Curse Research.

More than a few of the riftfarers have arrived in this world with a curse from their own affecting them. If you are one of them, it is requested that you respond with the effects of the curse and how 'detrimental' it is to your daily routine. Your name for further questions and research is also requested. Reply with a 'private filter' if desired.


Aid in Removing the Effects of a Curse

Those among you whom are skilled at destruction are asked to respond to this privately to determine if your skills and power is likely to be effective in destroying a specific manifestation of a curse  that effects a riftfarer and was brought with them into this world.

Alright, I'll bite.

It's called the Reaper's Curse. Simply put, bad luck follows me no matter where I go and affects everyone around me. As for how detrimental it is, I'd give you a body count, but I've lost count at this point.

Misfortune is a common curse to put upon others. To have it effect those around you rather than yourself is cruel for cruelness sake.

Not something he advocated for, but something he might have chosen to do during the war if it had been a feasible means of sowing chaos in the ranks of Shuiyuntian's army and weakening them.

Eizen. This curse. When you say it affects everyone around you. Is is a physical curse on all who share your bloodline, those whom you have a personal connection to that is more than incidental business, or all those within physical reach of you for a set distance? Does it manifest the same in this world as the world you come from?

No, it’s not bloodline exactly. It ties into more complex details of my world.

Simply put, I’m what’s known as a malak– an elemental spirit of sorts. All malaks exert their power or blessing within a certain radius, which is called a domain. My blessing just so happens to be a curse instead. Anyone who gets caught in my domain, which boils down to how close they are to me, can potentially be affected by the curse. It hasn’t been as severe here so far, but it’s reared its head enough for it to have made situations more dangerous than they damn well needed to be.

What 'element' are you a spirit of that your domain manifests as a curse?

The element I am has nothing to do with it. Any malak can be afflicted with this curse regardless of their element.

But I'm an earth malak, for what it's worth.

Your curse is one that can affect anyone like you. What is the source of the curse? Were you able to use your power without harm to others at any time before the effects started? Or were you always cursed from the first time they manifested?

Afraid that's beyond my own knowledge. As for when it manifested, I can't say. All I know is that I noticed it when it started happening around my younger sister. Bad thing after bad thing started happening to her and it didn't take long for me to realize that I was the cause.

Not knowing the source makes the specifics of the curse more difficult to determine. Not impossible, but as it is a curse from a world outside this one, it will be much harder to research than one born from this world.

You said it is physical proximity to yourself and bad luck. Does the manifestation of the bad luck take one form more often than any others? Injuries, loss of fortune, misplacement of possessions?

Yeah, I figured as much. I'll be honest that I'm not banking on finding a cure given I hadn't been able to find one over centuries of looking.

No, there's not too much rhyme or reason to it. Sometimes it's something as simple as losing a pen right when you need it; other times it's a literal roof falling down on your head.
