[The feed begins with Eggman sitting at what appears to be a console facing the camera. He's routed his shellphone camera into one of his Buzzbomber Radniks, giving a much more dynamic view of his quickly expanding warehouse and base of operations. The good doctor has wasted no time and appears to be well in production of not just Radniks, but other experiments and tools using the strange magic and technology found on this world. Anyone who knows him well may be alarmed. But if you don't, he just looks industrious.]

[Once the feed starts, he stands and begins to dramatically move about the room, arms clasped behind his back.]

Good day my fellow Riftfarers!

I have been here for several months now and it has come to my attention that several denizens of my world have made it their mission to inform the public of my er...proclivities. As such, I have thought long and hard about what this means and how to move forward.

[As he speaks, he gesticulates with one arm in sweeping, grand gestures.]

As such, I have decided that it is important, in the spirit of transparency that I make my past known. Yes, it is true that I, the Great Dr. Ivo Robotnik, have sought to conquer my world more than a few number of times. However, I have agreed to be on my...best behavior while I remain a tenant of this washed out world and such, I would like to extend the proverbial olive branch. You see, some Hedgehogs who shall remain nameless unless their name is Sonic, seem to believe I have the propensity for good.

Now, in the spirit of this newfound...charitability I wish to point out that any Radniks I have sold to you or anyone else are not dangerous. This has been verified by trusted sources but if you would like to investigate for yourselves? Well, I have nothing to hide.

Which brings me nicely to the reason for this broadcast!

[Eggman snaps, and a graphic appears on the screen.]

If transparency is the name of the game, I thought it would be a fun little exercise in trust! All questions are valid though I will get some of the easier ones out of the way first.

[Ahem.]

My name is Dr. Ivo Robotnik, but I have allowed others to call me Eggman. It was an insulting moniker I have chosen to adopt, thus robbing it of its power over me. As for my general interests? Robotics, mad science, engineering, aeronautics, and theme parks.

The floor is yours and I eagerly await your questions.

[Eggman...doesn't like this. He doesn't like how Turo is being so...so forgiving while also complimenting him. Something was wrong here. Why was Turo complimenting him?]

[Yes, obviously Turo is right. Eggman is an unparalleled genius, practically a force of nature in his world. But this isn't the acknowledgement he wants.]

[Fine, then.]

Because it didn't suit my purposes. Because tricking people became boring. Everyone in this world is so blindly accepting, I could have built any number of death machines in the scope of time that I've been here!

There's no sport in obliterating a gaggle of idiots!

There is hardly any sport in obliterating those who have not drawn your ire, either, if I were to guess.

[-Robotnik was a showman, wasn't he? All of this to draw attention and some sort of reaction he wanted; something so very particular.]

Have you gotten what you needed from your act, pretending you were something that does not quite suit you in even your own wants?

Oh, it was fun for a time. Watching people grow to trust me. But it got dull.

I would rather be true to my nature than pretend to be what the rodents of my world desire me to be.

That said, I have no grand designs for this world as of now. You all are pleasantly safe.

The number of people that would rise would be more challenge than threat if a moment as such ever did arrive, I imagine. Perhaps see who might fall under you.

[There was something careful- as if thinking while talking, as he picked up a piece of shined metal wire he could bend.]

More freedom to being yourself than acting as something else?

Precisely! You get it, Turo!

[Wait. Damn.]

That is to say, it was almost embarrassing how readily everyone accepted me. I needed more stimulation. As a man of science, I'm sure you can see the appeal.

I can understand the need more more stimuli, more so when something feels repetitive or far too easy. A challenge for the mind, a test of skills- it can be thrilling to come upon a problem of any sort that you cannot instantly see the answer to.

[Really, there were reasons he did really enjoy their conversations-]

A reason even I have delved into certain fields I never gave time to before, and explore whenever given the chance to do so here.

Turo, are you telling me you've been prone to bouts of mad science as well~?

I am not completely sure if I would call it mad science- but perhaps others would.

[... The Time machine had certainly been built due to something madness induced- had the... accidental 'rail gun' here counted? Hm.]

Ohohohoho! Interesting!

Well, now you've got me curious! What's the most ill-advised experiment you've ever run~?

In my world that would likely be the Time Machine, retrieving creatures known as pokémon from some point in the future. Far stronger, and more violent.

You have likely seen the few that accompany. [There was a whole lot to that one-]

Here? Well, it was while the magitech boom was occurring and interest had gone more towards... weaponry.

Weaponry?

Time machine?!

Why Turo! You've been holding out on your good friend!

We'll have to compare notes!

The Time Machine is partly why I have the skillset in working with crystals, refining and bringing out their full potential of power.

Though not many in my world know it exists.

