[Fair enough. It's not like she's told him everything about the Dominants either, but in her defense, she did get distracted from that.]

I was assuming there would be some scholars to study them, perhaps write a handful of tomes that others would read and learn from. Not... [do something so risky and crazy] ..that.

[Shaking her head, she feels like she need to move on.]

Are there many Hunters?

[Interesting in that he doesn't want to talk about how many Hunters there are. Not like Jill could do anything with that knowledge, but so be it.

Pushing her chair away from the table, she leans back to rummage in her hipsack and pulls out a couple of doubloons, leaving them on the table to pay for the ale.]

Well, then I assume our conversation is complete.

[She never did finish that list of questions.]

[Jill pulls a face of disbelief. She has full intention of walking out in a few moments and if he wants to stop her, he's more than welcome to try. Not that it would end well if she has any say.]

You presume it hasn't broke that balance. I am telling you that you are wrong and I feel I've given you more than enough information for today.

[Jill stands and moves from her chair in preparation of leaving, curving a path around him.]

Now if you'll excuse me...
tilfrosset: ([69])

[personal profile] tilfrosset 2026-01-11 04:51 am (UTC)(link)
[Oh, so that is what he wants to know? Good to know because Jill will never say another word. Not of Eikons, not of Dominants, not of anything.

No, wait, that's a lie. She does say something more.]

Unhand me.

[And if he feels a chill running up his own arm, no he doesn't. Just ignore the crackling of ice crystals forming.]

[Because telling someone how to kill something inside you is such a great idea!

It indeed begins as a warning, but it doesn't take much longer of him holding his grip for it to turn into a full on assault. The ice speeds up its formation, thickening as Jill casts it farther along his forearm.]

I have no qualms about ending your life.

[Not quite the truth, especially these days, but if push comes to shove and her safety is on the line, there will be one less Hunter on Eltrut in a few moments.]

[personal profile] tilfrosset 2026-01-11 05:43 am (UTC)(link)
[Maybe. Just a little. Who knows how many people have already tried to kill her?

And assumptions have never served anyone well, because while making contact serves to make an attack easier, it is not the only way Jill can defend herself. As soon as Ulpianus pulls his arm away, she reaches for the rapier on her left hip, yanking it from scabbard before whipping it up towards his throat.

Meanwhile, the bartender has taken note that the strangely dressed man and the silver-haired lady are coming to blows and waves his arms in the air, screaming HEY! HEY, TAKE IT OUTSIDE!]

You wouldn't be the first to make the attempt and fail.

[She's never been much of a verbal blowhard, especially in battle. Slinging spells and blades serve to be so much more apt. But having to balance that plus magick means the anchor chain manages to catch her offguard and circle around her waist. Ugh. Why won't he just let her be?]

[The poor bartender. Ignored by a whale of a man and a woman who are determined to bust each other up while busting up his establishment.

Expecting to be yanked forward, she's drawn sideways instead which has Jill stumbling a few inches. When that is the only he can't help but wonder for a second if he means to be gentle with her, to scare her rather than truly hurt her. In any case, wasting time trying to decide which is which never served her well on the battlefield and it won't do any of that now.

The blue glow from earlier returns, visible aether spreading across her body from top to toe as she throws out a hand towards his face, shooting slivers of pointed icicles intended for his eyes.]

You failed to get the answers you seek. And continue to do so.

[A little destruction of your opponent's ego never hurt anybody.]

[Never one for outward use of foul language, Jill can't help but swear in her mind at how easily he swerves the icicles. Blinding him wouldn't only knock him out of the fight, but a man who can't see can't keep her in one place.

Jill is limiting herself, solely because not only are they indoors, but there's other innocent patrons in the inns. Some have already made their escape through the doors; others have stayed for the entertainment. In one corner, a couple of pirates are even calling bets on whether Ulpianus will defeat a woman or if Jill will prove why one should keep their hands to themselves.

The little table trick works. Her eyes are busy following the downward path of the table as gravity pulls on it, too busy to see his leg before it's too late. Pain blooms as his foot makes contact with her shin and that is what distracts Jill enough to be whisked off her heels and onto the floor where the back of her head thumps against the sticky ale-soaked wood.

