« two truths and a lie »
TWO TRUTHS AND A LIE
There have been a lot of riftfarers arriving lately. It seems like there have been more arriving than usual. So many different kinds of people from different kinds of worlds with stories to tell and experiences to give.
A little game has appeared on the shellphone network in hopes of getting to know just a little more about these otherworlders. You might find it on your shellphone as you’re scrolling through one day.
Tell the world two truths and one lie about yourself. And let others try and decipher which of the three is your lie. If they can guess right, perhaps you’ve been able to make a new acquaintance. Or in the least learn more about someone from another walk of life.

I wouldn't have offered to grill for your housewarming party if I didn't know how to cook.

[also because the other two horrify him a little bit.]

[What's so horrifying about a small barely-able-to-walk-talk-and-read toddler doing martial arts?]

How far is China from Japan?
no subject
I dunno, about couple thousand miles by boat? Don't know how far it is by swimming, just really far.
[Because that's comforting, right?]
no subject
....why did you swim a couple thousand miles?

Pop said it'd be 'good for my training'. I still say he just was being cheap and didn't want to buy a boat ticket.

[He doesn't see the issue here.]

you could have drowned?

ranma, the job of a parent is to protect their child, not strengthen them like that.

I guess, but my old man's a martial artist too and the guy who taught me a lot I knew about martial arts growing up. He just didn't want me to be soft and get me up to snuff in martial arts. I wouldn't be as good as I am without him, even if he's a greedy lazy moron at times.

[His heart hurts deeply, to hear something like this. It's worse, to see that ranma clearly doesn't understand what happened to him.]

[Did he say something wrong?]

why was it more important for him to train you than to let you be a kid?

ranma, when I followed in my mother's footsteps to become an architect, it was because I saw what she did and loved it, and she taught me how to do it because I loved it, not because she wanted me to carry on the same way she did just because I am her son.
I think carrying on the school would be beautiful and noble. But it should be your choice, not his.

That... gave him a little pause, unsure what to say for a few minutes.]
Maybe. Don't get it wrong though. My old man's a lot of things, and gets me in all sorts of trouble and dealings and other bullcrap just to get what he wants. But if I didn't want to some day teach a dojo, I woulda left a long time ago if I could.

alright.
