[ When Nimona appears on the shellphone, she's wearing a manta ray onesie and has an extremely big manta ray plush as her pillow. ]

I know some big terrible things are happening right now, but that's kinda the point of this. I just need a distraction, because I dunno if I'm gonna get much sleep anyway.

[ She'd rather be out there searching, breaking things... ]

Let's talk about our worlds. It can be about anything. Stories, legends, stuff that's happened to you personally, whatever. I'll start.

[ The shellphone is propped up. ]

My world is weird. We've got knights and a kingdom, but we've also got crazy levels of tech compared to this place. Flying vehicles, laser weapons, those sort of hologram screens. Don't ask me how any of it really works, I only know how to use it.

We've got royalty... though the queen was recently killed. Not sure who's gonna be in charge now. I don't pay that close of attention to what the humans do. And we've got our old stories too. Mostly about a monster and the woman who defeated it a thousand years ago and became a hero.

[ Nimona points at herself. ]

It's me, I'm the "monster". Not really a monster, though, just different from everyone else in my world.

That sounds like an awesome story! I mean, not for the guy who was executed, but for everyone else. You're either a pirate rushing to find the treasure - fighting off other pirates and the people who keep order and justice or one of those order and justice people. Sounds like there's a lot of adventure!

[ She's trying to change her story, to remove the "monster" label. It's a Process, but something she got to start back home. ]

This is my secret disguise for blending in with people. [ Nimona shifts to be a shark - still wearing the manta ray onesie then back again. ] I can do a lot more, too. Well, you're in luck. This place is really accepting of people who are different. You're gonna fit right in around here.

I'm a pirate! My captain wants to find the One Piece and be king of the pirates. That's his dream! So we're exploring and looking for it.

[And working on everyone else's dreams as well. They're a team. They're in this together.]

A disguise? Oh! Sort of like what I do. I can't quite totally transform like you can, though. You think so? At least, people here haven't been that scared of me.

Have you been in any epic battles yet? Did things blow up? Do you man the cannons?

[ These are the things a girl needs to know. ]

Really? What do you transform into? Yep, I know so! I've been here over a year and shown people my worst side and they're just like "oh Nimona, what a cute little shadow dragon you are, lemme make you hot chocolate and food!"

Plenty of fights. That tends to happen a lot with this crew. I help where I can! Sometimes that's with directions, steering the ship. Sometimes it might be with the cannons.

[More often though, Chopper is running around panicked and trying to help patch them up. Because Zoro and Luffy especially are reckless as heck.]

Hee. That sounds nice.

Wait. Dragon?

I wish they'd let me man the cannons more often. I'm a great shot.

[ They don't because she'd shoot everyone. ]

Yeah, dragon. I'm a shapeshifter. I can become all kinds of different animals.

I'm fine helping steer. Or just focusing on studying. I gotta be prepared, as a doctor, and keep up to date!

[Eh. That is what cannons are for? To shoot???]

All kinds? That's pretty neat! I can see that being really useful!

Eh, steering is boring unless there's a storm or something exciting happening. Have you seen a lot of injuries? Did anyone lose a limb yet?

[ Why does she sound so excited about the idea? ]

Oh yeah, great for sneaking around and getting places I shouldn't be. I even got into a prison and broke a guy out before!

Wh -- no! Nobody lost a limb! You broke someone out of prison before? What had they done?

Aw, darn. My friend had his arm chopped off once. [ She props her chin into her hand. ] Yep, sure did! Well he was framed for the assassination of the queen. The whole world thought he planned the whole thing and wasn't just a victim.

Wh- Whaaaaat??? He was framed for assassinating the Queen, so they chopped his arm off?!

[Chopper, back home people are executed for less......]

See here's what happened. Some evil lady swapped his sword out with a different one, when he was kneeling and getting knighted by Queen, the hilt came out and a huuuuge laser beam shot out. Even after she was killed, it was still going - so another knight chopped off his arm to disarm the weapon.

I don't think he meant to, but he wanted to stop more people from getting hurt. It happened pretty fast.

To disarm - they didn't need to chop his arm off! Was he okay? That's serious!

[That's a lot of blood loss. An immediate need for treatment. Chopper can't help but to fret about this. At least, back in his time, that would have been very serious. Not an immediate death sentence, necessarily, but even so.]

It's definitely not a great love language act. Yeah, he's okay. Built his own replacement mechanical arm.

[ Even though he was on the run, he managed to get medical supplies. Not that Nimona was around for that part. ]

Ohhh! Like Franky! He's got more replacement parts than just one arm, but. He's our shipwright back home.

[Franky would decidedly stand out. If he were to ever show up. So Chopper is pretty sure he would know if and when the guy were to arrive.]

Sadly it doesn't have any special features equipped. Probably because I wasn't around. So Franky lost more than just an arm?

[ She's too invested in it. ]

It's still good that he had a prosthetic to help, something. I think Franky'd be the better one to ask about that, but. Yeah. He was like, part....what's the word? Like a cyborg? With parts of him being prosthetics. Weapons.

[He tries to explain as best he can. He just also doesn't necessarily think it's his story to tell. Franky could tell it and go into specifics, answer questions, if and when he might show up.]

Oooo, that sounds cool! I want to meet a cyborg. And see all of Franky's weapons! Does he have any rocket launchers?

Uh, he would probably be able to tell you more about his weapons. Or Sanji with his swords. I'm more focused on keeping them alive.

[Chopper and his life dealing with the Straw Hats and their shenanigans. Luffy and Zoro, especially. But he does his best. Helps out where he can. It really wouldn't kill them to not be quite so reckless. But then. It wouldn't be them if they weren't.]

Keeping them alive is good. Have you ever given anyone a peg leg?

[ Is that a thing that happens in Chopper's world if they have cyborgs and technology to do that? ]

Huh? No. One of the chefs Sanji worked with before he joined us had one, though?

[Chopper says. But that wasn't him. He'd had that peg leg long before Chopper had met Sanji and the others. So it probably doesn't really count. He himself hadn't done anything like that.]

Shame. I wanted to hear stories about you giving someone a peg leg.

[ She likes the gruesome stories, okay? ]

Sorry to disappoint? I haven't had to help with something like that yet. If you want, I can show you some of my medical books sometime, though. That's probably got some illustrations or examples of some medical treatments or surgeries?

[Does that count? Maybe not quite the same. But he's trying to help?]
