[ In a rare display, Emet-Selch opts to appear in person. This is important enough to warrant an appearance, he thinks.
The backdrop appears to be a cabin on a ship somewhere. He fills most of the screen so there's not much of significance to be gleaned from it. His posture is relaxed, fingers interlaced loosely before him on the table that his shellphone sits upon. ]
Greetings, one and all.
I and Rem Tokimiya of the Raiders of the Lost Arts are seeking engineers to assist with the development of an engine. 'Tis past time we made a concerted effort to develop one. Inevitable, I would say, as this world has progressed to magical trinkets. We have examined schematics of an old pirate ship and seek to eventually put it to practical use to improve the fleets of both paladins and corsairs.
[ He pauses. It looks as though he wants to add something but he seems to think better of it. ]
Send word to either myself or Rem if you are interested in contributing to the work. While an engine capable of powering a ship is our eventual goal, 'twill be enough to make something on a smaller scale for now - such as heaters for winter or automatic fans for summer.

Mayhap attempt to incorporate small amounts of magic when you build tools and machine parts. The practice will benefit you, whether or not you use it in a practical sense later.
For example: a welding torch that does not use fuel but the energy of fire.

I’m not sure how to use ice with wielding…

[ Emet-Selch, after all this time, hasn't realised some people are restricted in their elements... ]

If you want fire, you're going to have to ask my brother, Lyney.

Ice has its uses however. Engines generate immense amounts of heat. We shall have to develop a suitable cooling system.

I just....would need to figure out a way for it generate heat. I think there should be crystals that could make it happen but we're going to need some assistance.

Unless you mean to use the fire crystals for practice, there's no need for you to generate the heat yourself, dear boy. The prototype engines are a group effort. The typical way to maintain the temperature of an engine is to have cooling tubes running past the thing generating heat. The liquid which flows inside will take the heat away and let it dissipate safely.

Were you going to attempt to build the entire thing by yourself?
no subject
Yes, I was. I'm sorry, I should have clarified it with you.
no subject
But yes, you will not be building this alone. So if you were worried about that then you needn't be any longer. You need only focus on what you are willing to contribute.

Thank you. I just want to help out as much as I can here. It feels like I haven't been doing much when everyone has what they need...

Perhaps I should restart making penguins here.

You could also make other creatures, not only penguins.

I just...didn't think that there were people who might be interested in them. I suppose I need to start looking for materials now...

But thank you. Maybe this is the sort of encouragement that I need.
