Warnings: False Arrest, sounds like brutality and all that comes with

[There was the blurred streaks of color as the shellphone feel, hitting the ground and only showing the floor and several different pairs of boots- well, a few pair looked uniform while another stood out with how well worn they were.

Abruptly cut on.]

—I'm afraid you are mistaken. I don't know any of those names--

[Turo's voice, a slight edge to it as he was backed into what had to have been his desk by one of those pairs of uniform boots.

Another voice, one that sounded as if they had it all figured out. Or perhaps itching to see what would be the reward for a job 'well done' with this.

"Think you could keep going without anyone catching on? All of those secret and private meeting with Corsair? Your crystal and gem studies? Too much information for them to get on their own, unless they had a Paladin insider with as much access as you've got. How much you look into. How convenient it is you own a place where you could store away rare animals and then pluck them up to sell at high demand? Crystalized, or for parts." So, so smug.

Oh, that worn pair of boots took a single step forward at that flow of accusations.]

I beg your fucking pardon—

[The sound of that desk forcefully pushed back and something rather heavy forced against it, shellphone skittering across the floor and knocked onto a lower shelf, only viewing a glowing pink bottle of healing spray. Only the sounds of what was going on with that view, the liquid sparkling and at least some sort of light as it shifted in the bottle.

There was the sound of metal snapping and rushed steps as there was a call to grab the man, get him restrained before he could pull 'anything else' funny. Get him out of here before any of those 'weird animals' he sent off came back. Could come back for anyone else working with him after all, couldn't get far from their reach.

Struggle, and the sound of Turo being muffled as he was possibly being dragged and then carried away with those sounds of metal.

The silence that came after was eerie, heavy-- but there was a paw that soon enough fished out and flipped the shellphone, showing a cat that looked concerned and a 'dog' that shared that expression leaning over to sniff at the shellphone-

Black went the feed. Cut off.]

Post...

WHAT THE FUCK--

[BELLOWED loud enough to echo, startling the cloud hoppers he'd just been checking in on--

He was already racing back, heart pounding-- no no no no, was Turo being accused because of what he'd done at the auction house?!--

He'd never be able to forgive himself...!!]

[Only a few minutes after, another post on the shell net would appear--

Picture of the messed up office, with a simple note-- from username detectiveforhierophant.]

The Paladins took Professor Turo. I'm going to get him back.

Volunteers needed to make sure no one tries to poach anything while he and I'm gone.

(Dojima, if you don't think Chris also came running...

Anyway, they weren't at the facility when this happened--which is probably for the best, the fake charge is bad enough can you imagine dealing with a bunch of entirely real "assaulted an officer" charges--so it'll take them a few minutes to get there, but they will get there. And well, even if he's started moving by that time they can sense his mind, they'll catch up.)

Dojima! Wait!

Action

[personal profile] detectiveforhierophant 2025-03-13 01:41 pm (UTC)(link)
[Spiraling rage, fear and guilt. That's what would first greet Chris' mind. Images of a young girl-- Nanako, on a hospital bed with a breathing mask, a frantic call from a young teenager that Nanako was missing, car crashing, pain in his chest and head, a foggy day with Chisato bleeding out and pale on the ground, her neck broken, breaking open glass to let a mermaid free, taking a book while releasing animals-- Begging a two teenagers, one masculine and one androgynous, to please save Nanako for him--]

[He was fortunately still in the building, gathering up Turo's Masterballs. He'd need to find the Pokemon, especially Miraidon--]

--Chris.

[His voice was--- oddly calm. Even as that all broiled beneath the surface, they might feel there was an attempt to tamp it down, to do something Chris had taught him--

But it was like stuffing boxes and boxes into an overstuffed closet, only for it to burst forth again, and Dojima sighed in frustration.]

Sorry. Don't have the capacity right now to hold my thoughts back.

[Getting his service pistol out of the locked desk drawer--]

Any idea where the Paladins took him? There's the general locations on Elah, but I suspect they might put him somewhere worse.

It's alright. I mostly just wanted you to hide the sex, anyway.

(Normally they wouldn't be that blunt about that particular topic, but today isn't a normal day.)

Paladin prison island, probably. Or something similar. (Their expression darkens at the memory.) Or they handed him over to whoever created the fake charge. (The cops could be fooled to think it's legit... or these ones could have been bribed, or directly in the employ of someone more nefarious. Always pays to have a mole in enemy forces. Or they're not cops at all.) We need a plan.

