[ good afternoon esco network!! today's video brings youuu...


and then drayton's arm coming into view to scoop this adorable noodle up and focus the camera on his face! which also brings into view the... three other dratinis draped around both himself...

and a very very unimpressed-looking kieran in the background. the dratini kieran is carrying is a cute shade of pink compared to its grey-blue siblings. ]

What's up! Man, we've had a fun couple of days. Turns out that whole Dragon's Gale thing doesn't mess around, even if the dragons aren't locals.

[ there is a slight strain in his cheery tone that might be attributed to the menacing dark aura kieran is giving off behind him while he says all this. ]

Long story short, we've ended up with this bunch'a baby Dratinis on our hands. They're cute as heck, and pretty well-behaved, but any Dragon-type that's gonna spend some time around humans should have some socialising. So we're givin' everyone a rare, excluuusive opportunity to interact with these adorable lil' guys while we, uh, decide what to do with 'em.

[ the dratini he'd picked up at the start makes a pleased trilling noise, one matched by the pink one kieran is holding. drayton smiles, still slightly strained, and lowers the camera so he's just out of frame and begins talking offscreen in hushed, but still audible tones. ]

Man, c'mon, at least say somethin'!

("Say somethin'?? This is your fault anyway! Why should I say anythin'??")

Again, how is this my-- ahh, hold on.

[ the feed ends with a clatter. ]

[Once that feed is ended, Kieran wastes no time in laying into Drayton some more.]

Who's the one who didn't keep a close eye on their Dragonite, huh?? If you'd've kept 'er in check and away from my Dragonite, this wouldn'ta happened!!

[ raises both eyebrows at him. ]

They're allowed to hang out if they want. If you were so worried, why wasn't yours bein' [ airquotes ] "kept in check"?

Mine's way better behaved an' you know it!!

[He can't help the way he bristles at the comment. He knows how to raise Pokemon! He raised a team that stomped on Drayton's, after all!]

B'sides, my Dragonite can't make eggs!

Discipline in battle ain't the same as behaviour. They're Dragon-types, and real smart ones. Your Dragonite's a sweet Pokemon, ex-Champ, not some stoic soldier.

[ FROWNS. and points at him. ]

Mine can't on her own either. Don't blame her jus' because she's a girl.

[He growls in frustration, briefly turning away and roughly scratching at the back of his head before frowning at Drayton again.]

How’re you so calm about this?? This is a big deal!!

[ it's posed as an actual question, arms crossed raised eyebrow and all. ]

We've both raised Pokemon from eggs before. The Prof's here, and there's not that many of 'em. They're a friendly species, and in case you forgot, I am a dragon tamer. As far as surprises go, this one's not that bad.

[ohwowzers]

But that's back home, Drayton! With other Pokemon trainers and Pokemon Centers and places that can look after 'em if we can't! We don't got any of that here!

[As Drayton looks calm with his arms crossed, Kieran looks quite frustrated, and the only thing keeping him from gesturing wildly with his hands is the small bundle of pink in his arms.]

We don't even have Pokeballs to put 'em in for safekeepin'! What if someone steals 'em?? Or if they get sick?? What if somethin' happens and the Professor can't help 'em??

[breezily]

There's so many different people from all different places here. If somethin' happens to us or the professor, someone'll be able to care for 'em. Or they can look after themselves, by then.

[ it's not like his expression is devoid of concern; kieran's points are logical, but. ]

You're puttin' the cart before the Mudsdale here. We'll find ways to handle it. You're capable, and so am I.

[Kieran pauses, looking down at the pink Dratini in his hands. It looks concerned; is it worried about his outbursts? Kieran forces himself to take a breath, holding the little pink noodle a little closer before looking back at Drayton. When he speaks, he's a little calmer... or at least trying to be.]

If we were back home, I'd have an easier time believin' ya. It's just... bein' in this place, it's... I can't help but be worried for 'em.

[breezily]

[ ah. the power of a cute little creature expressing its concern. drayton gives the dratini a soft look, very fond, and listens more attentively now that kieran's tone has evened out. ]

I know. It's not like this is ideal for anyone. [ he'll reach up to pet the dratini around his shoulders. ] There's good aspects too, though. If you spend all your time puttin' the potential negatives foot first, you're gonna end up stressin' yourself in circles.

[ohwowzers]

[Indeed, the power of cute definitely has some power to help stop those spiralling thoughts! He sees how happy those other Dratini are around Drayton's shoulders, and takes a look at the little one in his hands again. They all look so happy... He'd hate for anything to happen to them.]

[Still... as much as he hates to admit it, Drayton has a point. Though he frowns, he's gently petting the Dratini's crest as he looks up at Drayton once more.]

I dunno why, I just... I'm worried. I ain't never been this worried 'bout Pokemon I bred before, I'unno why...

[Whoops that's more of his accent slipping out than he intended.]

We're in a tough spot, I get it. But don't go throwin' the blame on me or my Dragonite, and don't start freakin' out when we're just gettin' to know these little guys.
