WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS
This posting is listed in big bold swirly letters on all Manta Boards:
AHOY! HELP WANTED. THINK YOU’VE GOT WHAT IT TAKES TO BE THE FACE OF ESCORDVI’S VERY FIRST ADVENT CALENDAR? POST YOUR GLAMOROUS PICTURES TODAY. POST THEM NOW!
A group of collaborators is looking to put together Escordvi’s very first annual advent calendar. For its inaugural year, they want to compile a collection of pictures of beautiful riftfarers to represent each month. These pictures can range anywhere from beauty shots, to thirsty body shots, to tasteful fashion poses. Anything goes!
Have your character post their own (or their friends, enemies, boyfriends, girlfriends, dogs) photos to this network post. NPCS can also be used to post photos. Then feel free to comment around on the photos with which month or season you think would suit them best. Or just comment about how much you like the photos. Who’s hot? Who’s not? Or about how horrified you are that someone posted yours! Any and all feedback is needed so they can create the best calendar ever!
At the end of the month, an advent calendar for 2025 will be created! If there are enough submissions, there will be multiple calendars so don't be shy or think you'll be left out! For ease of use, the calendar has been broken down into the four seasons so that multiple themed shots can be posted. Get posting!
PLEASE USE THE FORMATTING CODE PROVIDED IN EACH TOPLEVEL! Putting the character's name in the subject line is optional but helpful for quick reference. Any who don't follow instructions will have their comment screened so it can be edited. This is mostly to ensure images are not too large and stretching pages. Please try to crop images to best fit the code, especially long ones. The code will automatically resize images to a max width of 300px, so an image with a 3:4 or 3:5 ratio would be ideal.

oh, what are these?

They're my [took him a bit to type this, not that the person would know--] partner's buddies. People from his world usually pair up with the creatures around their world as friends, pets and battle buddies.
no subject
that's really interesting. i'd like to see a calendar of just these.

Honestly, Iron Bundle and Iron Thorns are pretty unique even for his world. Most Pokemon don't look so robotic... Hang on.
[A bit later...a drawing would pop up. Well, several--]
Here- the top left picture is an Eevee (brown) and Growlithe (orange with black stripes). Pokemon as they get stronger can 'evolve' into different forms, so Growlithe becomes Arcanine and Eevee became Flareon. Pretty similar to cats and dogs though, huh?
no subject
they're amazing. like a cross between monsters and animals, but friendly? and so fluffy, these ones... how many kinds are there? they're so different from the robotic ones, but still pokemon...?
no subject
It's a pretty wide spectrum. Pokemon used to be feared, but in recent centuries, they've become friends and partners to humans.
[Since the person-- kid? was curious... And double checking the info with Turo to make sure he wasn't posting nonsense--]
From what he's told me, Pokemon who want to pair up with humans sort of... jump them out in the wild and challenge them to a battle. A competitive, non-lethal sort of way, more like a sporting competition. Like a fencing match or wrestling? If the 'Pokemon Trainer' manages to get them to stay inside a pokeball-- used for transporting Pokemon around, they become that Pokemon's trainer and guardian. They have a whole system based around pokemon battles and contests... It's pretty different from my world.
Can't stay I dislike it though, from what he's shown me. I can send more of his pictures if you want?

