TWO TRUTHS AND A LIE

There have been a lot of riftfarers arriving lately. It seems like there have been more arriving than usual. So many different kinds of people from different kinds of worlds with stories to tell and experiences to give.

A little game has appeared on the shellphone network in hopes of getting to know just a little more about these otherworlders. You might find it on your shellphone as you’re scrolling through one day.

Tell the world two truths and one lie about yourself. And let others try and decipher which of the three is your lie. If they can guess right, perhaps you’ve been able to make a new acquaintance. Or in the least learn more about someone from another walk of life.

(Super strength is a common enhancement. Green hair is a little weird, but it's not like people only get useful changes.)

That's right, actually. Two is the lie, I was born with green hair.

I was worried for a moment there that mine would be too easy to pick out. I'm a little happy.

Super strength is pretty common in my world but both the other two are pretty weird.

Is it? I thought that having a few out-of-the-box ones would confuse people since there are so many people from different worlds here and all.

Do you have something like super strength?

Not personally, but I know people who do.

Ah, I see. It's a rare quirk in my world. But a highly useful one.

I'm guessing that quirks are what people in your world call superpowers?

[fullgauntlet]

Yes, that's right! But since it's so common for people to have "superpowers" we don't call them "super" anymore. We only use the term quirk.

(Huh. Well, now they're interested.)

I'm guessing it wasn't always that way?

Not always, quirks have only started becoming prevalent in the human race in about the last three hundred years.

(Huh. They wonder what their world will look like after 300 years of enhanced running around.

It most likely won't last that long, they think. Not the way things are going.)

We haven't even had them for a century yet in mine.

Powers are more common in some places than others, but even in Los Diablos, which has one of the biggest enhanced populations, I wouldn't call them everyday.

(Yes, they really do live in a city called that. It's apparently the result of a popular documentary referring to the ruins of Los Angeles by that name.)

Ah, it's understandable that it would vary in different worlds.

A massive earthquake triggered major fault lines on the North American West Coast resulting in more earthquakes, a tsunami, and volcanic eruptions.

It nearly destroyed the US.

Ehhhh?!?! That happened in your version of the US?! Were there heroes on site?!

That was before official hero teams were really a thing. Heroes in general had only existed for around a decade and there weren't very many.
