[The video is of a rocky shoreline, under a grey autumn sky. A small handful of the demon horses can be seen grazing on washed up seaweed.]

[Davrin slowly lowers the camera back down, turning it to face himself. Both he and Assan the griffon, are perched on a couple rocks higher up. Out of immediate view of the horses.]

I know we're supposed to be gathering clippings from these things but... call me crazy.

[Assan lifts his head from where he'd had it balanced on his foreclaws, looking skeptical.]

- Not you. [Then back to the camera.] Anybody tried maybe... taming one of them?

[They're no halla, but maybe it'd be a good idea to have a horse around for land-based travel.]

[That's unusual, from his perspective.] I think they might - won't know until we try.

I haven't gotten to go out much. Not until I got here.

[ She pauses for a moment. ] That's true. Do you think you'd be able to tell if they didn't want it? I wouldn't want to see anything kept against it's will.

Well - I wouldn't say these things are great examples of horses. Demon horses, sure.

[He hums, considering the question.] Animals are better at telling people things than we realize. If I can tame one of them, and it really doesn't want to be kept - I don't think anyone could make it stick around.

Even regular horses tell us that pretty well enough.

I think they're kind of pretty looking! [ And now she's got it in her head that she wants to get a better look at them. rip. ]

That's good to hear. I hope you'd let it go if it made it clear it didn't want to stay. Do you think trying to tame it will be dangerous for you?

They're definitely unique.

[He thinks they look dangerous, personally, but doesn't have the heart to break that to the kid.]

If taming them is out of the question... yeah. I'll get the hair and go. But there's only one way to find out. [For him, at least.] I expect it'll be about as dangerous as a wild horse, at the least. A monster at the worst. So yeah, probably.

I like unique things.

Hopefully you won't get too hurt. If you do end up taming one, do you think I could see it sometime? If that wouldn't be too much trouble.

[He chuckles, and is about to say something else - except at the mention of "unique things", one of said unique things shoves his head into frame. SNIFF SNIFF.]

Assan! Shove over - [When the camera readjusts, the griffon has his head on Davrin's shoulder now.] - he says hello.

But I'll be fine. I used to hunt monsters for a living. A horse is a nice change of pace... and... yeah, yeah, you can.

[ She's trying to not make a big deal out of the griffon, it just seemed rude to start a conversation asking to meet that cutie too. Even if maybe her first thoughts went there.

Maybe. ]

Say hello back for me! He's really adorable! [ The urge to ask to meet him too is so high. ]

Oh! I have a friend who mentioned he had a friend that hunts monsters. That sounds like a very exciting career.

[Head still on Davrin's shoulder, Assan chirps. He flutters his wings. Yep, he knows he's being complimented.]

His name is Assan. Came with me from Thedas.

[Oh? Someone else hunts monsters?]

It's definitely got its moments. Good and bad.

Hello, Assan. It's nice that this place brought your friend here with you!

[ Is she talking to Davrin or Assan about that? Who knows. ]

I bet! You must have a lot of really interesting stories though.

[Assan squawks, which just makes Davrin roll his eyes.]

Yes, she's talking to you, featherface. And yeah, you're lucky I'm here. Nobody else understands you.

[Debatable. But Assan doesn't need to know that.]

"Interesting" - sure. Haven't found a lot of people who want to hear me go on about them though.

Can you really understand Assan?

[ she's very impressed! ]

Really? I can't believe that. I would love to hear them!

Yeah, I can. [He can't help the chuckle, or the grin.] Took a while, and I can't tell you how I do it, but, by now, we understand each other.

[To be perfectly fair to Assan, he's sure the griffon always understood speech. Listening is another story. He is part cat, after all.]

You sure? Might be some intense parts.

Maybe your hearts just became connected.

[ Makes sense to her. ]

I'm sure! I've seen plenty of intense things, don't worry.

How so?

[That's... one way to put it, sure, but kind of odd.]

All right, all right. I'll take you up on that sometime.

Mm, I don't know if it's just something unique to my worlds but there hearts can become connected to one other in a real sort of way. A way that can give people strength. They can even form a bond that goes deep enough that you can even find each other no matter what.

[ Or even more complicated things than that. It's really hard to explain though, particularly since nobody really seems to get the details of it all even back in the worlds she's heard of. Or been to. But it's more than just an esoteric feeling. It's real. ]

That... sounds familiar. The way you talk about hearts. I know a kid who talks about them the same. Maybe you two are from the same world?

[Roxas didn't... actually mention his friends' names. Just that they were here.]

Probably, there's a few people here from our world! Was it Roxas or Sora maybe?

[He grins, and it's broad, amused.] Nice to meet one of his friends I hear about all the time.

Namine, but I doubt he's said much about me.

[ Which is perfectly okay with her. ]

He has said a bit about you though! I think he really admires you.

He's a little sketchy on names. Not just yours. Glad to meet you, though.

[It's definitely good to meet one of the kid's friends. She seems like a good one.]

Has he? I'm notorious, huh?

[Don't pretend you're not flattered, Davrin.]

I'm not surprised, he can be a bit private. Plus we've had some...bad experiences.

[ With people turning out to not be the greatest to trust. ]

Mmmhmm! He says you have a lot of great stories and things to teach people!

[That grin of his fades into more of a concerned expression.]

Both of you? Sorry to hear that... It happen where you're from? Or here?

[Roxas had mentioned someone to keep an eye out for. Maybe that was the cause of the bad experiences.]

What stories is he talking about? I only told him the nasty one.

Where we're from. [ well, it's complicated. But she wouldn't expose anyone that's here or has been here like that. ]

Oh! I'm not entirely sure. He's just mentioned your monster hunting, and I said you must have good stories and he agreed. I think I just get excited hearing about people who may have had a lot of adventures. I've never gotten to have many of my own.

What's the nasty one?

Mmm. Got it.

[That's a "don't ask" if he's ever heard one. If these kids want to open up later, he'll listen. On their own time.]

Hah. I must've told him more than I thought. But hey, you're here now - plenty of time to have your own adventures, right?

Ah - it's about a monster the size of a hill. And a lot of lamp oil.
