As do I- a good story can inspire quite a bit, after all.

[It was said with a chuckle, a hand ruffling Mariposa's ears and those bright feathers even as he spoke.]

Many stories bring up fire, them being bringers of it and using it against creatures to protect those they have deemed to protect. A single person, families, or entire towns kept warm by the Xolos' fires that keep the protected warm and burn those who seek their harm.

Others speak of them guarding certain souls, as if reborn, finding them each time no matter how many of their own fires go out and burn brightly over and over. Some speak of them coming from the Farplane originally, as if that is the source of their flame. Guardians and guides alike, able to look into someone's soul and deciding from that to never leave their side in life or in death.

A more complete one I found involved a lost child, separated from their entire people by rushing waters and darkness- [Which led into an entire pack coming across the nameless child, taken in and fed, treated like the older pups. Taught to hunt, and somehow even taught how to fashion animals hides for clothing; legends could be strange in parts of their tale.

Some parts were missing of course- but somehow it ended with an older child reuniting with their people and the Xolos being seen as family for generations.]

All of them speak of the Xolos as such in one way or another.
