Hey, this is Ryotaro Dojima, part of the Raiders of the Lost Arts.

[Ignore that Strabby with a pink bow walking around in the background behind him... ]

I've been here for a few months now, and I've noticed a few patterns talking to folks about where and when they're all from. Call me curious, but I'm interested in actually getting info of this, making a record-- a census, I guess.

So-- If you guys wouldn't mind telling me; where are you from-- town, country, planet even if you can, and what year?

[ A pause as he thought, before continuing. ]

--To be fair, I can provide my own. I'm from a small rural town in Japan, Inaba, on the planet Earth. It was 2012 when I arrived here.

--Ah, one last thing. If you remember where someone who was here before but vanished is from, I'll take that info too.

[ Reaching to turn off the phone as he spoke-- ]

This venerable one is from the Ninth Youxin County of Cangyanhai, in the Three Realms. This venerable one is uncertain if the year in Cangyanhai would matter for you as time in the mortal realm moves differently than in the immortal realms. Additionally, the mortals are known to change the measures of their time every few centuries.

[He's not actually sure what the mortal year would be at this point. And the immortal measure was... well, often measured by the span between big events.]

Would you say your world had a lot of what would be considered magic in this world compared to others you've heard of here?

[ He could guess, but best to get it straight from the source. ]

Yes. Both magic and what is known as 'cultivation'. Much of what can be performed through cultivation in the Three Realms has been observed in this world to be done by magic. Some have mistaken this venerable one's power for magic when observing it. He is also talented at magic.

[He would not publicly admit to there being some magics he had no talent with, but most of the crew were aware of where his talents generally lay.]

I see... so 'cultivation' and magic are separate things, but to the unknowing eye can be mistaken for one another...

[ And he sort of knew the next question, but might as well ask-- ]

What about technology in the Three Realms, if I may ask?

Many of the things that are achieved in this world with technology or magitech, are achieved with only magic or using magic and one's cultivation together. Or the use of magical treasures. These shellphones, which can show images of us and convey what we say and do... this can be achieved with a tianji mirror. The function that lets us speak to each other with our voices or writing instantaneously can be achieved with a communication array.

Otherwise, this world is similar in it's 'level' of technology. Cloth is woven on similar looms. Food is cooked over similar stoves. Jewelry is crafted in similar forges. Buildings are built with similar stone and wood.