[personal profile] detectiveforhierophant 2025-03-13 02:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Fair enough.

[--You also knew it was serious when Dojima didn't even bother getting flustered over the statement. Unimportant right now, just a fact of their-- friendship? Was it fair to call it that now? Not as close as Turo was to them, due to their shared understanding, but... Yeah. He trusted Chris.]

We do. It's possible they'll make a public statement of his arrest, since there's been heat on both sides to figure out the culprits of those living crystal statues and auction houses, and it'd be a good way to focus the citizens ire onto someone else, but I don't feel like we can wait that long.

[Chris might notice the myriad of jars, clean rags, alcohol bottles and the match book on one of the tables near by. Dojima hadn't started working on those...yet.]

If it's on one of the other islands, we'll need to grab Emet to get the boat close enough that I can use Miraidon to swim to the island, and it has climbing and offroad abilities, as well as an ability to glide. I've been working with Turo's Pokemon pretty consistantly so they'll obey me, but some should stay here to guard the Conservatory. I may need to reach out to 76 to ask for help since he's been hanging around here and has combat training.

[--Despite the raging thoughts in his head, he did seem to be also... compartmentalizing. Focusing on the immediate tasks, step by step--]

...Bundle and Moth should stay here, maybe Hands as well, and I can take Valiant, Thorns and Miraidon.
telepathicignorance: (Thoughtful)

For what it's worth, you're one of the more tolerable humans.

(Friend, huh? It's weird, they think, having so many people who want them around despite knowing them. Knowing what they are.

Coming from Chris, their own words are practically a love confession. Are there platonic love confessions? If there are, Chris would probably be dumb enough to fo thrm, refusing to say anything nice until on their deathbed they finally confess to seeing you as a friend all along.

They take in the bottles and other supplies.)

While I agree with being prepared, lighting the cops on fire is more likely to put both you and Turo permanently on the run than actually help.

(Big burst of flames. Hard to control. Good for murder and fear and destruction but not much else. Innocents, civilians, even the people they need to rescue are at risk of getting caught up in the fire.

Shaped charges would be better for something like this.)

76? (They haven't met him yet.)

It's possible they'll go after more people than just Turo. Should reach out to other crews, see who's missing. I know a lot of bullshit bounties are being posted. There's probably more people willing to help save their friends.

Might be able to get some of the stronger magical animals to help too.

[He'd hold out the paper for Chris to read, in Kaveh's writing--]

More pipebombs focused on making smoke but limited damage. I'd never agree to anything more deadly, and set them up in areas out of the way to distract the guards, depending on where they took him.

[He may be pissed off but he wasn't going to murder people. He'd only been in that state once, at his worst, to one man and though this... was definitely fraying those parts of him, hitting on those stresses, that fear of loss of control and loss of what he cared about the most, he--

He'd never be able to look Turo in the eyes again if he went that far.

But. He was going to make them regret it if they got in his way.]

Right, I'll take a look and see if anyone else has posted similar. [Pulling up his Shellphone--

Ah, right, Chris didn't know-- 76.

He'd close his eyes a moment, focusing on visualization. Both 76's initial look, when he first arrived, and what he wore now, more commonly, his weapons, physical strength-- the critter that was at his side or on his back most days--]

Ex American Soldier, going by the name Soldier 76 here. Genetically altered for a war against non sentient Robots controlled by a God AI wanting to wipeout humanity. Then worked along side those Robots-- called Omnics-- when they were given sentience and free will to stop the AI and lock it down.

[Really focusing on getting those-- words accross, but not saying them out loud. Just to tell Chris but also give 76 some privacy. He hoped the man would understand.]

He saved my ass when I got nearly caught by guards at the Auction house I was in--

[Hey so you get to see first person view of Dojima breaking a mermaid from her prison tank, releasing her into the ocean, and then RUNNING FOR IT when the security detail came for him--

And a hand grabbing him and pulling him tight into a corner while the guards searched the room full of animals.]

76 has been camping in the Conservatory and helping to train me with some skills that are useful with being the warden. Good man, I trust him.

Get Good.

Very much not Dojima's voice, a gravelly sort of tone, but also dry as hell-- obviously a joke to Dojima--
telepathicignorance: (Startle)

[personal profile] telepathicignorance 2025-03-15 06:45 am (UTC)(link)
Huh. These could be adapted into shaped charges instea--wait, Kaveh wrote this?

