Subject: A Survey on Romantic Relationships
Warnings: Potential discussions about sex? I guess?? But mostly this is just Alhaitham being the most obliviously shameless man alive.

This is Alhaitham.

I have a survey that I would like people to fill. There are no restrictions or stipulations to the nature of the responder. The only request is for you to be honest when filling it up.

1) Are you currently in a romantic relationship or have been in one? (yes/no)
2) If yes, does your current or previous relationship involve sex? (yes/no)
3) List down 5 to 10 words that describe what your significant other (past or present) makes you feel.
4) What is your main priority when you are with your significant other (past or present)?
5) How do you measure or recognize your feelings as love? What separates them infatuation or sexual attraction? Describe in 100 words or less.

You are free to leave your answers in this post or direct them to my inbox. I will be following up on whatever answers I feel are necessary.

[Another pause as Alhaitham thinks over this again. He does see where Kaveh is going with this, and how people might make such assumptions.

...hmm.]

Well, it's not as if people aren't aware of your tendency to romanticize everything.

[So maybe people will just take it that way?]

Which in turn begs the question why you would be curious about this topic and not asking me. People are naturally inquisitive about the subject in others, and reticent when it comes to themselves.

[He sighs again. he's trying to make sense of this himself...]

...How important is this research to you?

So I have noticed.

[People keep thinking he's trying to be nosy?? He's fairly certain he made sure to stick to non invasive questions...

But at Kaveh's question there is another pause. It's not as long as the other two, but the key difference here is the fact that Alhaitham is looking directly at Kaveh this time, as if trying to access something.]

...very. [He eventually says to break the silence, gaze still fixed on Kaveh as he speaks.] It is very important to me.

[Perhaps even the most important thing of all.]

[Kaveh is quiet for a while, but it'd be hard to miss the pink tinging his ears and his cheeks. It's that important to him...is it?

Kaveh is many things, but he's only sometimes a fool. If this is his answer, then...]

Alright.

[He crosses his arms, trying to hold onto his scraps of indignation in vain.] You best expect your conclusion to be held to the highest standard, then.

[Alhaitham sees the tinge of pink that comes onto Kaveh's ears and blinks at them, not sure at all where that would've come from. As far as he's concerned he's simply telling the truth, just as he's always has.]

...alright. [Truthfully he is a little surprised at how much Kaveh has quietened down after his response earlier, but he's not going to question it... for now, anyway.] I'll make sure that the answer I find will be one that meets your standard.

[Saying this even though he hasn't said anything about any of this being for Kaveh's sake prior.]

Hmmph. You better. I'm not answering any of this survey until you do.

[The blush deepens, and Kaveh's huff is very obviously not out of real anger....maybe he won't make soup tonight after all.]

But you still need to put the shellphone away if we're going to get lunch.

[Well Alhaitham was never planning on asking Kaveh to answer this in the first place, so that is pretty much fine by... though now that his senior has mentioned it he supposes a part of him is curious as to what his senior's answers might be. But that can be something for another time.

For now, he'll just note the deepening flush on the architect's face and wonder about it as he goes to keep his shellphone as asked. There has already been a fair bit of responses to sift through, and he is getting fairly hungry.]

I want the thing we had the other night. [Says, as he stands up.] The one with the... bacon bits.

[He doesn't know what it was called but it was very nice.]

You are getting so spoiled here.

[Which is not Kaveh saying no, that thing was SLATHERED in cheese.]

Come on then, get your shoes.

You're always free to suggest alternatives.

[He is not so subtly pointing out the fact that you are not turning him down, senior.

But either way, the promise of lunch beckons to them, and thus Alhaitham heads to get his boots on as told so that they can go and get some much needed food.]

Is not me agreeing part of how you're being spoiled?

[He's just saying! But he's focusing on lunch. He has a lot of emotions to process, and that goes better on a full stomach.]

You can decide what to cook for dinner later, if you're so insistent.

[Though half the time Kaveh ends up making what Alhaitham likes anyway. Which he certainly isn't going to complain about.]

Ah, you're graciously allowing me to do what I always do?

