TWO TRUTHS AND A LIE

There have been a lot of riftfarers arriving lately. It seems like there have been more arriving than usual. So many different kinds of people from different kinds of worlds with stories to tell and experiences to give.

A little game has appeared on the shellphone network in hopes of getting to know just a little more about these otherworlders. You might find it on your shellphone as you’re scrolling through one day.

Tell the world two truths and one lie about yourself. And let others try and decipher which of the three is your lie. If they can guess right, perhaps you’ve been able to make a new acquaintance. Or in the least learn more about someone from another walk of life.

First off: Do you know what a Television is?

Not trying to be rude, some people come from low tech worlds/times so. Need to check.

[Hey, he needs context!]

Course I do! I watch it every now and again. Why?

Okay, good to know, so I don't need to explain how a tv works.

Two young women disappeared without a trace, and reappeared dead several days from one another, hanging from an Tv antennas and a telephone poles during foggy days. No sign of how they were killed; no exterior wounds, bruises, and no poisons. And then throughout the year, other people disappearing, but reappearing later, seemingly tired and not remembering what happened to them when questioned.

What would you think is the cause?

Judging from your text, I'm gonna guess it wasn't through conventional means that not everyone can just pick up and use. [Cause even methods that don't spill any blood such as asphyxiation still leaves some telltale sign to their death.] Magic? Curse?
detectiveforhierophant: (Are you serious?)

Pushed through the TV screen.

Into an alternate/sub reality.

Where they were killed by manifestations of their own inner weaknesses/repressed parts of their personality called Shadows.

It'd only happen when the fog rolled in after a rainy night in our world, because it meant in the 'TV World' the fog had cleared up, and the normally docile Shadows, including their 'own', became violent. Then they'd reappear hanging from wires around town.

The sort of shit you'd see in a manga or late night anime, more or less.

[ You could just sense the exhaustion, reading the words... ]
catsgothistongue: (That's concerning)

... Huh. That it?

[Maybe it's just him being so used to weird crap happening to him, but this doesn't really faze him to hear this.]

Talk about 'you are your own worst enemy'... Sounds a lot like what happened with me a couple of times in my world. Only replace alternate reality in TV with incense that splits the good and evilness in a person. Or one that makes your literal shadow come to life to try and kill you.

[The latter not being so different from what it sounds like Dojima is describing. Minus the inner weaknesses part, the evil shadow was just a dick.]

Did they ever catch the bastard? [Wait a moment, he lost focus. They're supposed to be playing a game!] Oh wait, right, the game. With all that info you gave, I find it hard to believe 'murder TV worlds' is the lie now. Is two the lie?
