[The post is really... more a series of quick mini-videos. Remember Vine? A little like that. But with less purposeful comedy.]
[A video of streets in Eltrut, the person moving along, camera pointed down for a good while, until it swings up so the holder can peer into it. At his heel is a flurry of feathers before the video stops.]
[A couple of the shops - the bookstore, general goods shops. A man's voice can be heard speaking, asking after general supplies. Complete with a squawk in the background as the man's voice asks after a... Bestiary?]
[And finally, the inside of one of the stater apartments, filmed like the phone's owner has just come home. He's speaking to someone not visible, but there's a patter of feet that definitely don't belong to a biped.]
- I know, boy. I know. No convenient way back, far as I can see. [Something trills, avian-like.] We'll keep looking. But for now? Let's get settled.
[And thus, the phone is set down, on a low table. Showing further images of the man, and - and a big grey, griffon face peering into it intently.]
Assan.
[This tone of voice.]
Assan, do not -
[Too late. The griffon has grabbed the camera. Ironically ending the feed there, but not before the sound of a chase is heard.]

Part of my work back home is studying and caring for them.
[Another pat to Bundle's metallic head which- well.
Those sure were a series of happy dial-up noise beeps and trills from it.]
no subject
["Pokemon" is less so, but he's still pretty intrigued by the creature. The trilling gets Assan's attention again, and he shoves his head under Davrin's arm to get a better look.]
You say you study them? You're a scholar then?
no subject
[Dojima called it that after all, something Turo had slowly been adopting.
There is a wave of those red flipper arms from Bundle at the appearance of feathers.]
I do, yes. I even study the various flora and fauna of this world as well- I am known as a Pokémon Professor in my world due to the various fields I am knowledgeable in, if that comes close to what you know of scholars
no subject
[Case in point. Assan.]
[Who has nosed his way back into frame, with Davrin digging fingers into feathery fluff. Casually. Like it's second nature.]
A professor. [He actually chuckles.] Would you believe me if I said you've got the look of one? At least, the one I know.
no subject
[Such as running off with items it should not be attempting to eat.
Those bright blue LEDs were staring and- there was a spark of curiosity in there, pinging around.]
It is a title proudly worn, given each region in my world has one. [So much work and passion behind the earning of it—] Given how much I have seen in this world? I could be easily convinced to.
no subject
[Statues and important artifacts in the Lighthouse are another story.]
[Eventually, Davrin props the phone up on a table, taking a seat on a stool so Assan can both get ear scratches and he can keep talking.]
Only one? [That doesn't seem right.] Well, you look like one I know. A lot like him, actually.
no subject
[A reason he was allowing the pokémon to wander more freely- even if he had another out to help watch at times when it was simply him.]
Yes; while there are other scientists and the like, each region has one Pokémon Professor that focuses on studying and even discovering new things about pokémon and how they interact with or are influence by our world. They will also help prepare young Pokémon Trainers to embark on their own journeys if they decide to take one.
no subject
[With a very pointed glance at the griffon in question. Who just bobs his head.]
So you're something like the head of your group? Order? [What do you call a group of professors?] School? [Emmerich hadn't really enlightened them on that. He'd taught, of course, but...]
no subject
[Which of course- well, any sort of trouble and messes made when a 'game' of chase started.]
Something of the sort; quite a bit of research is shared, including with Pokémon Professors of other regions. I suppose a group of scientists is called a panel, or consortium, if I remember correctly- and the head is often called the Principal Scientist. [So many words for the same thing at times.]
no subject
[Assan definitely agrees, if the noise he makes is any indication.]
So... it's like a college. Something like that?
no subject
[Found them in the oddest of places at times with that.]
More so when coming together, and others attend whatever conferences in hoping of learning something new or figuring out some older mysteries- even tying them together. The Academy I attended very much supported my endeavors, to the point they made a research lab for my use.
no subject
[He's had to rig safety measures into his room to keep the griffon from going through things he shouldn't.]
You sound a lot like a guy I worked with, back in... our world, I guess you'd call it. Except you're studying animals instead of necromancy.
no subject
[Of course while Bundle could be rather child-like, or toddler-like, in its nature here and there Turo could never really call the pokémon simple. It was quite skilled in battle, and strong.
Just made things a little more difficult when the two mind-sets met on rare-occasion.]
Necromancy is something I have looked into here- more so because there was an attack by the reanimated dead through blood rituals when I was a recent arrival. I study plants as well, and have delved into elemental crystals and gems alongside my animal studies- part of why I'm rather proud to be helping run an animal sanctuary here.
no subject
[What is that. He is from medieval times.]
Reanimated dead? Here? Did they find out who was responsible? [Man, Emmerich would be sputtering in outrage over that.] Hold on, animal sanctuary? We stopped by there, earlier. That's your work?
no subject
[One hell of a term.]
