TWO TRUTHS AND A LIE

There have been a lot of riftfarers arriving lately. It seems like there have been more arriving than usual. So many different kinds of people from different kinds of worlds with stories to tell and experiences to give.

A little game has appeared on the shellphone network in hopes of getting to know just a little more about these otherworlders. You might find it on your shellphone as you’re scrolling through one day.

Tell the world two truths and one lie about yourself. And let others try and decipher which of the three is your lie. If they can guess right, perhaps you’ve been able to make a new acquaintance. Or in the least learn more about someone from another walk of life.

[Okay, that was really impressive. To think that somewhere out there was a world that actually had superheroes and schools just for training them! He couldn't help but wonder what that would be like.]

That's got to be a lot of fun! You know, when bad guys aren't being bad guys. Is it all just theory or do you guys actually practice this stuff? I mean besides the specialized quirk training since that sounds like it's something you have to actually do to practice. What's as reconnaissance class like? Do you guys have to travel a lot for them?

We do have classes where we have to work our way through various "What If" scenarios. My school is equipped with a few training grounds for hands-on work. But ... Sometimes we do get to work in the actual field with the pro heroes as their interns as well. Real training is important, ne?

Reconnaissance classes are mostly theory but when we try to do exercises for it we usually split up into teams and we have to find where the other teams are hiding. It's usually things like that.

As for travelling? Well, I have been to a few other countries on intern missions if that counts? When I'm a pro I'll mostly stick to Japan but I'm interested in working America too!

[Oh friend, you are living the dream of actual proper hero training. 'What if' scenarios? Pro-hero internships? Theory classes?! How can he sign up instead of just getting tossed into the deep end and hoping he can learn to swim before he sinks?

Not that that hasn't worked out so far, but it would be nice.]

Oh, hands-on work, I know that one. It's really cool that there's actually experienced people there to help you learn the ropes and everything though! I bet they have all kinds of amazing stories and insights too!

Kind of like really elaborate Capture The Flag games? Or King of the Hill? Although if everyone has abilities...Are you guys not using them in those cases? If you are though, doesn't that get kind of intense?

I don't see why it wouldn't! Can Pros work in different places like that? Just go where you're needed when you're needed? I have no idea where either place is but they must be important if you want to protect both of them.

[Let's be real, Sora would love Izuku's world. He would fit right in. And get that sweet boy some real teachers and training!]

Hmm! That's right, we've played Capture the Flag before! It's games and training sessions just like that! Except we're allow to engage in combat on top of all that. Sometimes it can be intense but our teachers are very good at watching us.

My hero course teacher has the ability to stop our quirks temporarily so ... I'll admit he's done that to me a few times after I've gotten into bad fights with Kacchan...

But yet, that's true too. I can transfer from Japan to America if I want to when I'm older too.

[He really would and who knows! Maybe one day he'll even get to visit. Obviously much weirder things have happened recently.]

Oh man, I haven't played Capture the Flag in forever! Though thinking back on how we used to play it back home, it's probably a good thing no one was around to watch out for us or we'd never have been allowed to keep playing it the way we were.

[There were not a lot of rules about what wasn't allowed the way Sora and his friends used to play. Throwing coconuts at each other? Totally allowed. Shoving each other off of plank bridges into the water? Fair game. Turning skipping ropes and volley balls into weapons to knock each other over? Was it really Capture the Flag without that? They were dangerous kids in hindsight.]

That's probably a really good ability to have as a teacher in a school full of people with super powers, yeah.

Is it complicated? To get a transfer that is. And are you allowed to go back for visits and stuff on like holidays? Providing super heroes get holidays and stuff. I guess not though, because that's not really how bad guys work.

I'll admit, Capture the Flag can get a bit competitive... Yes. But I wouldn't mind playing it again too. Maybe it would be fun to play it here sometime?

As far as scheduling for pro heroes go... You would actually be surprised. There's enough pro hero agencies that work at all times so enough heroes are working that they do get time off and holidays. They can swap and cover each other's shifts just like a real job would be like.

Although... I have to admit. I think if I was off duty and something came up? I'd still jump in to help. A hero's work is a full-time job.

That would be a blast! I'd definitely sign up for that. Maybe see if Roxas would want to as well. Bet he'd love it!

Wow, they really have thought of everything, huh? That's so cool to think that you can be a superhero and still get to have something like a regular life too. Probably leads to some really wild stories to share at dinner time too!

Yeah, yeah it really is. It's kind of just what you have to do though, right? Someone needs help, you help them. Not even a question, really.

[Not speaking from personal experience at all there or anything.]

Ah, you know Roxas-kun?

That makes me think, I've been talking about myself too much... I'm sorry!!

What about you? What sorts of things do you do for school and things like that?

[personal profile] key2myheart 2024-05-18 06:09 am (UTC)(link)
Wait, you know Roxas too? That's great!

Oh, no, there's no need to apologize! I was asking you a million questions! That's totally okay!

Uh...Well, um. Normal stuff, I guess?

[It's been a while since Sora's seen the inside of a class room. Like almost all of his teenage years.]

Hm, I do! He's one of the first friends I made here in this world. He's a good friend.

Just... normal stuff?
key2myheart: (Wondering)

[personal profile] key2myheart 2024-05-23 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
You have no idea how happy that makes me to hear! I'm really glad to hear he's got friends here too!

Well, uh...So, there's the thing. I haven't really been able to go to school for...the last couple of years. I know, I know. It sounds really bad! Stuff kept happening and getting complicated and we just kind of had to put it on hold to deal with problems.

Ah... I see. I can't blame you for that if things got complicated for you.

Are you okay?
