Wanted to leave a quick note and thank you to everyone who helped test my little inventions last month. They should be finalized and ready for official public release next month, but as promised those who helped will receive theirs earlier once ready. Just let me know where to send them off or I can contact you for pick up later.

On that note, I wanted to inquire if anyone had any requests or suggestions as to what I, or any other inventor here, should work on. Whether it's improvements or some alternate version of something that already exists here, or perhaps something similar from your own world.

While I am working with magitech, I am more interested in electrical and mechanical engineering, and I'd rather stay away from weaponry unless it's more for defensive or nonlethal use. So anything of that nature will be more my type.

what about transportation when we are on land? there were these goblin carts back home that looked really fun!

I did enjoy driving the little cart on that toy island a while back, so I imagine a more life-sized version should be doable.

Any idea how those goblin carts worked?

Right? It looks fun! I don't know how they work, I haven't ridden one myself back home but it still looks pretty simple? I don't think it seems too complicated to put together?

At least this looks like it's more like a lever and crank method. Basic, but a start. Add a motor or engine to it and it would go even faster with less work on the occupant.

A motor? You could do something like that?

[Sorey is. Used to just walking to get around. Or maybe horse and carriage he has seen some others use, like Rose had.]

It might be possible. They have small motors on some of the boats, and I've built an engine for ships before. On that toy island, although rudimentary I was able to create something like a basic engine with the building blocks. Was more of a wind up type rather than using a heat source to power it, but all the concepts are there. Just a matter of designing it to an appropriate scale.

I'm not entirely sure if I know much about motors but. I can try if you need some help and show me what to do or tell me what you might need for it at least.

Want to learn a bit of engineering, eh? I'd be happy to take you under my wing.

[He has zero clue what he is really getting into. Beyond figuring it might be useful, he'd be able to help out more? And there isn't really that sort of thing back home so much.]

Yeah? If you're cool with teaching. I could at least give it a try to help out, learn something new?

I have a few books on the basics I can lend you first, see if you find it interesting.

You'll also need to be good at math and have a bit of a creative mind to solve difficult problems.

Sure, that works.

I feel like I'm not too bad about that sort of thing? I mean, considering some of the puzzles or traps we figure when exploring ruins back home sometimes.

It's certainly a start. I'm sure we'll be able to find something.

And even if not, you're always welcome to watch or assist me while I work when I need it.

Yeah, that might be a good place to start at least. It's good to keep busy, learn new things. We just didn't have anything like that back home. There's a lot of things I'm still figuring here. Outside my village in general.

Might should show you something simpler in that case. I take it your world wasn't as "high tech" as this place.

[historiology]

Not really, no. At least as far as I am aware back home. We have more horses and carriages sort of thing. Not these machines or engines or such.

[He wants to learn, at least try. Sorey is curious. It's sort of like history, if he thinks of his home as the past, compared to what Cid or this place has or is used to with more modern advances.]

[Hmmm.]

How about I show you something more simple work? Like a clock, or a scale. Their inner mechanisms are used in a lot of common devices and appliances, so they'd make for a decent starting place, and taking things apart and trying to put them back together is one of the best ways to learn how things work.

Sure, that could work. Starting simple and see where things go from there if I figure that much at least. Worth a try. A clock or scale could work, for something simpler that would be easy enough to replace or that we might have more than one around.

Then sounds like we have a fun no project for you. Just let me know when you have time and we can make arrangements.

Yeah, sure. I could use a project. Keep me occupied. But ah, yes. I am at the moment. Why? Need me to come back?