(Stupid, nice, weak Kaveh with his fashion obsession and his stupid asshole husband? That Kaveh? The one who is way too obsessed with looking fashionable?

Huh. They guess everyone has hidden depths.

They're so derailed they actually struggle to tune into Dojima's mental projection of Soldier 76.)

Huh.
detectiveforhierophant: (I'm not that slow you know)

[personal profile] detectiveforhierophant 2025-03-15 06:03 pm (UTC)(link)
--Glad to know I wasn't the only one caught off guard by that.

He's smiling a bit, relieved that even the psychic mind reader had missed that about Kaveh--]

Then again, he reminds me of my nephew's best friend back home-- [a brief mental picture of Yosuke Hanamura, wide smiles, standing next to the teen by now Chris could pick out was Dojima's nephew--] and that kid had depths I never would've guessed.
telepathicignorance: (Thoughtful)

[personal profile] telepathicignorance 2025-03-16 07:24 am (UTC)(link)
Really? (They pluck the image from Dojima's head and note the faces, in case they ever see these kids.) He mostly just reminds me of his stupid husband and his stupid attitude.

(Back to being a petty child, apparently.) Didn't think he had it in him to make something like this. (The explosive recipe looks really simple to make, and you don't have to put much in the pipe to get a good boom. It's a good recipe, they have to admit. However grudgingly. Just gonna take out their shellphone and snap a pic for their own future reference.)
detectiveforhierophant: (Huh?)

[personal profile] detectiveforhierophant 2025-03-24 01:30 pm (UTC)(link)
[Huh. Chris wasn't usually so vocal about one particular person, more so... humans/humanity in general.]

Oil and water situation with you two, huh?

--And me neither. But... he was apparently pretty anti-establishment during a rough time back in his home world.

[Just, thinking about what Kaveh had said, about corruptive power...]

detectiveforhierophant: (Be precise)

2/2

[personal profile] detectiveforhierophant 2025-03-24 01:35 pm (UTC)(link)
[But... deep breath. Okay.]

As much as everything inside me is screaming to go after them now, I have to make sure the Conservatory is taken care of and protected. If I go after Turo and this place gets raided in the mean time...

[A glance to that forbidden tome he had... 'borrowed', of all the rare and useful items one could get from wild animals here...]

It'd crush him, and I'd be a hell of a failure as a warden. For all we know, this is ploy by the actual poachers to get free access here. So I need to get this place locked down first-- and figure out where Turo was taken.
telepathicignorance: (ANGY)

[personal profile] telepathicignorance 2025-03-25 05:12 am (UTC)(link)
He figured out I was a telepath and accused me of intentionally invading his mind when I'd been trying to block him out. He thinks he knows more about my power than I do because he knows a telepath in his world. Or something like one.

(He can probably imagine how poorly Chris might react to that.

...But that's not relevant.)

You know there's me and other people to help guard things, right? Hawks always has a bird's eye view and I can talk to the animals.

(And there's the soldier guy he mentioned. He should be able to help too.)

And then he sets down some jars, several bottles of alcohol, and clean rags, with a note of paper folded over a book of matches. The paper has a formula for the correct ratios to make something that creates a lot of smoke but less noise.]

[--And he couldn't help but laugh. Shit, what had his life become? The Ryotaro Dojima from just over a year ago would have never thought to... or well, would've never acted on doing this against authority like this--

And here he was, absolutely willing to, taking the paper and glancing at it, noting the instructions.]

I guess you can definitely understand the stress I'm under, huh? I really appreciate the help.

[Breaking into a place to save Turo from being framed? Not even a question in his mind. If he had to switch to being a Corsair, thrown out of the Paladins? He didn't give a shit. He was protecting his family.]

Multitalented guy, huh? Knowing exactly how to help.

I graduated top of my class in engineering, Dojima, and I'm--well, you could say I'm well-acquainted with the bottom of a bottle.

[Kaveh lifts his shoulders, and shrugs. The less they say now...the better it will be for the conservatory.]

Anything else I could do...is a little more dangerous to the people around me. But if that's what you end up needing, don't hesitate to call me.
detectiveforhierophant: (Moodlighting)

[personal profile] detectiveforhierophant 2025-03-14 12:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Got it.

[A nod, though a frustrated sound. Rubbing his forehead, feeling a headache come on, but he had to push past it.]

