Video - un: detectiveforhierophant

Who: Ryotaro Dojima
Status: Open
Where: Cosmo Conservatory
What: Dojima is hoping he's just being paranoid, but as it's been several days now-- he decides to ask if anyone has seen Turo since he left.
Warnings: Nothing here, but the plot it relates to has some heavy stuff!

[The video opens on what some may recognize as the interior of the main building of the Cosmo Conservatory. A blurry tanned splotch on the side of the screen, a disgruntled, slightly rough voice as—]

Damn it— [Re-adjusting the shellphone—] there.

[A huff, and now one could clearly see Ryotaro Dojima, sitting at the desk that usually had Professor Turo seated behind it.]

Hey, this is Ryotaro Dojima, Head Ranger of Cosmo Conservatory, [A beat, something mumbled under his breath, was that ‘fuck it’?] Has anyone heard or seen from Professor Turo in the last three days?

[Ugh. The fact he had to bring this up at all— was it just his nerves? Also he prayed the heat on his cheeks was just the summer heat being too much--]

He was headed to Liansa— left his Pokemon here with me— to help with base construction, talking with the merfolk there…

[A hand wave, somewhat dismissive—]

Investigating, research, you know how he can be, right? It’s nothing unusual for us to work in separate locations for a few days, but…

[Frowning deeply, glancing to the side.]

Usually we at least send messages to one another before the end of the day, just to check in. I figured maybe the travel or heat wore him down, or he got deep into research and forgot—

[Which. Turo wasn’t likely to do at all, thanks to his AI mind—]

…But three days with nothing? That’s not normal. And he’s not… gone, his Shellphone ID is still active. He’s just… not picking up.

[There was no hiding the the concern on Dojima’s face, even if he had a measured tone to his voice, expression stern, focused— but that crease in his brow…]

—So if you hear from him or see him, tell him to give me a buzz, alright? Or if anything else is up, let me know ASAP.

[Annnd now that he's put himself out there more and feels more exposed then ever, that awkward clearing of his throat, glancing away...]

Ah... yeah. Thanks for your time.

[Slight bow of his head, and then he was reaching to switch off the camera--]

I can see souls both near and distant. The professor is not like other men but he still carries a distinct signature which sets him apart from the rest. Yet there is something surrounding him which is attempting to obfuscate his precise location. An incredibly dense fog of malignant aether.

I don't believe the perpetrators from the kidnappings have this sort of ability and I don't know if the professor made any additional enemies.

Him? Very well. If you're sure, I'll make the Phantom Moon ready. I cannot give more than a direct heading but I can promise that, barring further interference, I shan't lose sight of him.

I imagine we'll want our bodyguard as well in case a fight. I can reach out to them. You're no doubt more familiar with the workers who look after the Conservatory.

Well, if I'm to be completely honest, 'twould either be myself or our old captain, as you say. I've not had the privilege of seeing many riftfarers - or natives, for that matter - display such great power. The few who I HAVE seen do not wield aether or magic this malignant. In fact, if I didn't know better, I would have said that one of my brethren must be here.

Are you sure this Ganondorf fellow isn't wholly responsible for the shroud I'm seeing? I've only met him in passing.

lmao sorry Dojima

If you would rather believe I'm a good man then it would be best you don't enquire further.

More importantly, we have an entire voyage to consider our approach. No matter who is responsible for that malignant fog, the fact remains that it is there. However, I'm sure I can mitigate its effects once we reach the spot.

[ He IS a powerful sorcerer after all. It's a point of pride for him. And if not, well... ]

Now, time is of the essence. I'll summon Shadow. You gather what you need and come to the ship as well.

[ Although as it turns out, he won't need to summon Shadow because Shadow will arrive on his own by the time Dojima arrives. ]

[ He has a distinct feeling an interrogation is on the cards sometime. He sighs to himself but, well, it's not as though he would ever deny what he did. If Dojima wants to hear the story later - or even during the voyage - then so be it.

He doesn't bother responding again, instead sending urgent messages to the crew and various other people to ready the Phantom Moon for its emergency departure. They need food, weapons, and Emet-Selch personally checks that the shields and such are in working order.

He can be found on deck, directing people with terse orders, when Dojima arrives. ]

[Ugh. Things like this is why Shadow prefers to work alone. Things to prepare, others to consider. The only reason he hasn't run off is because of Emet's ability to sense others. Even one of artificial construct like Turo....he's aware he is one himself, but Turo was a machine. Makes him start to wonder...

Regardless, it's a lead, better than just sailing around aimlessly.

He's got one hand holding the shellphone, occasionally glancing for any worthwhile information while he helps around the ship. Carrying a crate of supply with one hand is a non-issue for him. He may not be paying attention to where he's setting things down though. Even if he's aware someone is nearby, he may miscalculate the spacing and just narrowly misses smashing a misplaced foot and such. He just wants to get going already, all right?]