[ he's seen a lot of strange creatures - the cheshire cat, for one, as well as the many different forms the heartless tended to take, but none quite as interesting in concept as these. ]
Over a thousand? All on one single world? It must be so varied in environment to house so many different creatures, as well as humans. What kind of powers do they have - the ones in your first photo?
no subject
No need to break the kids brain with that, yet. Focus on the 'cool' Pokemon--]
Yeah, it's pretty damn varied. Even in his country or region, there were caves, tall snowy mountains, sea side beaches, cliff tops, lakes, wide plains-- even a desert.
[Oh boy, okay-- Time to see how much he's taken in from listening to Turo explain things--]
So Pokemon have 'types'. 18 of them so far. Different types are stronger or weaker against others.
Like- Fire is Weak to Water, Which is Weak to Grass, which is Weak to Fire. And a Pokemon can have two types that interact with one another.
The 18 types are-- Normal, Flying, Fire, Water, Grass, Electric, Bug, Poison, Ground, Rock, Ice, Ghost, Psychic, Fighting, Steel, Dark, Dragon and Fairy.
Iron Thorns, the green guy, is Rock/Electric. He can control rocks and use electricity at will, along with other stuff. While Iron Bundle, the Penguin giving him the hose down is Ice/Water-- so he can produce water or an ice beam from his nozzle tail like a fire hose.
And in that other picture I sent you, Growlithe and Arcanine are pure Fire types. While Eevee starts off as Normal, and can evolve into 8 different types depending on how it grows-- here it evolving into the Fire type, Flareon. They're both good at just producing fire from their mouths to battle foes.
[... Reading back over this, he wasn't sure if he should be proud of himself for remembering all this, or a little embarrassed he did take it all in. But-- Pokemon were just... interesting, and Turo really made it easy to understand.]
Let me grab another picture...

[ guilty as charged - even his tiny archipelago world probably had more than a thousand kinds of fish birds and domestics, but... he is aware of other kinds of animals scattered throughout the worlds, though he's also assuming this is in addition to normal animals, and pokemon are all pretty big like these guys. that seems like a lot.
xehanort rereads the info provided a few times over, noting one thing in particular. ]
oh, like magic affinity. that makes sense. eighteen is a lot of different types to keep track of, especially if they can have more than one?
what qualifies a "dark" type...?
no subject
[Interesting-- some places knew about other dimensions and worlds, while others, like his-- only had Earth.]
Yeah, it is kinda like magic, isn't it? But a lot of it is scientifically researched too, so. Dunno where it falls on that scale.
And yeah, no kidding.
[Huh, Dark type--
He'd take a moment to ask Turo to make sure his own thoughts made sense, what he remembered...]
Dark types...
In terms of typing:
When using a Dark move against another Pokémon-
Super effective against (x2):
Psychic/Ghost Types
Not very effective (x1/2):
Fighting/Fairy/Dark Types
When a Dark Type Pokémon is defending vs another Pokémon move
Weak to (x2)
Fighting/Bug/Fairy Types
Resists (x1/2)
Dark/Ghost Types
Immune (x0)
Psychic Type
That's the technical stuff, but... Dark type Pokémon tend be cunning and sneaky. They'll hit hard and fast, sometimes using dirty tactics to win. Also tend to be nocturnal, or have omens associated with them.
But-- importantly, Pokémon are just Pokémon. They might have particular natures, but very few if any can be considered what humans may morally call 'good' or 'evil'. Absol for example is considered an 'Bad Omen' for natural disasters, but it doesn't cause them; it can sense them about to happen and will come down from the mountains to warn humans and Pokemon about it.
It's just what come natural to them, no different than a cat hunting a bird because of what it's instincts tell it, even if it has food waiting for it at home.

[ he absorbs the information on dark-types carefully. it's amusing to him that they're weak to bug - maybe he should try throwing a caterpillar at a heartless and see what happens sometime.
the confirmation that dark does not equal evil makes him feel weirdly validated. ]
thankyou for answering so thoroughly. do you or... turo? have some resources i could read so i don't take up all your time with questions? learning about other worlds was part of my schoolwork back home, and i find it engaging to study information like this.
no subject
[He has to refer back to Turo for a sec since he remembered him working on something--]
Actually, Turo-- well, Professor Florentino Turo, has been working on a book known as a 'Pokedex' in his world. An Encyclopedia of Pokémon, writing down everything he knows.
[It helped having the dex uploaded into the guys own brain, let alone what the original Turo remembered himself--]
And it was with the full intent of sharing it with people, so once it's ready I'll let you know and you can come look. But I don't mind answering questions for you. Helps me tested out how well I've been studying too.
Plus, I was working on a record of where people were from. I need to get back to that, but once I have it tidied I don't mind you looking at it. The results people told me were pretty... varied. I think the responses are mostly public still too if you want to scroll back the shellphone a bit.
[Hey, of course he's going to encourage a kid to keep studying even when out of school. That's good work ethic right there.]
