That certainly has been quite the hot topic for Alhaitham quite a while now—pretty much all the way from when he first heard Kaveh's forced confession in the depths of Norhpip. Those three words that have sent him on a search for both understanding and answers on a topic that seems both simple and yet deceptively complex at the same time. He'd been working on it on weeks at this point, and now...

Cid can't see it, of course, but Alhaitham is looking down at Kaveh who's sound asleep while curled up at his side, completely knocked out for the night yet for once at complete ease if only due to the copious amounts of alcohol he'd ingested. A part of him is already fully anticipating the hungover state of his senior that he's going to have to deal with in the morning, but at the same time he can't deny the side of Kaveh he'd gotten to have earlier because of it. His senior whose tongue has been loosened by alcohol, and in turn had become so open and unabashed about his feelings and wants and desires—all of which Alhaitham had willingly taken from him and returned accordingly.

He has tried to understand the ways to see Kaveh's love for him, ever since that day when he heard those words, but its only in these last few weeks, with the memory of another's past regrets and heartache lingering in the back of his mind, has he gained much of the clarity that he now possesses.]

That's the last thing he'll admit to when he wakes up in the morning.

[Not verbally, anyway, but actions have always been the far bigger method of expression when it comes to his senior.]

Oh I'm sure he'll be screaming and wanting to hide himself away.

[There's a part of Alhaitham that wants to point out that Cid's remark makes no sense given the fact that he has known Kaveh longer than the elder has, but he does kind of get the sentiment behind it.

Guess the feeling that Kaveh holds for Cid isn't quite a one way street after all.]

[Ever since that night, from the moment Kaveh accepted the offer to stay under his roof back in Sumeru. Never has a day gone by where he did not have Kaveh's well being in mind. In a place where others will never understand and recognize Kaveh as who he truly is, Alhaitham will do that instead.]
