Life been Life-ing
[With heavy or much lighter and more delicate equipment; one reason the magictech development of this world fascinated him so much. Even if he went in different directions than the weaponry that went into development most had seemed interested in- or at least those behind its initial creation.
His head tilted then, pausing as he had toβ]
I cannot say that I have, outside of being a term for weaponry.
wb!!
That's not wrong. All infernal machinery is some kind of fucked up weapon.
( including hers.
she pauses for a moment, working up the courage to broach the subject, her tail swishing behind her. )
I've got one too. A piece of infernal machinery.
( another pause, still working the words out of her throat. )
Not by choice, but it's in need of repair.
( she points a thumb at the orange glow pulsating underneath her sternum, framed by the collar of her shirt. )
It's kind of a long story, but my heart was replaced with this infernal engine. This thing runs hot, man, too hot. Killing me kind of hot.
( then karlach makes a circular motion with her hand, trying to move past that particular point. )
Might be able to get it fixed, but not without something to repair it with. Was hoping you might be the guy to know where to start.
( to find something that could withstand the heat, something that didn't flinch against hellfire. )
working on staying back on top! ( β’Μ Ο β’Μ )β§
[As far as the memories he could recall said, at the very least.
Still, he paused for a moment as he watched and listened. Hands rested on materials as that was also mentally paused for just a moment.
Ah.]
An extreme sort of heat means needed metal that can stand up to it, to better help you handle it as well, correct?
[... also why the bear needed to be made out of a certain material as well, wasn't it.
His head tipped before he was moving, stopping in front one of the book shelves as he moved a finger along notebook spines, pulling one out to walk back over as he flipped through it.]
There are places here that may have a place to start to look for such materials- or at least a number of metals that can be combined to create something that can do that. This I could offer help in, what could be needed to go into that. During my time here I have studied magic and nature, but also where science can come and help bond together to create something-
You will of course need a forge on hand prepared to handle that, along with whatever shaping will be needed once the metal is either found or created as an alloy. I know how to look for such ore deposits, if nothing else of my knowledge can be of use to you.
[--More or less saying he was willing to help however he could.]
no subject
( karlach makes a noise, confusion clear on her face.
just like that? )
Wait, really? You're offering to help? I haven't even gotten to talking payβ
( that's insane, right? no one just does something for nothing and this guy is already grabbing books! it's almost a little overwhelming. karlach had brought a little baggie of coins with her and everything in expectation of having to grease the wheels.
but then he's talking about a forge and her face lights up. )
Oh! I have the forging part handled. Got a guy and a place and everything.
no subject
He nodded, scanning over pages and turning them before he did look up, something rather determined but warm in his eyes.]
I am, yes. This is something that worries you for obviously good reason, and that concern alone is enough reason to do whatever I may be able to in order to help. Payment is reasonable to expect, I know, but whatever you deem reasonable to give will likely split between my own projects, and into Cosmo Conservatory- if not pushed right back into this if need be.
[There was a sort of relief there, a hand resting against his desk.]
Excellent to hear, that will help largely over all. This will likely be more difficult than creating stainless steel, and take a great deal of time just finding what could work. No doubt you have likely thought of that as well.
[Still, even with time having various areas to look would be more useful than not.]
π ?
karlach likes to think she has a pretty good nose for when she's being bullshitted or otherwise gassed up by another, but she's struggling to get a solid read on the situation. having someone so ready to assist without immediately demanding anything feels suspicious, but she can't feel any bad vibes from him either.
she's quiet for a moment, the gears in her mind obviously turning as she rubs two of her talons along her chin in an unsubtle thinking motion.)
Okay.
( placing the little baggie of coins onto the counter, she nudges them towards turo. regardless of what he says, karlach feels like it's important to put forth a gesture of goodwill and good faith first. )
Take this as an advance, Prof. And tell me if you find anything that can handle my heat.
( then she grins. )
Or maybe you'll see me first with something.
π
Of course, and I will do my best to make even this advance well worth it.
I have a few things I can start with looking into, and be happy to share if there are good grounds with them once I dig a little more.
[That was a warm smile in turn.]
Either way? I welcome you to check in, should you do so or I simply get a little buried and forget to check-in.
