TWO TRUTHS AND A LIE

There have been a lot of riftfarers arriving lately. It seems like there have been more arriving than usual. So many different kinds of people from different kinds of worlds with stories to tell and experiences to give.

A little game has appeared on the shellphone network in hopes of getting to know just a little more about these otherworlders. You might find it on your shellphone as you’re scrolling through one day.

Tell the world two truths and one lie about yourself. And let others try and decipher which of the three is your lie. If they can guess right, perhaps you’ve been able to make a new acquaintance. Or in the least learn more about someone from another walk of life.

Then I suppose I'll have to 'cop out' and choose home, after all; few places are as interesting as Trinidad. The island is a beautiful place, filled with all sorts of different peoples. I feel fortunate to have spent my childhood there.

those are the best kinds of places. the ones with all kinds of different people. but i bet the best part was the open sky! not to mention, an island must be really different from the leviathans. i'd love to visit one some day. you really are lucky.

But of course. You have my word. You'll get no finer tour than one from a local.

[Not that he thinks it's likely this will happen, but it is a nice thought.]

I was actually always partial to the open sea, moreso than the sky. But you have never been to any sort of island before?

nope! they always seemed so far away under the plate. just steel skies and walls for me, for as long as i could remember. this is actually my first time out on my own.

[ It's a little funny saying it so earnestly, she's sure. Even so, she gets the impression it's not a burden to share with him. ]

which makes you all the more valuable of a friend to me. got a favorite flower, by the way?

For that you have my most sincere congratulations. I hope you aren't finding it too difficult?

[She does seem to have a pretty good attitude about it, at least.]

But I haven't yet introduced myself: outside of this contraption, my name is Cyrus Douglas. Now, we can be friends. As for the flower, that's a difficult choice. Perhaps daffodils?

aww, thanks! but, not at all. this is what the world could look like if we took care of it, isn't it? or at least tried to.

cyrus! my name's aerith. aerith gainsborough, your local florist. daffodils were a staple of bouquets for well wishes, you know. they mean resilience and new beginnings. seems awfully fitting for us, don't you think? uh, what do they call us again? wayfair...ers?

[It does stand to reason that a florist would care about nature, doesn't it? Aerith's making a good impression on him: she seems like a very Nice young lady.]

Very true on all counts, Miss Gainsborough. We may have begun a new journey as wayfairers here, but we must still treat this world with care, as if it were our own.

Are you looking to start your business again, seeing as we will be here for the forseeable future?

well, right now, i'm just trying to help support my friends in their ventures. i'm just happy to be here, you know?

so the question is, then, what about you? are we going to be see some fine spirits with your name attached any time soon, hmmmmm?

Perhaps. I'll need to do much more research before I can even begin to explore that. There does seem to be a demand for it.

who would have thought a bunch of pirates like knocking back a few pints, huh?

speaking of a few pints, keep me in mind if you do decide to kick it back up. i bet i could sell a few kegs pretty easily. not to mention, who knows what we could cook up with some florals!

A few kegs? Sounds like a very unique sort of flower shop. Unless this is those other ventures you were speaking about.

well, aren't you a bit silly! it's actually a few kegs of your stuff, you know. i've never had a shop, you know, just a cart.
