there was a bird who built a palace, as a monument to the heavens themselves.

he spun the foundation out of his own dreams, and the marble from his heart, and shaped the glass windows with the fire of his own passion. But when that wasn't enough, he took apart all the pieces of his nest, and used those too.

When the palace was finished, it shone bright as the sun, but that little bird had nothing left to call his own. Even so, when he heard how people smiled and laughed, and how joy nested in the hearts of those who saw it, he was still glad.

A nest can be rebuilt, and the palace would last the lifetimes of a hundred thousand little birds, making just as many smiles.
