[The video is of a rocky shoreline, under a grey autumn sky. A small handful of the demon horses can be seen grazing on washed up seaweed.]

[Davrin slowly lowers the camera back down, turning it to face himself. Both he and Assan the griffon, are perched on a couple rocks higher up. Out of immediate view of the horses.]

I know we're supposed to be gathering clippings from these things but... call me crazy.

[Assan lifts his head from where he'd had it balanced on his foreclaws, looking skeptical.]

- Not you. [Then back to the camera.] Anybody tried maybe... taming one of them?

[They're no halla, but maybe it'd be a good idea to have a horse around for land-based travel.]

So...how would you even go about trying?

[weisshappened]

You usually start just... getting them used to you being there. Don't approach them or anything. Sit there, make sure they see you, and... just be there.

Next step? Getting them to want to come up to you. These guys? [He nods toward the little herd.] They know I'm here. But I might as well be scenery.

I was thinking I'd use food, lure them in.

[Roxas nods, taking it all in. If he had a notebook, he'd probably be writing in it.]

Food's usually the way you would do it, right? Lots of animals like food.

[He sounds really proud of Roxas for putting that together.]

Just need to figure out what these things like. More than just seaweed.

[Roxas shrugs at the praise, trying to play it cool, but there's a smile there as well.]

Like a rarer sort of plant? Maybe something they can't always get?

I still got books out from the library that I can check.

Go for it. Regular horses like carrots and apples as a snack... not sure about these guys.

Maybe something closer to seaweed? Is there a special kind of it?

[He's quiet for a moment and there's the sound of flipping pages.]

Fancy seaweed, huh?

[He sounds amused, but not enough to just rule it out.] Finding anything?

Uh...I think so? Not quite sure if it's the right horse, but I think it's also suggesting crunchy things. Like shells?

Shells. As in... Seashells? Or eggshells?

[seasaltkeys]

Seashells. Like...clam shells, stuff like that.

[He sounds a little disappointed. He collects those sometimes.]

Huh.

Deer sometimes go after bird eggs, or small animal- [He ALMOST says "animals" and leaves it there, but he can't do that to Roxas.] bones... Guess it makes sense these things go after what they can find on the shoreline.

[He's tough, he can handle it.]

Yeah, and there's usually a lot of them. Guess everything's gotta eat something.

[Nope we're not discussing deer's omnivorous habits.]

Just as long as they're not hunters themselves... we should probably be all right.

Doesn't look like they are...according to this book. I don't think.

They might fight back though, if threatened.

Worse comes to worse, Assan can bail me out. Right, boy?

[He should probably know who this is.]

[From behind Davrin, the griffon shoves his face forward, resting it on his guardian's shoulder.]

This featherhead. Say hi to Roxas, Assan.

[And Assan squawks.]

[There's a small noise of surprise from Roxas at the appearance of Assan. He can't say that's who he was expecting.]

Um...hi?

That's a...griffon, right?

[weisshappened]

Yeah, he is.

[With Assan's head on his shoulder, Davrin reaches up with one hand to scratch his fluffy ears.]

I've been looking after him since he hatched.

[His reading has payed off!]

Is that part of being a monster hunter to?

Hah! No, not at all.

Assan... him and his siblings were kind of a surprise, all around. Griffons are supposed to be extinct. But somebody hid a nest of eggs in magic stasis, until the Wardens found them.

And that's how you got to be taking care of them?

Like how many?
