Oh, hello! It's alright, although I never really expected someone to contact me like this. [ Not that she's opposed to it at all, just surprised. It's a pleasant surprise though! She's got a gentle sort of smile on her face with eyes that widen with excitement. ]

Really? I'm definitely ready, would you like to meet somewhere? [ She puts her hand to her chest as something occurs to you. ] I don't think I can immediately compensate you, I hope that's okay?

I don't recall requesting any compensation. Nor do I intend to.

[He struggles to imagine what manner of place would secrete such basic knowledge behind a barrier of compensation.]

Although I am sorry to say that creation magicks remain... contained, for lack of a better phrasing. I am told this might be because of the more dangerous temperaments of some of those who are brought here.

But I do have access to some magicks. Enough to demonstrate a fair number of spells... although I think those demonstrations will need to be outside. The place I have in mind for lessons has beautiful windows and many books and it wouldn't be kind of us to bring harm to any of them, even if by accident.

[And accidents can happen when one is learning magicks.]

I'm sorry that some of your magic is still dampened. But I'm certain what you have access to will be amazing to see! Outside for demonstration does seem like a much better idea. I'd feel very guilty if we damaged anything. I bet we could find somewhere with open space and not too many people

But I would give you a good understanding of the basics before we begin practical applications. 'Twould be remiss of me to have you begin practicing without the foundational knowledge required to ensure your own safety.

Have you been to a place called Surasthana Cafe yet? 'Tis a beautiful, cozy little place filled with books. The colored glass of the windows reminds me a little of home.

I haven't, but I can find it I'm sure and it sounds like a great place.

I don't think it'll take me that long! I'm pretty fast. But it does make me miss the corridors

The corridors? Were they your primary method of transportation, where you are from?

It was, they're called the corridors of darkness.

Ah. That makes sense. 'Tis an element suited to travelling distances in a short few moments. I use it as well.

Really? I wonder if they're like the ones in my world. Do you have the risk of being hurt in yours?

Becoming lost is a danger of any form of teleportation. As for employing the darkness to accomplish it... as with any element, there are risks of aetherial imbalance. Too much of any element risks adverse effects upon the body.

So it's not inherently worse in your world?

Not to my people. But our aether is very dense. 'Twould take far more to throw us into any sort of dangerous imbalance than it would for others here.

There are, of course, characteristics of darkness one should take into account... but I think it may be best to get into that after we go over the fundamentals. 'Tis better to start from the beginning so that you can make decisions from a more complete understanding of the risks and what you can do to mitigate them.

I think I was just personally curious due to certain things in my own world. I'm not sure if I'd ever want to work too closely with darkness.

But maybe you're right, maybe once I get more of an understanding I'll be more open to it.

Pray do not feel pressure to take up using it. It is useful, but very powerful, and for that very reason 'tis unwise to use it recklessly.

The same can be said of light.

Really? Sometimes I've wondered how much of a difference there really is between light and dark. If one's really bad or not.

Neither light nor dark are inherently bad, or inherently good. They have different properties, but both are fundamental forces, and both necessary for life to flourish in abundance.
