Hail, fellow riftfarers:

I write today with a few... wonderings, you might call them. As a few of you may know, my occupation prior to my arrival was that of an innkeeper, so I've found myself rather curious about the state of the hospitality industry here.

I'm particularly interested in hearing from those of you who have rather taken to a life at sea since arriving here, and who have formed crews and the like. If you've a moment to write back, I would appreciate it so very much and would be happy to answer any questions you may have in turn!

How often do you come ashore to rest at inns or taverns?
What amenities would you most like to see in at an inn?
What sort of food or drink do you find yourself seeking most when you're ashore?
What type of entertainment would you be most interested in during your stay?

I realize I'm adding to a rather plentiful collection of questionnaires and inquiries here... or... innquiries?

P.S. This is much more of a personal inquiry than a professional one, but... for those of who you have come to care for warrior cats... what are some things that you've found to be very successful with building trust with them...?

Well, I personally wouldn't mind watching Valo for a few days, if ever you needed to leave him at this yet-hypothetical inn of mine!

[Yes, that is his secret. He can get lengthy if he wants to be but otherwise be grateful he gives a full sentence.]

I would be impressed if you could have figured it out.

But the gesture is appreciated. If I'm in the area, I may take you up on your offer should this "yet-hypotehtical inn of yours" comes to be.

Right. Actually, per your suggestion, I did leave Nogard and stayed on Eltrut for some time. I'm quite settled on starting my business there, though perhaps that goes without saying...

But even if it takes some time to get this established, I'm still happy to watch Valo if you need to leave him on Eltrut now and again. I think Satoru has been wanting to have more quality time with dogs, too.

Surely you've heard of the notion that opposites attract.

So long as he's not causing more trouble than he's worth.

And can actually take care of animals.

He's been relatively well-behaved, I think... He was in many ways much more troublesome in the last world we were in.

He has something of an antagonistic dynamic with my warrior cat, Miss Clawdia, but I do think he's capable of caring for animals... He was a teacher, after all. There's a tendency towards nurturing there, even if he would never admit it.

[....Hmmm.]

Suppose we'll see.

But that first message does pique his curiosity a little.]

Last world? You mean you're from the same world?

[Though that doesn't...sound right because wouldn't she say "our world"? Hence the question.]

No, not from the same world. But we had similarly found ourselves in a world other than our own once before. Only that the "world" in question was a hotel adrift in the stars that drew guests in from many worlds, just as Riftfarers seem to wash up ashore here.

He and I had both been there for about half a year before we wound up here. A rather hard-to-believe tale, isn't it?

Honestly it is. I've heard of people who had traveled to other worlds before, but you're the first I've spoken directly about it.

Did you come to this world from there?

I do hail from a family who make their life's work traveling to other worlds, but even so, they could not reach places that were quite so different from each other as what I've experienced over the last year or so. Just as with the Riftfarers here, the guests of the hotel all came from different realities, different times, different... everything, really.

But yes, we did. And by some cosmic miracle, we were sept away here at the same time.

Not sure if I should call that lucky or not.

[And all of that sounds...well, even having experienced the whole "travel to different worlds" bit here, it's still not really something normal for him to consider.]

You'll simply have to take my word for it, when I say that it is very lucky, indeed.

[ considering the alternative, which is them being sent back to their respective worlds, or Gojo remaining at the Hotel forever, which... well, it's not for her to say. ]

Surely even you've begun to find yourself growing closer to other Riftfarers while here? [ even Eustace-- ] Those you would consider yourself lucky to have met here, and you might feel disappointed if you were no longer able to reach them in any way?

[He starts typing to say something in the manner of indifference, but before he even manages three letters he stops and stares at the screen for a moment.

He's made some acquaintances, but for the most part he had kept it "business," or just casual. Forming close relationships still doesn't come so naturally to him, and the nature of the world has kept him busy similar to how things were back home to what he's used to. That isn't to say he can't make friends, it just wasn't a priority, especially because he is fully aware of the transient nature of this world regardless of how long he's managed to stay.

But what makes him stop is there is one person who comes to mind. A brief flash that makes him waver and hesitate before he finally finishes typing to send.]

Not really.

But I can imagine the difficulty.
