[ Khalid gives that hand another squeeze. He doesn't really like the sound of that. It reminds him a lot of how Rhea described someone becoming a dark beast. Like a slow corruption. Seeing Miklan transform the way that he had - ]

That's the sort of thing that can be intoxicating.