--Either this is a serious fuck up of some hotshot newbie, or intentionally framing Turo because someone in the Paladins or higher up nobility is in on the scheme and trying to divert attention. From the recording... Turo is the perfect person to frame, because of all his involvements out of his good nature and curiousity. It's going to be a tough case to convince them...

[Case of Dojima tazing anyone who got in the way of him freeing Turo]

Has there been anyone else they're rounding up, have you heard?
empyrean_mirror: (20)

[personal profile] empyrean_mirror 2025-03-14 02:18 pm (UTC)(link)
...A few. [Kaveh exhales out through his nose.] A few of the bounties look pretty suspicious, too.

Dojima, have you ever lived under a corrupt government before?
detectiveforhierophant: (What am I missing?)

[personal profile] detectiveforhierophant 2025-03-14 04:18 pm (UTC)(link)
[He... actually has to think about it. How would he describe the Japanese Government?]

...No more corrupt than any other modern government that functions as a democracy in my world. There's scandals, backroom deals, organized crime, 'favours'... but things... function, people can live comfortably, they're not starving. There's... transparency, I guess. Journalists can investigate, there's freedom of the press, people can vote for their elected officials...

[It's hard for him to gauge, because... he thinks that, but did he know? He was part of the Police-- ]

But I've learned about things that were even more... corrupt. Both in the past and currently... Dictatorships. One guy on top commanding and controlling everyone else, where everything benefits him.
empyrean_mirror: (43)

[personal profile] empyrean_mirror 2025-03-14 04:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmm.

[A strange nation. Much like Inazuma and Mondstadt had a baby. But then, Dojima's world seems to be one free of gods, and maybe that makes a difference.]

You've got appointments to keep, so I'll give you the short version, but Sumeru's leaders...imprisoned our archon. Suppressed the arts. Controlled access to information. A nation of Wisdom, but only the Wisdom they wanted people to see, and only to the people they deemed worthy of it.

They turned on their people. Preyed on them, to try and create a new god. So Alhaitham, and the others--overthrew the sages. Freed our Archon. It will be a long time setting things right. But it was what needed to happen, when a government turns on the people it swore to serve.

[Kaveh tilts his head a bit.] You understand?

[If the Paladins have become so poisonously corrupt as to serve these monsters...then tear the entire armada down to scrap wood for the fire.]
detectiveforhierophant: (Let's go over it again)

[personal profile] detectiveforhierophant 2025-03-24 04:14 pm (UTC)(link)
[He'd already figured out that Inazuma and Japan had an eerie amount of cross over-- almost mirrors of one another.

But, listening... Archon, right. Their form of a powerful god that actually walked amoung humans.]

...If the government turns on it's people and uses them to further the ends of the few individuals at the top instead of the population as a whole, that's just a dictatorship.

[His eyes are focused further away as he mulls over what he'd do, if it was back home. He knew, during the Inaba Case, he didn't push as hard as Naoto-kun did about Mitsuo being only a copy cat, and not the original murderer. He had brought it up, but...

...If it was just him, he'd push. He knew that much about himself when he was younger. But with his daughter, and Souji... ]

...It can get harder to push back against those sorts of things, when you have people depending on you to get them fed and looked after.

[Softly murmured, but a shake of his head.]

--Anyway, thank you, Kaveh.

[A slight, lopsided smile.]

When Turo gets back here, we... have a business related thing to talk to you about. If you're up for some architectual work along with all this. [Vague gesture to the bottles and chemicals.]
empyrean_mirror: (59)

[personal profile] empyrean_mirror 2025-03-24 04:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I know. That's why I'm here. [Kaveh tilts his head gently towards the box. His life is not his own, or he'd be throwing the grenades himself.]

Sometimes...it's because there's so much to lose that we must. But I'm not telling you anything you don't know, am I?

[Kaveh smiles, in spite of himself.]

Of course, Dojima. My door's always open.

In the meantime, I think my time will be spent elsewhere. I'll work on building a case of evidence to prove his innocence. I've been working on the crystallization case. I have some information already.

I know Emet-Selch, but I'll be fine. I have enough disguises at my disposal and the ability to switch midday if need be.

[ After watching the video again, Sherlock adds another point of information. ]

I briefly investigated an alchemist believed to have bought the animal parts. Nothing was crystalized on the monster I encountered. Nor did I see any hint of any creature under our care. That is more evidence towards Professor Turo's innocence.

If presenting evidence is not enough, we go to the press and apply public opinion to our cause.
