[ The feed turns on abruptly, with the image jostling - as Della had violently thrown the device on her bed and not realized it turned on. Everyone is treated to her yelling mid-rant, as she kicks furniture and stomps about, pulling at her hair. ]

- Missed it AGAIN, and this time, it's not even MY FAULT! How is that FAIR?! Haven't I done enough? Why can't I just... why? Is this someone's sick idea of a joke?! Am I just not... allowed to be with them? In any world? In any universe? Why? Why? I... I just...

[ Her voice breaks, and she sits on her bed, burying her face in her hands. After a moment, she shuffles, and pulls out a piece of paper from her jacket. From this angle, it's difficult to tell, but it could be a drawing of three little duck boys. She runs her fingers down the image, and then begins singing softly.

Fair to say a good number of people here know Della as an adventure-loving nutjob. But here and now, her voice is filled with genuine love. ]

Face each new sun with eyes clear and true,
Unafraid of the unknown...

[ Then, out of the corner of her eye - which may be tearing up - she spots the device. And can guess what happened. ]

... Aw, phooey.

[ With a swallow, she reaches over, and weakly smiles. ]

... So. Uh. Anyone know any good jokes?

So, what's an angel of the Saint Electric? I'm guessing not someone who goes 'boogie woogie woogie.'

[ If someone wanted to give him that much credit, it's possible he was hoping the distraction would at least help. But it's also possible he simply didn't think it through. ]

Yeah, I'm... guessing that's funny with context, too.

[ He however has no clue what she's referencing whatsoever. ]

But let's see--where do I start? The Saint Electric, she's one of the most well-known commercial gods, where I'm from. Her prayer-stamps are on basically everythin' that uses power.

[ Head-tilt. She is successfully distracted, because wha? ]

Commercial gods? What, like they sell cereal on TV?

[ And this gets a laugh because, well... obviously. It sounds silly when someone says it like it's silly, and to a degree the corporate gods sound silly even at home, but that's still everyday life. ]

Yeah. Well? One sells cereal. Sweet Jolly Crunchtooth's got that pretty locked down, actually. A while ago, before my time, all the other harvest gods were declared false-faiths.

[ ...All of this must sound strange, but he says it conversationally. Half-remembered history he learned in school. In practice it really just means he grew up with commercials for only one brand of cereal. Even if he has opinions on the way the government does things, in general. ]

... I mean, I was kinda kidding, but wow.

What does it mean to be a false-faith? They were booted out of the pantheon?

[ Man, she's invested now. Needs all the deets. ]

[ You know, maybe he shouldn't have gotten himself into a topic that makes him angry if he actually thinks about it too hard. Then again, there's something almost satisfying in the way she's not taking it very seriously.

He'll try to keep his answers light, for the moment. ]

Somethin' like that. Booted out by lawmakers, not the rest of the... 'pantheon.' It's hard to say how much they care about that sort of thing.

[ But now isn't the time to go on a tangent about how he suspects maybe they're all just terrible hungering beasts when it comes down to it. ]

An' it means they don't get to sell things on television. Among other things.

Huh. Gods versus lawyers. Never thought I'd see the day. Think that'd make for a great TV show, though.

One of my besties is the goddess of the moon so I might be a bit biased, though.

[ He already knows they sound... very different in other worlds, when other worlds even have them. But it's still wild to hear someone say that, all the same. ]

Oh, sure! Selene's a real sweetheart. She's helped out my family a bunch of times, and even offered to let me take over Zeus' position once.

[ said super casually. just her bestie. almost became ruler of a pantheon. as one does. ]

[ Said with no idea how funny it could sound that he's never heard the name. It truly means absolutely nothing to him. ]

[ Groaaaaaan. ]

He is, and he is the worst. So, he's Selene's dad, and ruler of the Greek Pantheon, but he's really just a big baby who gets upset when people prefer others over him. And considering he's used to throwing lightning bolts at people who beat him at games and releases ancient monsters to make himself look better? It's no wonder people prefer others.

Last I heard, the dummy got himself stuck in Tartarus, the underworld. Fully deserved.

Your gods sound... much more like people than ours.

[ Unless she's just anthropomorphizing interpretations of their actions in the way people tend to do, but that's not really what it sounds like. Then again, more than one person has made it sound like gods in other worlds are closer to people. ]

Well, I guess in the end, there's not much difference between us normal folks and the gods.

... Well, aside from enough strength to move a planet, incredible amounts of magic, ability to use lightning, force over the moon, creation of intense illusions, eternal youth and invincible immortality.

... Might be a few differences.

...Maybe a few. And a few between yours and ours, from the sound of things. Not sure the ones I'm used to could move a planet.

[ They'd probably be even worse, if they were that powerful. ]

If it helps, it was for a good cause? Aliens were trying to take over the planet and it was part of the clean-up effort.

[ Technically he has no proof they aren't out there somewhere, but he'd still be incredibly surprised if they were. ]

[ That was true even before coming to this place. Now he's given up on thinking he understands anything about the universe. ]