Thankfully, there's no blood, but it's enough to knock the wind out of her (somewhere, Garuda is probably laughing and doesn't know why). Her consciousness remains though, even if Jill needs to take a moment to get back to her senses.]

[ Call it a whatever you wish— a feeling, happenstance, or the gods themselves— that Clive happened to be near when the mutterings of passerby's swept by in a panic. Yet above all else there was something deeper calling him into that tavern, a connection he had not felt in some suns, the awakening of an eikon.

It was Ifrit's spirit that pulsed in his veins and caused heartrate to elevate. Something was happening, and it was likely that another dominant was involved.

So his steps quickened along with the pounding of his chest as he makes his way to the tavern's entrance, dodging screaming patrons and cheers until the quarrel came into view.

No. No no no no
]

... Jill!? Jill!

[ A brutal, guttural roar spurs from the depths of his abdomen, as if a wild animal had escaped from captivity.

Clive charges in, sword well unsheathed as all objects in his path are swept to his sidelines, rendering themselves weightless in his path.
]

Away from her— now!

A HERO

[personal profile] tilfrosset 2026-01-11 05:08 pm (UTC)(link)
[He's going to have to do what he predicts. Make it into a promise, even. Jill isn't about to give this man what he wants, not when information like that could be used not only against her, but against people she loves. And whatever her personal opinion about Benedikta, Jill is not going to be the one who blabs about how to kill what's practically unkillable to put her at risk as well.

Her own blood runs cold, veins icing over as Shiva screams to be released, drowning out someone calling Jill's name. Her Dominant is at risk and it's been far too long that she's been allowed out of her human-shaped cage. In most cases, Jill would ignore the calling, push back the instinct to destroy, maim, and kill, but with fingers pressing as her throat, she cannot do so any longer. If the bystanders had any wits about them, they would run as soon as possible because the aetherial glow grows brighter, blindingly so, as she calls forth Shiva as a whole.

She has not fully primed in this world yet, but there is always a first time for everything.]

Release me!

[Her voice takes on the sound of two people speaking at once, separate tones layered over one another, and it's the only warning Ulpianus will get before her body is suddenly shifting down in size. The flesh under his hand thins out, its normal width narrowing. Her torso shortens and aether surrounds the both of them in a burst of brilliance as a crowned woman comes forth and Jill herself disappears.

Though something is off, wrong even. Shiva, being the smallest of the Eikons already, is much smaller now, no more than a few feet in height. But her power, the iced over boulders she produces around her and Ulpianus, destroying the furniture and roof of the tavern, is no less almighty than usual.]

[ There would be time for questions later (of which Clive had many) but there were a few things for certain that was happening in the moment- that Jill had been threatened enough to fully release her Eikon.

It was a jarring sight at fist seeing Shiva reduced to the size that she was, despite being one of the smallest in comparison to the rest. Yet even through this apparent handicap, the bitter cold of this Dominant's wrath was ill-contained in this wooden building. Even seconds after stepping in did the difference in temperature drastically shift, causing Clive's quicken breath to be shown in front of him.

Fuck. This was worse than he could have imagined.

But there was little time to think. He surveyed the area as quickly as he could, trying to find some semblance of a clue as to what transpired, but when nothing immediately stuck out to him Clive's only option was to do as he had always had. He was to protect Jill, and ensure her safety.

But was she in full control of Shiva? The thought struck a brief look of fear on his face as his eyes darted in her direction.
]

Jill! The patrons!

[ There will still some present in the tavern, and an Eikon fight of any size could be a disastrous one. It wasn't safe here— not for her, or anyone else. And there seemed to be only one particular person to blame. ]

You!!

[ His body to moved on its own, finding that Ulpianus' tumble into the ice was a perfect opportunity to hold him in place.

Clive's arms lashed forward, catching the man's forearm with his free hand while the sword bearing one was used to ram the hilt of it into his stomach, pinning him in place against the icy surface.

His vision shown red, pairing with the not-so-subtle flames that flicker into a spark around his palms and crawled up his arms, slowly eating away at the bitter cold of the room.
]

What the hell is going on!?
