[Standing upon the water's edge of Eltrut's beach, Denji can be found skipping rocks into the depths of the ocean proper. His focus on the crashing waves with his bare feet absorbed by the rushing waters, a stoic expression washed over his features as he sighs solemnly.]
 

So who else had shitty parents growing up, huh?
 

[A small pause before tossing another rock into the sea, plopping himself down onto the ground before turning his full attention towards the feed.]
 

I don't remember much about my mom she died when I was real young from a heart condition but at least she wasn't around to see how big of a prick my dad turned out to be. He was a real piece of crap all my life until he crooked and left me with his problems too. 
 

[Denji wasn't about to tell the masses what actually happened to his father after finding out none too recently but that was besides the point here. A half amused burst of laughter erupts as he tries to lighten the mood a bit grinning fiendishly.]
 

I can't be the only one around here with an asshole for a parent so what's all your stories?

my mom gave me up when i was little, but i still loved her. my guardian did their best to raise me in her place, but their own fears meant i didn't get to experience very much at all until they died.

you said you're back? where did you go?

[nutsornothing]

But...Why did your mom do that?

[Denji wishes he could have had a life with his mother, to know what she was really like but was also too young to remember before she passed away because of health difficulties. A subtle nod of his head is given at the latter questioning.]

Yeah, that's right. I went back home...For a whole damn year when it was only a couple of days here.

i'm not really sure. my guardian always said it was to protect me, but it never seemed quite right.

[ oh, right, alhaitham had mentioned something like that. ]

time operates really strangely here. and someone told me you don't have your memories from here when you go back. is that true?

[nutsornothing]

[He squints at that.]

Sounds real suspicious to me...You sure this 'guardian' of yours really cares about ya?

[Denji shakes his head at the latter question.]

Nope. I remember everything so that's kinda weird. Maybe whoever brought us here just like me a lot more than the rest of the people who leave and come back!

yes. they definitely loved me. i've got no doubt about that. [ he could tell, after all, what they felt in their heart. ] but they were scared of a lot of things. more than they needed to be afraid of, i think.

so when you were home for a year, you remembered your time here as well?

[nutsornothing]

So...Maybe they just didn't want anything bad to happen to you, I guess?!

[A subtle shake of his head is given at the latter question.]

Nah- I didn't remember a thing about this place when I went home but it was like I never left when I got back here.

they never told me what could happen, though. maybe it was too painful. it's something lost to time, now.

[ oh, that's more like what he'd heard. ]

yeah, that's what i meant. doesn't that feel really strange? and worrying, that your memories were just gone like that?

[nutsornothing]

[Denji simply shrugs his shoulders at the latter bit.]

Not really? Never thought about it until now but I guess it is pretty weird, huh?

it's definitely weird. why does that happen? aren't the things that occur here important?

Beats me dude! Maybe they don't want us remembering the shit that happens here after we're gone, I guess?
