[So guess who finally figured out you can hide your User ID on the network? He's been here a few months now, and with this being anonymous, he finally felt comfortable to try taking suggestions publicly.]

Does anyone here have experiences with curses and or knowledge on how to break them? Asking for a friend.

[That friend is him, he's the friend.]

Yes. What is the nature of your curse?

[Hey look. It's this jerk. And he isn't being pissy. yet.]

[You know what. That's relatable. Daqaing's eyes shifting to the side and the way his chin lifted probably said a lot more about his uncomfortable understanding of that than his choice of words actually conveyed.]

So it... effects you... physically? Or mentally as well? Does it have a trigger or is it more random?

[He pulls his head back some and frowns visibly. Because that... that was way more inconvenient than having to kiss a specific person while being struck by lighting for the 'change the body' effect. The whole having to obey orders of a somewhat lazy and far too good for her own good fairy was, of course, a terrible burden that he was getting used to and didn't really inconvenience him that much since she didn't order him around that much, but to have it triggered by cold water when most of the ocean qualified as that...]

Are you on a crew or do you reduce it's risk of occurrence by staying away from the ocean?
yuezun: (Neutral: convo: confused but curious)

[Likely an aspect of the curse if cold water actively found a way to this person. Curses were like that.]

There are methods of turning curses back on their casters. There are also methods of simply breaking a curse. Depending on the how it was crafted and the intention for the curse's use, it may require a specific action to be take or item to be used.

Do you know who cast it upon you?

[that actually sounded pretty straight forward to him, as curses went.]

Then you were cursed by the angry spirit of whatever drowned in the spring you fell in. It cursed the waters and to remove the curse, the first step would be to try and find their remains and provide something to ease their ire. This could be fulfilling their last wish, it could be filling in the pool so no one else could drown, it could be a proper burial, or one of thousands upon thousands of other things.

Knowing the nature of what drowned can guide you in determining the likely efforts to take

[Okay, so maybe a bit harder to deal with than the original description implied. Daqiang was nothing if not able to change his approach given new and relevant information.]

Of course it cannot be broken here. But should a way back to our worlds be found, then you could attempt to determine it there. You could also research curses in this world to see if you can find anything that may help in the lifting. This venerable one studied many texts to try and determine the cause of the sleeping curse and ways to break it. Difficult to do when the demons that caused it were so troublesome to find, but insightful reading that may be useful in the future.

If the entire springs are cursed, then it may be the source of the springs. Since so many are gathered near to each other, it is very possible they all share some of the same source water. And where it pools up from the ground determines where the effects of the curse take root.

[All of this, and indeed, all of his side of the conversation thus far, was largely devoid of judgement. Tone remaining neutral and almost bored, but not dismissive or as if he were talking down to the currently unknown other. He wasn't about to divulge his own curse, of course, but he was genuinely interested in learning about others and perhaps helping in solving them when possible should it provide a new path of research for dealing with this own... however much he may not actively pursue dealing with it.]
yuezun: (Think: reading)

[It would be more helpful in giving advice if the person he was conversing with would provide all these details all at once. Daqiang gave a small sigh and looked to one side before moving to set the device down on what was probably a table or desk, given the edges of paperwork that could be seen. Then sat down to lean back and think. Behind him was an open and unobstructed view of the ocean, likely from someplace on a ship given the lack of buildings or land in sight.]

Just because it did nothing at the source when you visited, that does not mean it doesn't effect the curse. The curse takes root when the water pools into springs, yes? So the running water that fills it could not place the curse on a being that enters it. But it does control the curse's trigger once it is placed on a being: hot and cold water. Therefore, it has an effect on the curse in some manner. The two are certainly related.

Do you know if the curse is suppressed in the same manner that other riftfarer's powers are suppressed prior to obtaining the tattoo that weakens the seal on them?

[So whatever it was coming through the rifts did to suppress a being's power, in fact, allow curses to pass through. That was the assumption Daqiang had had when he first came through and could feel emotions - though he knew now that at least some of those emotions were his own and not Orchid's. But having it confirmed was good.

He made a small hum of acknowledgement as he thought further, then offered:]

It is possible you may be able to find or have a magical treasure crafted to suppress the curse even if it cannot be cured. If you are of the Corsairs, you may be able to find some aid with their healers. Several months ago, when this venerable one first arrived, Captain Randell Red-Lord's lost treasure was found. The treasure was a chest of coins that could cure some curses simply by touching the coin. The healers of Nogard acquired them. These coins cannot cure stronger curses and as this venerable one said, it is unlikely they can cure the one you came from. However, the loose organization that are the healers of Nogard may be able to use whatever insights they've drawn from them to suggest ways of temporarily suppressing the curse. Perhaps specific circumstances that it will not activate even if you are doused with water.

[Daqiang himself had kept one of the coins to help cure any smaller curses he or his crew may encounter. But the rest were sold off since there was no correlation between quantity of coins and power of curse cured.]

[When he'd said 'loose organization' he'd meant it. He didn't know for certain if there were any sort of actual formalized group. But there were more than a few that did business close to the ports.]

Check just outside the main port in Fang. You should be able to find a healer promoting their business and they can lead to to a centralized authority, if one exists among them.