There were a number of cultists dealt with a few months ago that seemed to be behind it. Unfortunately they seemed to be part of a larger group, and were trying to summon other creatures from this world's afterlife. [Cassiopea was beautiful to see when groups of them had to cross-over to help on that end.] I am one of the co-founders, and much of my time is spent there if I am not with my crew of working on some other project. I act as medical care for animals and people alike, as needed.
We take volunteers, and allow others to come in and learn- or simply relax.
no subject
[Assan declines to comment.]
Ugh. Cultists. They're everywhere, aren't they. [No matter where you look. Ruining everything for everyone. Just the worst.]
I'm more of a hunter than a caretaker. But studying them is important, all the same. If Assan won't bother them, I might take you up on that.
no subject
[He's still testing what may and may not work when it comes to Bundle's own... brand of mischief at times.]
So they seem to be. I do not doubt that will not be the last we have to deal with something they have done either. [Summon a whole ghost ship and undead army, and then try to rip holes into the afterlife.]
I do not think Assan will be too much of a bother- if nothing else, it means that he will also have a safe space to run around and explore.
no subject
[Thankfully, Assan doesn't have thumbs. That should make it easier.]
Always do. Worse than ant infestations, and not nearly as useful. [Even ants have their uses.] He's safe no matter where he is. Long as I'm breathing. But - he does like other animals.
no subject
[Animal proofing is... little different from child proofing in most aspects after all. The things a curious being will put in their mouths to explore it tactically and then oops--]
Hopefully after the latest incident in is a while before they try to summon anything again. Let loose quite a few spirits who were lost and confused, and a number that were more violent. Even rituals sacrificing innocents for blood for far darker spirits to then use them to form. [A lot had been seen during that entire debacle over the days to weeks it stretched.
There was the head of a different creature that popped up from the bottom of the camera, Turo's hand resting on her head as Mariposa leaned into the affection. One eye still locked and watching, curiosity there.] Then it sounds as if he is in luck, a few of the animals within the sanctuary are there due to being rescued from poachers, so you may need to keep your guard up in the wilds around the various Leviathans and islands. Still, most of them are friendly in turn given the security they feel.
no subject
[Frankly, none of that sounds too different from the Venatori. From the rest of the awful things the team were dealing with. So, they'll be ready.]
[... But what. Is that.]
That's... an interesting hound you have. [Is it a dog? What even is that.]
He's shown himself to be a friend to wildlife that needs it. Him and his siblings, all. So we'll have to stop by in the future.
no subject
[Something that Turo had come to accept, despite his own world being so much more peaceful; wars had stopped, if memory served, when the Professor was still just a young boy.
Mariposa gave a soft woof of a noise, those feathers growing from the ossicones covered in soft velvet like the rest of her; even if a different color.] She is something from this world, and a pack of them have made the sanctuary a home. Rather friendly, they have acted like guards and befriended the other animals as well- Mariposa has decided to stay with me, for one reason or another.
Then he may do very well here when you come by.
no subject
[Caveat - once they're fully grown. Which Assan is... not.]
Interesting... Compared to a normal canine, how intelligent are they? Seems like she's listening.
[Like Assan, or a mabari.]
no subject
[Varies from pokémon to pokémon, of course.]
Very intelligent, so I have observed. I would not be surprised if she were. [For a brief moment there was a smile on Mariposa's muzzle as her head tilted.] They appear naturally inclined toward being guardians, and take care in familiarizing themselves to an area- I have watched the pack within the sanctuary move in to practically adopt a lone cerberus puppy one of our volunteers cares for, along with a group of trained guard dogs rescued from a rather cruel man. They check in with our volunteer guards and run patrol with them as well.
They are quite fascinating, and their appearance reminds me of two creatures of my world.
no subject
[Meanwhile... very, very interesting.]
Is that just the pack in the area? Do the wild ones do the same thing? [He's going to have to start a whole new section of his bestiary. Especially since it looks like he's going to have time on his hands.] Apologies if I sound like an interrogator.
Monsters - strange creatures... I made my name as someone who was called in to hunt them. Always involved a lot of study. [He adds, after a moment:] Not that I'm looking to hunt your friend there. Professional curiosity, more like.
no subject
I have only caught glimpses of other packs, but they appear to be the same- the pack within the sanctuary are wild themselves, and simply have decided to stay on their own. [Which was even more fascinating in all honesty-] No need, I have very much done the same due to my own interest and have worked on a bestiary of my own- you are welcome to it, as it's something I keep for public access in the sanctuary along with my personal copy as I continue my research.
It is better to know what you may have to hunt- and what you may simply have to relocate if you are being told something not quite true, perhaps. [There was a soft smile, and a hand briefly lifted.] I understand, there are similiar jobs in my world. Some creatures can be dangerous if they wander too close, or something angers them. A kill is not always the end result, but sometimes choices must be made- and people eat meat. Perhaps swapping notes from time to time could be beneficial to us both here.
It may already be apparent, but I do enjoy speaking of, and simply discussing wildlife and how they are connected to the world around them.
