[Here sits Denji with his feet dangling over the dock's edge in Eltrut looking out towards the setting sun with a stoic expression over his features, twiddling his thumbs as he contemplates how best to ask the rather serious question that has been mauling about his brain for the better part of a weeks time now. Being trapped in this newfound world for over a month now has given him time to learn a few things about his situation here and found out a few people who've been brought to Escordvi's shores were dead before their arrival. In his days as a devil hunter for Public Safety he's seen a number of his co-workers, some he would even call friends taken before their time from gruesome deaths he would not wish upon anyone besides his enemies that opposed them anyways. One person in particular he feels slightly responsible for given he was the one who had to put him out of his misery before hurting innocent bystanders in the wake of their horrible transformation under the Gun Devil's influence.

Looking over to his shellphone propped up against a nearby barrel the teenage boy sighs solemnly before he just comes right out and asks the masses for advice and perhaps guidance on how he might go about achieving his new goal of resurrecting his departed friend back from the grave. Despite Aki's desire to rid their world of the terror he unfortunately succumbed to perhaps he could find solace here with a new life void of worry and sorrow. One of the people he could almost call actual 'family', a sort of big brother figure who vouched for him on more than one occasion. He owed it to his colleague to at least try after everything he did for him, giving him money to keep a roof over both he and Power's head after passing away on top of everything else.]

Yo...Denji here. Does anyone know if there is some way to bring people back from the dead here? I know there are relics and magical shit all over the place and thought maybe someone found something that could maybe do that?

[It takes Kaveh a while to work up to an answer.]

...Who do you want to bring back?

[Hell of a thing to wake up to on the network. The martial artist stared at the video for a few seconds, contemplating over whether or not he should answer. He doesn't think he'll be all that helpful in answering... At the same time though, sometimes people need an ear that'll listen. And boy howdy, do people make him listen to their problems. Denji's though actually seems like something that needs listening to, so he answers, sitting at the edge of his crew's ship.]

No clue. Then again, I haven't had a reason to look into that stuff. There might be, but I can't guarantee it either. Sorry.

[It's hard to even muster up the courage to say his name as the memory of killing his friend is still quite fresh in his mind being but after a minute or two of silence Denji finally answers Kaveh with a saddened expression.]

His name's Aki. He was...a friend of mine even if he could be a dick sometimes.

[The response garners a sigh considering it was not what he was hoping for, Denji throwing a pebble into the open waters.]

Well that's not the answer I was hoping for but...Thanks I guess.

[Eesh... He might not be the best person to talk to about this. And it might not be his business to ask. But he never really thinks on these things much and if he should, so...]

Who'd ya want to bring back anyway?

(Oh, this idiot.)

Are you sure they'd want to come back?

(Nothing good can come from reviving the dead. Just look at them, persisting, not allowed to die. The world would be better off if they had.)

He...meant a lot to you, didn't he?

[Kaveh doesn't know what happened, or the circumstances, but that lingering sense of guilt, and of grief that never heals, that he knows like the backs of his hands.]

[Denji gives a confused look with a tilt of his head, scrunching his nose and brows quickly thereafter as a look of frustration washes over his face.]

He didn't want to die but had no choice. A devil turned him into the thing he was trying to kill! So yeah...I'm pretty sure he wanted to live.

There's something here that can do it, I'd wager. I've heard it happens every now and then. Folk come here, folk who are meant to be dead, and suddenly they're up and about and talking to people.

Don't know if there's a way to control it, mind. No idea what it is that chooses who gets to come here and get a second chance.

That's pretty traumatic. Just because he wanted to live before it happened doesn't mean he'll be happy when revived.

(They sure didn't want to die back then, but it would have been better if they had.)

[Denji solemnly nods as his brows furrow in frustration looking down to the upturned palm of his hands before clenching them tightly into fists.]

Yeah...He was a good dude and stuck his neck out for me even when I was a shit head to him.

My friend, Aki.

[A brief pause as he says the words aloud admitting it without a seconds hesitation.]

It's...My fault he's dead.

[Upon the others' proclamation Denji's eyes light up with a rekindled hope, a shocked expression plastered over his features as he moves a bit closer towards the feed picking up the shellphone in both hands to frame his face directly now.]

For real!?! I know a couple people who were dead before showing up but do you think there is a way to bring them here without leaving it just to chance!?! There's gotta be some sort of relic or magic that can do it right!?!

You don't know shit about, Aki! That fucking Gun Devil took control of him and drove him fucking insane but that was not the real him!!

[His anger beginning to show as he grits his teeth in disdain before continuing on pointing a finger towards the screen.]

He was a good dude who wanted to rid the whole world of that asshole to avenge his family and would not quit until he did it!!

[Oh... Yeah, he might be woefully unskilled to handle this. The martial artist pursed his lips in a thin line hearing this.]

What happened? You don't gotta tell me if you don't feel like going into the nitty-gritty.

I never said he was a bad person. Just in my experience people who survive stuff like that can't really be called living afterwards.

(Sidestep has some really, really serious issues and should probably not be consulted about these topics.)

Do you think bringing someone back from the dead is a good idea...?

[Denji firmly nods without a second thought.]

Why not? Especially if they didn't deserve to die.

A lot of people don't deserve to die.

[Darin rubs the back of his head, his gaze implying that maybe he's got some experience with this...]

I think...I'd just be concerned with them coming back...different? I think death changes people.

[There's no other way to say it as Denji just shakes his head with a wave of his hand in dismissal.]

Naw, its cool...He was killed by the Gun Devil and it took over his body as a fiend.

[A long pause as his head hangs low, a defeated look crossing his features as he grits his sharp teeth in frustration.]

So I killed him...I had no choice the idiot would have killed all those innocent people if I didn't do it!

If Aki had a choice I know he'd wanna be alive still, alright!?! It wasn't his fault that asshole Gun Devil killed him!

[Murdered in cold blood by one of the worst possible Devils in history and then having his body taken over by brute force was not his fault, nor would his friend wish to give up on his mission to kill the devil himself after the atrocities ensued by its hand. Especially after having murdered his entire family and wanted nothing more than to avenge their deaths more than anything.]

Gun Devil...?

[It wasn't meant to be a question, just something Ranma echoed back in confusion to himself. And fiend? Must be something from Denji's world. Scratch that, definitely a thing from Denji's world.]

... Sometimes you've got no other choice when it comes to protecting the innocent.

[As a martial artist, it's something he's been taught. It's his honor to protect the innocent and the weak, no matter the cost. Even if that means having to take a life, if there's no other option. Some case, he's lucky that the only time he's ever had to kill, it was against a megalomaniac who simply reincarnated into a baby due to his immortality. Having to put down someone, take someone's life permanently... He knows at some point, he may have to, but he can't fathom it.]

Do you... Do you think... he'd understand it? Why you did it? [Obviously, there's a lot of context he's missing, but he's never had to be the one to comfort someone about death and loss and whatnot.]

[Denji hadn't really thought about that until just now...What if Aki did come back to live only to be resurrected as the Gun Devil fiend his dead body was taken over by!?!]

Shit...Well here's hopin' he would come back how I remember him by and not how he died cause...Yeah, that was not the real Aki.

It...probably depends on how he died.

My brother...wasn't like how I remembered him when he came back.

Honestly? I'm not even sure if it is him.

Yeah...Aki wasn't really himself when he died either.

[Completely under the influence of the Gun Devil as a fiend the big brother he never really had was all but most to madness. If that was how his friend would be revived he would certainly be better off dead or he would just try and murder anyone in his path once again. Sighing solemnly the teenager tries not to dwell on that being as optimistic as possible as he thinks about what the other says.]
