sidelines, and that was more than enough really. Especially given...well. That uncertainty of their own futures.

So he really is quite happy that they are able to have this chance together.]

Thank you again. We will be seeing you at the ceremony? I promise this time the cake won't be made of cheese.

[Because there will be cake, regardless of how small the gathering ends up being. Jill's developing sweet tooth demands it.]

What? I was actually hoping for it.

[A wry chuckle.]

But aye, assuming you two don't run off into the sunset somewhere on your own. I already told Clive I would be honored to officiate should you need it, and I would attend regardless.

Along with Benedikta.

[He says, but let's just assume he already knows some conversations happen.

Because he could see her whenever it happened.]

We couldn't elope even if we wanted to. Joshua would never forgive us.

[Honestly they probably would if Joshua wasn't here, if only to save Clive some socializing suffering.

The ending of his reply has her squinting just a tad.]

Are you sure she even wants to come? I can't say we're two of her favorite people.

[ramuhs]

[He just winks at that.]

But you're not the worst.

[He can wink all the live long day, but it won't convince Jill.]

Maybe not me, but I wouldn't blame her over Clive.

[Ha ha... Yeah that certainly rings true.]

A year ago I would agree, but while I wouldn't call them fast friends, I think they're relations have improved to at least "tolerance."

[Little does he know he's the reason for that little truce—]

Tolerance enough to attend a ceremony honoring him in some manner for for however long? You know her much better than I do, so if you think so, then I'll agree.

[That's because Cid is the gift that keeps on giving.]

[He just chuckles wryly.]

It's also honoring you, isn't it? I know you're not fast friends or anything as such, but I imagine she favors you more than Clive.

I wouldn't say that much considering we haven't spent much time with each other, but you know her better than I do, so perhaps I'm wrong.

[They have had decent conversations, though it was always fraught with that tension of two people who are supposed to be enemies trying to be polite to one another. At least that's how it feels to Jill. Benedikta might hold a differing opinion.]

[Just going to leave it at that, though, as he's sure Beneditka wouldn't approve of him meddling.]

But is there anything else I or the crew can do for the two of you? It sounds you prefer something small, but if there's anything else you need all you need to do is ask.

Clive prefers something small, yes.

[Jill herself doesn't care as long as she's marrying that man, but might as well consider his comfort.]

I can't think of much at the moment, aside from your daughter insisting on being the flower girl. She's promised to bathe and everything.

[ramuhs]

[He just snorts and laughs at that.]

While if were younger she would have quite adorable as one, it's hard to imagine it now. Are you going to let her?

I don't see why not. She's also determined to get find flowers I like, so I couldn't find a reason to deny her.

Unusual at her age, yes, but who else is going to give her the chance to be their flower girl?
