[The device turns on, a curious reindeer with a blue nose being rather close to it.] Is it working? It's on now?

[And then he notices it seems to be working and tries to hide. Only to still have about two-thirds of himself still visible anyway. He is still not quite grasping that concept of cover, and hiding meaning he can't just keep peeking out like that.

Still, after a bit, he returns to the device, picking it up and tilting his head, his ears shifting as he inspects it again.]

Hello? Um....I'm Chopper. Tony Tony Chopper. I was wondering if there are any of the other Straw Hats here. If not, I guess I'll figure it out myself. But um. I'm a doctor. So, if anyone gets hurt or sick, I can try to help. I just got here so I'm still figuring this place out. But I'm sure I can manage! It's a whole new world to explore! A whole new map to discover! And lots more delicious food, like cotton candy!

[Right? He's got this. Totally got this. He isn't actually absolutely terrified at being here alone at all. And wasn't just bawling his eyes out upon finding himself initially without familiar faces. It's not like this sort of reminds him of being left alone on the Merry to look after it while the rest of the crew went off to find their precious gold.]

Okay, um, this isn't like the phones back home, I guess I just push this....?

[Cue a teeny hoof pushing the button to hang up. Look at him figuring this out!]

It would help if you told us who the Straw Hats are.

Oh. Right. There's Luffy, Zoro, Sanji and Nami! And Usopp and Robin, too!

Luffy is our captain. He's a human but he can stretch like rubber. He wears a straw hat and a red top and shorts. Zoro has green hair, and he has his three swords. Sanji is blond and he's our cook. Nami has red hair and she's our navigator. Usopp is really great at telling stories. He has a long nose people make fun of for some reason. Robin is our historian and she's really smart! She also has the ability to make lots of hands? It's pretty useful sometimes. Have you seen anyone like that?

[What a colorful crew. Some of them would definitely stand out in a crowd.] Sorry. None of them sound familiar, but I haven't been here for very long. Maybe someone else might have seen them.

[Cue the dumbfounded look plastered over Denji's face when he sees the little creature appear on the feed introducing himself. Was this thing some sort of tiny bear with sticks protruding out its hat?! Whatever the case may be the teenager simply shrugs at the initial question with a shake of his head.]

Never heard of these straw hat people but uh...Just what's your deal!? Are you some kinda animal science experiment gone wrong?!

[Sorry Tony he's not the sharpest tool in the shed but he means well most of the time. An amused grin quickly forming over his features at the latter part when they mention food and exploration.]

This place has all kinds of bomb food that's for damn sure! My crew has a ship with the best restaurant around its got all sorts of different burgers and ridiculously good milkshakes you definitely need to hit up soon!

Oh! And Franky! He's really big! And he's the one that fixes our ship. He's got these metal parts, like his nose and his arm and stuff! They're not? Well. Maybe they're here still! Maybe you just haven't seen them yet. I just haven't found them yet.

[Not that it would likely take long. If any of them were around, they would likely be attracting some sort of attention, because....it's them. Especially Luffy. Chopper can hold out hope for a bit longer! He's disappointed but trying not to cry. Again. He can do this!]

Science experiment? No. Nothing like that. I'm just a reindeer! I ate a Devil Fruit back home, so I can walk, talk, and look like this.

[He tries to explain, knowing his appearance can be odd and confuse people. Or scare them. But he tries not to. His smaller form like this seems less threatening, anyway.]

Saying a place is the best restaurant is a big ask! I'll have to come and try the milkshakes!

[Denji blinks wide eyed at the first bit leaning a bit closer towards the feed of his own device.]

Did you say devil fruit?! So you're a devil too!?

[Now you've peeked his interests! As for the bit about the restaurant he nods furiously in quick succession with his right hand clenching into a fist.]

I live to eat so ya can trust me on that but if you don't believe me the first round of burgers and milkshakes are on me! Whatcha say!?

Me? No. I'm not a devil. That's just what the fruit I ate is called. I ate the Human-Human Fruit. So it's made me more like a human. Other Devil Fruits have given people different powers, like looking like someone else, their body being like rubber that it can stretch, or all sorts of different abilities. But anyone who eats one can't swim after that.

[Which makes being on a ship obviously have some downsides in needing to be careful to not go overboard.]

Yeah? Okay! I'll give it a try! You don't have to do that, though.

[Yeaaa definitely would have noticed them by now.] ...I'll keep an eye out for them and let them know you're here if I do see them.

Sounds like you had all the essentials covered with a crew like that. And you're a doctor?

"Straw Hats" eh? And just what exactly is a Straw Hat in this context, Doctor?

[Eggman is...not especially surprised at a furry creature claiming to be a Doctor. At the very least, he can gauge his ability.]

Straw Hats! They're our crew! On our Pirate Ship back home. Luffy, Usopp, Zoro, Nami, Sanji, me and Robin, and Franky too. You haven't seen any of them, have you?

[He has zero idea that he. Probably shouldn't be trusting Eggman. The guy just seems curious in asking about his crew? So far?]

So you're both a pirate and a medical doctor? Interesting.

I can't say I've heard of any noteworthy pirate crews since I washed up here.

Tell me, what's your current field of medical study?

You will? Thank you!

[....He really, really misses his found fam Straw Hats. A lot.]

Ah, yes! I am! Doctor Tony Tony Chopper. If anyone gets sick or hurt, I'll do my best!

I am, that's right! A place like this, with people looking for treasure and all, I figured there'd be a lot of pirates!

[Chopper figures he just is new. So, of course, Chopper needs to explore more and ask around. Figure things out. See who else is around.]

I'm learning all sorts! I know how to do surgery and treat most injuries. And I know about medicines, remedies, and ointments from plants back home. But I'm sure there will be more to learn while here too!

How long have you been practicing? [Chopper just sounds really young.]

It's been a while? A few years? Why?

[Shadow is not wrong. Chopper is still just a teenager. The youngest of his crew, in fact.]

[That's honestly really impressive.] Nothing. Just glad to have a compentent doctor. [That isn't hellbent on ruining lives.]

You haven't even seen me treat anyone yet.

[But Chopper will always accept compliments.

And cotton candy.]

Were you saying all that just to gloat? [People will find out real quick if he's the real deal.]

No? I mean it! I'm going to be a great doctor who can cure any disease and treat anyone that needs my help! I'm gonna learn as much as I can to help everyone!

[Do not doubt him! He is serious! And determined! And genuine about this! The most sincere reindeer!]

[Cure any disease huh...] Then my claim still stands. The only doctor I know from home isn't as dedicated to helping others as you are.

Just because one doctor doesn't feel the same way as I do, doesn't mean I don't want to do my best. One person isn't indicative of everyone as a doctor.

[Chopper does not know who this doctor is. But even so. It doesn't sound like the best example. Maybe someone who knows their theory but isn't as great about their bedside manner? Their compassion and empathy for others?]

That wasn't...nevermind. Of course I don't think all doctors are like him.

Good. We're not. I'm not. I care about my patients. I'll treat anyone who needs help. Even the Marines!

[He can't just ignore if someone needs help. He's a doctor. That's his job. If someone is sick or hurt, to care for them.]

[ Zelda looks to be thinking carefully about Chopper's question. ]

Hmm, I've seen quite the variety of straw hats for sale in the markets here on Eltrut. Is there a particular style you fancy?