[Well that is getting him gently elbowed, as Kaveh picks up his cloak on the way to the door.]

Is that not preferable to getting you to do something that you don't want to do?

[A slight elbow back before he steps forward, reaching over to where their keys are placed while they're in and swiping them right under Kaveh's nose.]

Tell me, when was the last time you actually managed to do that?

[Kaveh snorts, and then makes a mock offended gasp at the keys getting snatched.]

Hey!

[Rather than answering Kaveh's (at this point mostly rhetorical) question Alhaitham jangles the keys in front of Kaveh, jerking them out of the architect's reach when the other inevitably tries to make a swipe for them, smirking afterwards.]

You were saying?

[The teasing tone ins his voice is all but impossible to ignore.]

[Kaveh does in fact grab at the keys as predicted!]

I said you can't make me do anything!

[Continues to hold the keys away from Kaveh's reach. You can't get them, senior~]

Somehow I beg to differ.

[Can you feel the smugness that's radiating off Alhaitham right now, Kaveh. Can you.]

This isn't making me do anything, this is you being a brat!

[Kaveh has crowded right up into Alhaitham's space to try and snatch his keys back. Sir!!! You can't even claim he forgot them this time!!!]

[Alhaitham certainly has no qualms about Kaveh crowding into his space; if anything, he is very much anticipating it, for as soon as Kaveh gets close enough Alhaitham leans in to close the distance and press their lips together.]

[At some point maybe Kaveh will stop being surprised by how affectionate Alhaitham's gotten over their time here, but it's not today, a soft little gasp escaping him at the kiss. It's not like he minds, but it does stop him dead in his tracks, cheeks flushed bright again.

Of all the things he'd thought, trying to work out where they stood, it never once occurred to Kaveh Alhaitham might...simply not know. He remembers their conversation after Ocard, remembers Alhaitham's struggle to connect and explain his own feelings. Maybe he'd been in love with the man so long he never considered that love wasn't something that is etched undoubtedly in the bones from the start.

But the amount of effort that Alhaitham now puts into this, for a man so fantastically lazy...]

...You really are incorrigible. But this isn't making me do anything I don't want to...

[Kaveh grumbles, but there's still a faint smile on his face when he steals another kiss. Maybe...maybe he can indulge himself in a little hope.]

[The sight of how red Kaveh's cheeks has gotten after Alhaitham pulls away from the kiss sends a small little thrill through him; he's always liked seeing the ways that he can affect Kaveh so, and knowing now that its because his senior holds affections for him has been... an undeniably heady thought.

It's part of why Alhaitham is making himself do this, to put in the effort to understand love in all of its forms. He wants to understand it, so that he can communicate it, and when he does so it will be from a place where his senior is unable to cast any doubt on it. That what Alhaitham will show to him is love that will be fully understood and entirely genuine.

But until then this is good, and Alhaitham smiles against Kaveh's lips as his senior leans back in to take a second kiss, one hand coming to rest against his hip to keep him in place as Alhaitham returns the gesture, his own chest growing warm from something as simple as this. If he could, he'd want to have this forever.]

[Kaveh is more than happy to indulge in that kiss, sweet but growing deeper, until his stomach reminds him he really is hungry, and he pulls away with a sigh. Curse the limitations of the flesh, really...]

Come on, then. The sooner we eat, the sooner you can get back to your research, right?

[It's always a little disappointing when they have to stop kissing, but Alhaitham reminds himself that they can come back to it later. They've got time, after all.]

Mmn. Though I suppose I did promise to help out with those butterflies...

[He just wants any excuse to spend more time with Kaveh right now. Hoe could he not, with that kiss which promises more?]

You did. Before you went and got distracted, even.

[Kaveh huffs a faint laugh, but he's tangled his hand into Alhaitham's to tug them towards the door.]

But you'll be unbearably cranky if we don't get food first, either way.

[Alhaitham lets out a faint huff of his own, amusement very much showing through, but he doesn't stop the way Kaveh has tangled their fingers together, and even less so as he gets tugged towards the front door.]

Bacon bits. [A murmur to remind his senior of what they're going for today's lunch. He's not going to accept any alternatives!!]
