Warnings: Only maybe spoilers for Nimona movie
[ Please do not adjust your screens, there is, in fact, a pink gorilla appearing on the network. One who opens their mouth and a somewhat feminine voice comes out of. ]
You know, there are a lot of awesome things about this place. You can have a crew, no one's trying to kill you just because of being different, all the new foods, getting to explore the world, having ample opportunity to use fish and sea puns... breaking things sometimes. [ The gorilla is counting on their fingers. ]
Really, I could go on and on about why I love this world. [ It sounds like there's a- ]
But! You know what really gets me? We can't adopt dragons! Sure, they say "dragons can't be tamed", or "they're just too wild". [ Cue the quotation marks and the eye roll. ] But all I want in this life is a tiny pink mini-me dragon. Who better to try and be a dragon parent than someone who's also a dragon? At least a dragon on occasion.
Come on, you can't keep placing dragons in front of me and expect me to not want to adopt one of my very own! I am literally made to be a dragon parent, watch this!
[ The gorilla is setting up the phone to stand on its own, then steps back several feet before... with a little sparkle of pink magic - turns into a semi-large, equally pink dragon. It's holding out front arms like "ta-dah"! ]

Dragon parent Nimona!

expecting your dragon child to be similar to you seems illogical
[ Why is that his objection ]
permavideo;
Or I just forget that not everyone was around for the tiny pink dragon quest, where those little cuties were running around biting people for fun. Or I have a specific one in mind that I'd want to adopt and just didn't want to say that out loud, and that one was just like me.

If they all bite people for fun
and one of them was like you
You also bite people for fun?
[ He is genuinely curious about this. Somewhat. ]
no subject
Sure, sometimes! As someone who can turn into animals, my teeth are also a form of weapons. So I don't always bite people for fun, but sometimes, yes.
no subject
Are you a dragon
Not can you turn into one
Is it the form you are most comfortable with
no subject
So right now, I'm a dragon. Later, I might be feeling human. Or a cat.
no subject
Shapeshifter then
Why is adopting smaller dragons specifically so important to you if you are not one yourself
If you had a desire to parent would an animal not serve the same purpose
no subject
[ A dragon shrug. ]
It's not the same to me. People see cats, dogs, and other animals as good and nice. Dragons are "dangerous and evil" - especially where I'm from. They're hunted and killed.
[ Says the person who is currently a dragon. ] So it's not the same at all.
no subject
When you put it that way I see your point
Dragons are usually a goal/an obstacle/a threat
Not a person
[ Well...sometimes they can be a threat and still be a person. Those two sisters of Jarlaxle's acquaintance in particular were certainly overfond of Jarlaxle, but at no time would they ever let you forget you were dragons. ]
It must be irritating to be told what a dragon can or cannot do
Since you have spent so long as a dragon yourself.
Do you meet with other dragons? In your own world.
[ He doesn't consider that there is a possibility Nimona might well be alone in that, or close to alone. Toril is full of dragons, after all. ]
no subject
Exactly.
[ There's a small beat where Nimona doesn't say anything. ]
I'm the only one.
[ Every dragon is her, which means that the whole world doesn't see "dragons as dangerous and evil" - they see Nimona that way. ]

But it's not as if he can deny that understanding - to be isolated, to be looked at like an aberration.
Of course, he wears it proudly. (But he had often thought, at some times more than others, that his soul had been placed in the wrong body.)
He isn't one for offering what he sees as useless platitudes. So, instead... ]
Do you want to prove them wrong?
[ He had accepted that shunning, that alienation, turned it into a strange strength at a cost he is only beginning to comprehend. He is most curious to know what she wants, with the world against her. ]
no subject
Eh. It'd be enough if one person saw who I was.
[ If children didn't pick up swords and point them at her. ]
