[Turo leaned back from the shellphone propped up on a desk within the main medical facility within Cosmo Conservatory-]
Hello and good day, most of you know me as Professor Turo.
I have the pleasure to announce a project that is for the animal sanctuary known as Cosmo Conservatory, after discussing it with Nanaki of course. For those of you who might enjoy plush animals, I will be creating them resembling the various creatures that call this sanctuary home. All proceeds from them will be going straight into the upkeep of the Conservatory, and of course the creatures' care.
[Just over his shoulder popped up the head of an odd bird with a soft cry as feathers ruffled, glancing back to show there was a second -wrapped in bandages around one of the larger wings and chest area- that it was perched close to.
The one up cleared the distance at a glide, latching onto the back of Turo's coat and making it to perc on his shoulder and better showing off is size simple as that. Turo carefully lifted a hand briefly for it to 'nibble' at the side of it-]
Including these two new arrivals, and their eggs.
[The shellphone was picked up then, giving a better view of the makeshift nest the other was rested in briefly before showing off a sample collection of various plush he already made.]
The plushies will be done in the style I have tested out with these, just to allow me to create them in a timely fashion. [Picking up the very fluffy Volcarona in a hand to better show the size and, well, just how squishable it was, the creature on his shoulder preening a little of it's fluff in curiosity.] I can customize them easily as well, if that is something anyone is willing to perhaps give a little extra for.
I am happy to answer any questions about this project, or anything about Cosmo Conservatory for those curious.
[Turo had needed a bit of a break before he re-buried himself into the issues of Bugsnax, apparently-]
I also apologize if anyone has tried to reach me here, given the amount of time I have dedicated to searching for a cure in dealing with Bugsnax and further research being done on Snaxburg Isle. I will still be tending to that, alongside anyone else who wishes to combine efforts.
Have a good day, and thank you for your time.

[ He wishes he did because that would mean he has a case. ]

[Creating work for himself half the time.]

Professor? Are you still in?
no subject
[With his lab coat rested over the back of one of the chairs, notebook rested on the desk just beside his bag and the plushies he had brought as examples.
Currently both of the animals just brought in were awake on the medical table, eating and drinking well.]
no subject
What habitat will they eventually go to once they've recovered? The cliffs?
[ Unless the cloud part of their name referred to their appearance rather than a preference for heights. ]
no subject
Fortunate timing.]
At least near the cliffs, as they tend to keep lower until those eggs hatch and the hatchlings can make it up a cliff-face as well. Once both have gathered strength I may let them pick the specific spot.
[From that? Well, likely not hard to guess that this had likely been a planned poaching attempt Turo had interfered in; pure luck he'd been there at the right time to do so.]
I appreciate you taking the time to come by as well.

Think nothing of it. As I had said, I am not currently engaged with a case. Studying the behaviors and habits of the creatures here are of some interest to me.
[ And he has to stay useful somehow during the down time to keep himself sane. ]
Is there something I can assist with?
no subject
[Was how Turo had been finding his way to understanding this world, and why he spent so much time -any chance he could get- out in nature for one reason or another. Time taken.
Seemed the right direction to take to him, in other words.]
Would you mind adding another blanket around those eggs? They will allow it, and there is one just over the back of that chair which should be suitable. A little extra security after having to seal some cracks should not hurt.
I still need to put what I used back in the correct spot.
no subject
He settles the blanket around the eggs so that a corner drapes over the top of the nest but easily removed in case the eggs start to get too warm. ]
Do you think they'll be able to return to their natural habitat once the adults have recovered and the eggs have hatched?
no subject
They will either return to their Storm, or they may decide to remain here. It can be difficult to tell, but at least we have the room near the cliffs if they do decide to stay- and I have gathered such interesting stories from those who lived in the area I found these two in.
[Turning back around then, checking over the two eating just to make sure the injured one was getting their fill.]
They have certainly been through it today either way.

[ While Turo had said they were new arrivals, he thought that the Cloud Hoppers were rescued a few days ago (needing travel time) and only just arrived here at the Conservatory. Now he knows that's not the case which makes their ease of being around Turo all the more impressive. ]
Perhaps I should come back another day to do any reference sketches and let them rest.
no subject
[Still, with everything put away it shoed how quiet the clinic could be when nothing too hectic was going on. A little rest and making sure the egg repairs would hold- a few days would see them being moved out near the cliffs, likely somewhere lower.]
With them settled now it should be fine- of course we can move this outdoors, and I can leave Iron Valiant here to reassure them they are fine. Valiant was one that helped after all.
no subject
With all that you do for this place and your own research, I have to wonder how you have the time to make stuff toys as well.
[ Does Turo have access to a time machine? Does he ever rest? ]
no subject
Some of the work that can be found tedious is easy to work on while I am waiting for results, or there is more down time than expected.
[The answer to both of these questions tied together.]
no subject
[ Though there might be something said for someone altering an outfit to disguise himself.
Also, he's doing all the sewing by hand. ]
no subject
[Calculations that he could do in his head- and there was something so satisfying about seeing it take shape from that. Colors, textures- he enjoyed it from start to finish.]
It is a little different from altering garments, but even then there are enough similarities- more so when doing it all by hand.
no subject
I shall have to take your word for it. I have no intention to take on such an endeavor, though I was curious from a skill based viewpoint.
[ He has enough stuffed toys already. He... doesn't need to add more to the collection. (Spoilers: he already does obtain more.) ]
Which creatures do you need more references for? I could create a few sketches while I'm here.
no subject
You could call it a hobby of mine then- I take enjoyment out of it, as much as I do most of my personal research. Creating something soft, rather than the potions and other inventions of mine.
[Perhaps it was also a symptom of his own homesickness, even if he didn't realize it was that exactly.]
The golden bee rabbits are a good place to start. Are there any other animals here you spend much time with? Time spent like that tends to have you notice details others miss, and it could give ideas on making each one unique; even if that comes from being handmade in and of itself.
no subject
It's mostly been the golden bee rabbits which I've spent my time with, but I shall attempt to spend more time with some of the others to observe their habits.
[ But in the future there will be a 3-headed puppy that will be another subject of study (and play). ]
no subject
[A reason he could do most of them from memory, even if with some... a memory was all he had to go by. Transferring them into a more physical medium helped somewhat with that.]
no subject
[ Sherlock studies crime while Turo studies the natural world. And memory can be faulty in ways beyond forgetfulness. It is why Sherlock transfers things into a more physical medium. ]
I'll go get the black light and coax the golden bee rabbits out of hiding. The new references will be on your desk by tomorrow.
no subject
Here? It helps discovering how much is connected, along with creating things like healing potions or magitech shields.
[Things he knew applied in different ways.]
I appreciate it, and your work will be used well. Would you like me to make a golden bee rabbit plush for you?
no subject
It is unnecessary unless you wish to give a prototype that wouldn't be fit to sell. I do not want to take away from the fundraiser nor give you additional work.
[ But he won't fight too hard if Turo decides to give him one anyways because Sherlock does spend a great deal of time studying the creatures. ]
no subject
The first one I try seems a reasonable thing to give, if you don't mind. More so if I experiment with a type of yarn that shines a bit while remaining soft.
[At least it would only shine/glitter in the light.]
no subject
Again, if you so wish. Good day.
[ And with that, Sherlock is going to get those references. They will be neatly placed in a folder on Turo's desk whether or not Turo is there. ]
