[Standing upon the water's edge of Eltrut's beach, Denji can be found skipping rocks into the depths of the ocean proper. His focus on the crashing waves with his bare feet absorbed by the rushing waters, a stoic expression washed over his features as he sighs solemnly.]

So who else had shitty parents growing up, huh?

[A small pause before tossing another rock into the sea, plopping himself down onto the ground before turning his full attention towards the feed.]

I don't remember much about my mom she died when I was real young from a heart condition but at least she wasn't around to see how big of a prick my dad turned out to be. He was a real piece of crap all my life until he crooked and left me with his problems too.

[Denji wasn't about to tell the masses what actually happened to his father after finding out none too recently but that was besides the point here. A half amused burst of laughter erupts as he tries to lighten the mood a bit grinning fiendishly.]

I can't be the only one around here with an asshole for a parent so what's all your stories?

I don't recall a life before the Alchemists' Guild. [No hangups about that, don't be silly. That's what her aggressive compartmentalization is for.] I was a ward of the Guild, and the Guild were... [mostly egotistical unethical scientists, 0/10 do not allow to raise children] poor caretakers. Save for one.

But at least one of them was a good parent, right?

[Cue the confused look over his face as he blinks wide eyed as he puts forth his next question.]

So what's an Alchemist Guild?

One, yes. Alfred was kind to us, spent time with us. Like a father more than an instructor.

The Guild was a collection of arcane scholars whose power had waned with the world embracing modern things, new technologies and ways of thinking. I wasn't a pupil or an apprentice, though.

Guess that makes him one of the good ones...Wish I could say the same for my dad he was a drunk asshole who hated me.

[Amongst other things but he wasn't about to tell someone he'd just met that he was almost beaten within an inch of his life before having to defend himself and kill the bastard before he was.]

Uh...Can't say I understand what half that means but it sounds pretty cool?

[He's ever so dumb apologies, Miriam.]

He was, yes. [He's also dead, because Miriam can't have nice things for longer than five minutes.] I am sorry your caretaker was cruel to you.

[She doesn't say father; from that two second description that man certainly didn't sound like one.]

Perhaps they were at one point. But the Guild I knew were selfish and petty, besides Alfred and his apprentice.

It's all good, he's dead now anyways so who cares about that lame ass!

[Denji tried not to dwell on the past especially when it struck a particularly sensitive nerve.]

So this guild of yours...What was it supposed to do?
