[Standing upon the water's edge of Eltrut's beach, Denji can be found skipping rocks into the depths of the ocean proper. His focus on the crashing waves with his bare feet absorbed by the rushing waters, a stoic expression washed over his features as he sighs solemnly.]

So who else had shitty parents growing up, huh?

[A small pause before tossing another rock into the sea, plopping himself down onto the ground before turning his full attention towards the feed.]

I don't remember much about my mom she died when I was real young from a heart condition but at least she wasn't around to see how big of a prick my dad turned out to be. He was a real piece of crap all my life until he crooked and left me with his problems too.

[Denji wasn't about to tell the masses what actually happened to his father after finding out none too recently but that was besides the point here. A half amused burst of laughter erupts as he tries to lighten the mood a bit grinning fiendishly.]

I can't be the only one around here with an asshole for a parent so what's all your stories?

[That would make Denji feel a Hell of a lot better about the situation considering he was the one to kill the man.]

But I meant more for your mother. No woman should be stuck with a man like that.

Oh...Yeah I guess I never thought about that.

[Denji nodding in agreement. Even if he didn't really remember her all too well she certainly didn't deserve to be subject to the punishments he endured in her stead should the man have decided to take his outbursts out on her.]

I would have kicked his ass if he tried hurting her though...

[Words trailing off as he looks towards the ground with a solemn expression.]

Hey...Can you keep a secret?

Secrets are all part of the job. Of course I can.

[Though, this is not much of a job, but that is to say that she is very good at keeping them, yes.]

[When she agrees the boy bows his head deep in thought closing his eyes silently until he finally musters up the courage to speak his truth.]

I didn't remember what happened to my dad until I went back home. Pochita hid those memories from me so I'd forget.

[Looking up towards the feed with a pained expression.]

I...killed him. He was going to kill me first though so I stabbed him.

[If she were on video, he would see that her expression remains unchanged at hearing this. As it stands, she can only convey her feelings, or lack of sympathy for the man, through text.]

And do you feel remorse for that?

[Denji shrugs his shoulders a bit with a shake of his head at the question.]

To be honest? Nah. He was a piece of shit and was going to kill me so why should I care about him? Probably didn't love me at all and was just a drunk asshole most of the time too.

As it should be. Do not blame yourself for it, even if it was by your hand. Sometimes these things must be done in order to protect ourselves from being hurt further.

If I could go back in time now and kill my father for what he did, I would without a second thought.

Yeah that's pretty fucked up what your parents did too so I don't blame ya! Guess I'm not the only one around here who's been dealt a shitty hand in life and had to make the best of it.

[Which prompts his next question trying to lighten the mood a little bit.]

Do ya like milkshakes? I find they hit the spot real good when I'm feeling like shit and could definitely go for one right about now.

[When could he not go for one is a better question.]

[She is about to type another question when his catches her off guard.]

Are you asking me if I would like to get a

milkshake?

[She's probably only ever had one once—]

[Cue the nod of his head in quick succession with an amused grin.]

Yeah! They are the best drink in this entire world, Tifa makes the most bomb milkshakes you'll ever have in your life!

I suppose I could humour one milkshake, if they are as good as you say. Is there a peach one?

[One orphan to another.]

[He mulls that over as a hand scratches the back of his head trying to remember if Tifa made peach milkshakes or not before shrugging his shoulders with a grin.]

Not sure but I bet Tifa could whip one up if we asked her real nicely! So whatcha say?

Alright, fine. And may we bond over our terrible parents while we are at it. Where is this place?
