[So two idiots walk into a ship-bar and get drunk and start talking about how ✨attractive✨ their partner (or almost partner) is. What happens, as a result, is a stupid drunken argument about who’s partner is hotter. Someone please stop them before they make even bigger fools of themselves?!]

Did i mention cute? Cat ears and tail. Cute when he purrs. And so smrt you’ll feel like a better person just talkin to him.

[ Sherlock yes! Toby was the best dog and saved his life. Sherlock will probably try to befriend the Hound of the Baskervilles in the future, just another scary-looking, hungry dog needing affection. ]

Thank you for the warning. I will attempt to avoid his owner's spikes.

Did you have a dog of your own?

I did when I was a child. He was an intimidating stray who we befriended and named Toby. We went on many adventures together.

Nothing finer than a young lad and his loyal partner. I hope he kept you out of trouble as well?

He did, multiple times. I was safe whenever Toby was with me.

What kind was he? And perhaps what's the most memorable story you can share?

[He's noting the past tense so he doesn't need to ask about that. Instead it would be nice to share a memory.]

I could not tell you what breed he was. The best I can do is this.

[ Pretend that this dog is redrawn by Sherlock in his casebook and then photographed to share here. Toby still looked like a battle roughened stray, but his expression and pose is that of a happier dog, tongue out and bright eyes. ]

As for a memorable story, it has to be when we met. Dudley was the biggest bully on Cordona, and his favorite target was me and my friend. He could find us anywhere on the island despite seeming to never use his brain. Furthermore, Dudley could make any child do his bidding because they feared him. However, he came across someone who wasn't afraid of him. If anything, he was angry and willing to stand his ground as we hid nearby.

Toby barked at Dudley and tore a hole in his trousers as he ran away screaming in terror. My friend was scared of Toby, but I wanted to get closer. Toby looked hungry, and I had a sandwich in my pocket. He took it and let me pet him. We brought him many more snacks after that, and he started to go on adventures with us. Dudley never came near as long as Toby was with us.

[Aaah a type of mutt. But that's not a bad thing, and Cid just reads with a light smile while scratching Torgal's ears who yawns, oblivious.]

Just from that alone I can tell he was truly a brave hound. Did you ever formally take him in or let him roam?

[ Toby's breed is GOOD DOG. ]

No, he would not have been welcomed at home. He wouldn't stay regardless. Toby would disappear on us for days or weeks at a time and then come back as if he hadn't left at all.

A wanderer and true adventurous spirit, then. To return to you so many times is proof of how much you bonded, is truly an honor.
