This last moon or so I've been speaking to several people about magic and the ability to use magic. Now I understand we all come from varying stars - worlds, realms, whichever you prefer - and the laws governing such arts may differ.

Thus I find myself curious about how others are able to cast their spells. I certainly wouldn't mind an exchange of knowledge on the topic. In fact, I've already offered to conduct some lessons to some individuals here as an experiment, of sorts. I, myself, am no great mage but I am capable enough, I should hope.

I think the definition of "magic" is rather diverse. So perhaps, by my star's definition it might not quite fit. Yet it might as well be as such upon your own.

Either way, curiosity is never a bad thing.

We don't call it magic, it's sorcerer techniques for jujutsu sorcerers, but I could see how people would think they were like magic. There's all kinds of techniques, although most people can just manage one major technique.

There's some things any sorcerer can do, and some people don't even have techniques, they can just see cursed spirits.

So what makes it so that one might see cursed spirits but not have a technique?

[cursedwords]

The ability itself is how our brains are constructed. There's something different about the brain stem, which is about all I know about that.

The ability usually manifests when you're maybe four or five. Someone who can't hone a technique still might be able to do other things, but they'll never make it past Grade 4.

It takes practice and training, but someone like me with an inherited technique it goes differently.

So someone born with a weak ability can still strengthen it?

I'm not volunteering to be dissected, nor is Yuta.

Somewhat. To a point, but there's a limit to how much you can grow. You can build up your supporting skills, and get experience, but your ability to control cursed energy has an upper limit for most people. You're more likely to burn out the tank than improve upon that.

I wouldn't dream of dissecting anyone. 'Tis not my field of study.

You say "burn out the tank." Might you explain what you mean?

You have a reserve of cursed energy that you can manipulate and you have to learn how to use it efficiently, but you can't really move away from your maximum.

I have more cursed energy than I can use, because my technique takes a toll on my body to the point that it can't keep up long enough to use it all.

So is there a way for you to overcome this challenge? To better prepare your body for the amount of cursed energy that you can use?

I work on my stamina, it's the best I can do. As for my vocal chords, I think it might be a lost cause. I can just try and use less energy to make a bigger impact. But once I hit my limit, I'm done.

I think that singing might be able to help with the vocal chords.

That's a nice thought but I think you're overestimating how much I can speak. Even with cursed speech, we're talking a handful of words a day here, one word at a time.

It's the best I've got. Otherwise I guess it'd be really lonely.
