TWO TRUTHS AND A LIE

There have been a lot of riftfarers arriving lately. It seems like there have been more arriving than usual. So many different kinds of people from different kinds of worlds with stories to tell and experiences to give.

A little game has appeared on the shellphone network in hopes of getting to know just a little more about these otherworlders. You might find it on your shellphone as you’re scrolling through one day.

Tell the world two truths and one lie about yourself. And let others try and decipher which of the three is your lie. If they can guess right, perhaps you’ve been able to make a new acquaintance. Or in the least learn more about someone from another walk of life.

Because I like things like heroes and comic books. Movies and tv shows that feature heroes of all kinds...!

I guess it's kind of the same thing for you. You also like a lot of fairytales and daydream sometimes too...

Yeah... yeah, I do. I think I daydream a lot.

Do you have a lot of daydreams?

Normally about Pers and how often he saves the other penguins in Penguin Town. It's a little childish but I like to think I'm being productive about it.

Ah? Pers and Penguin Town? Is that a story you follow?

More that it's a story I made up.

And that I hope that I can find a conclusion to one day.

Wahh?! You made it up yourself? That's incredible!!

Really? Is it that impressive...?

[fullgauntlet]

I think it is? It's not easy to come up with stories.

[scooba]

I suppose.

I just never thought about it that way. I always thought it was considered too childish to come up with stories.

[fullgauntlet]

Comics and stories are popular where I come from! Even authors and mangaka are so popular they're treated like celebrities! It's not childish.

Ah, a mangaka is someone who draws... comics. That's the simplest way to put it.

If you keep working at your dream, you can do anything!

Take it from me... If you do work hard at a dream. It can come true.

It sounds like you know from experience. Can I ask what happened?

[fullgauntlet]

Well... It's a long story. But when I was born, I was born quirkless. In my world, that means less valuable to society because I didn't have a special power.

But I was able to get into my dream school, anyway. Because I worked hard and earned something special.

[scooba]

I see.

That is something rather admirable. I can't imagine how tough it was for you to deal with all the hardships and especially when people might have looked down on you.

[fullgauntlet]

Ahhh. You're not wrong, there were a lot of times that people did look down on me. And things were hard. But I don't blame them for that, it's a hard fact to accept but sometimes people are born different from others.

But that doesn't mean we can't try our best to achieve our dreams. I think, if anything, it should be something that pushes us harder to do it.

That is very noble of you to say that. Not a lot of people are as optimistic as you are.

I know I'm not.

I don't think there's anything wrong with that either... How we pick to find our dreams? We're all different, ne?

[scooba]

Yes, we all are and I know there is nothing wrong with that.

It just makes me wish I could be as confident as they could be.

Maybe you haven't found the way you can be confident yet?

I wasn't always confident, either. It took me years to feel good about myself, honestly.

I suppose not.

It's just a little frustrating when I see my siblings talk so proudly and be happy with their accomplishments...

[fullgauntlet]

Ah, you have siblings? I'm an only child, so I'm not too sure what it's like to compare myself to a sibling.

But I think... it's important to remember that your accomplishments are just as important a theirs. No matter how big or small?