[He doubted many would know outside of the young trainers and the League as well...

There was a crystal 'snapped' into place on the shining and shaped bit of metal in hand, the green glow brightening.]

I suppose it and the few weapon types I have dabbled in simply never came up before.

Crystals are your focus then?

Tell me, have you ever studied how gems could potentially channel power and magic in this world? You know, things like rubies and sapphires...

...Emeralds.

They are my specialty, enough so that my design for the Tera Orb has a patent that provides quite a bit of funding for my other projects.

[More than enough to keep Arven's schooling at Uva paid for fully as well.]

I have indeed, and use them as power sources for much of what I build that requires an energy source. Elemental crystals and gems- [Holding up one of the fine cut green gems, what appeared to be some odd energy swirling within very visible. An example.]

They can be quite unstable to work with, and it is advised only those well trained attempt to cut and refine them for purposes needed to draw out their power.

You know, I would be very interested in your notes on energy instabilities.

I've done a fair bit of research on my own but another pair of eyes, from another world no less, could potentially give me some fresh perspective.

It is quite fascinating, more so when you take the different elements into account- I will say the gems are on the somewhat more stable side the the elemental crystals, but one wrong cut will still cause that instability to literally blow up- one way or another.

I do have extensive notes on it as well, from both personal research and speaking with jewelers who have made careers of it for those enchanted pieces the create.

Have you ever worked with gemstones that showed instability in their energy output despite their crystalline framework being almost unnaturally perfect?

What sort of precautions have you taken? Power dampeners? Shielding? Some sort of containment field?

I have indeed, and even those that have the potential to be any element if exposed to something that could tip it- Terastal Crystals were truly fascinating things to study back home.

Here? I have run across those gems that were rather unstable, and likely due to the amount of energy being too much for what was containing it. Barely a flaw despite that, yes.

Something to try and monitor the energy as I work, as well as a sort of- grounding, for lack of a better wording. Back home I had all of that, and here I have had to improvise far more in ways that remind me of field work when there was no time to get back to the lab.

You know, you raise an interesting point. Could this world's magic in all of its potency be used as a sort of...lens. Something to focus unstable, chaotic energies through.

Have you tried refining these gems into various lenses and prisms? Worked them into glass? I imagine their unique molecular structure could yield some interesting results.

[The shellphone was set back on the desk as Turo pushed back slightly, a hand moving out of sight-

He pulled back out a couple rounded sort of lenses, a slight rainbow-ish shimmer in a certain light as he tipped both between fingers.]

I actually have, and part of it is used for the smaller personal shielding devices I have made capable of being worn like a piece of jewelry. Taking a small bit of energy and causing it to magnify at such a rate what it produces is much stronger than what is applied.

Aha, but have you take those same gems, ground them into a fine powder and used them as as solder for circuitry and electrical components?

I've created a rather sturdy meshwork that I've incorporated into my gloves, and with a few simple gestures...

[He makes some keystrokes in the air with his right hand, then snaps, causing a gout of flame to spark in his palm.]

An elemental tool for more...hands-on research.

I have not, but it is a rather brilliant idea- I wonder how it would work incorporated with rune work circuitry. That is how I have managed to create more compact things that can fit into one's pocket without taking anything away when it comes to how it works.

[Like the little robotic creatures he'd been making. Kept them rather light weight as well.]

Amazing work, truly. No doubt it comes in handy.

An element for all occasions, perfect for any unforeseeable situation~

[Fingers flicking in precise, hard to track gestures, and he switches between elements: Fire, electricity, ice, even conjuring motes of earth.]

And combined, I get some rather fun results.

[Fire and earth yield molten rock, which he quickly cools with ice, encasing it in a crystalline shell.]

I've considered what other weapons I could make, naturally. But I feel that building up a cache would be frowned upon by my murder-happy adversaries.

Certainly taking advantage of what the world offers, and one cannot say that it was not encouraged for us to use enchanted items if we wished to harness more than two elements. This is simply doing so in a most familiar way.

[Saw nothing wrong with that, given the world this was and being able to do such a thing on the fly not only showed skill but also could be that little difference between life and death in some circumstances.

One of those lenses was snapped into place of a locket he had been putting together, and with a press there was a sparkling bubble-like shield created- one that enveloped Turo's entire desk area, including himself.]

This was more for emergencies, and the magnification causes the shield to be that much stronger to buy more time for one to think or simply run.

[A rap of knuckles to it from the inside before he was disengaging it-]

Undoubtedly frowned upon, yes. The weapons I dabbled in were meant to be mounted to ships.

[Eggman watches Turo assemble the locket with no small amount of curiosity. Lockets often were intended to be keepsakes, after all. Was this important to him?]

[He's about to ask when Turo says something that piques his interest more.]
