[ The screen would flick on, and man of Japanese origin would pop on screen, sitting at a desk that may look familiar to some. ]
Hey, this is Ryotaro Dojima, part of the Raiders of the Lost Arts.
[Ignore that Strabby with a pink bow walking around in the background behind him... ]
I've been here for a few months now, and I've noticed a few patterns talking to folks about where and when they're all from. Call me curious, but I'm interested in actually getting info of this, making a record-- a census, I guess.
So-- If you guys wouldn't mind telling me; where are you from-- town, country, planet even if you can, and what year?
If you don't feel comfortable posting your information publicly, feel free to private message me.
[ A pause as he thought, before continuing. ]
--To be fair, I can provide my own. I'm from a small rural town in Japan, Inaba, on the planet Earth. It was 2012 when I arrived here.
--Ah, one last thing. If you remember where someone who was here before but vanished is from, I'll take that info too.
[ Reaching to turn off the phone as he spoke-- ]
Dojima out.

Nice to meet you, Nimona.
[ He is taking notes. 'Kingdom' without a proper name or world... but a level of technology that sounded like it was from an anime. ]
--So you had some pretty high tech stuff... any magic to speak of?
[ He should've asked that too from the start, come to think of it. Well, he can do that in the responses. ...And make a note to ask no matter how mundane the person may seem. Looks can be deceiving. ]
And Kotori was from Japan... do you think the tech from her time was like it is here, or closer to yours? Did she mention anything about that?
--Thanks a lot for answering. I appreciate it.

So you're part of Dongfang's crew, huh? What's that like?
[ She lifts an apple and crunches on it. ]
Yeah. Though, you know, the Kingdom still has knights that wear armor and use swords. They're just sometimes also using laser weapons like crossbows and flying vehicles. As for magic... [ Nimona points at herself. ] Just me.
[ That same hand makes a so-so motion at his next question. ]
Kotori knew what food trucks were and how to work a phone, but her world didn't sound like either mine or this one. Maybe something that doesn't have any magical or mystical stuff, because she said she had no powers and was so different from most people here when we first met.

[ --Now that he was... allowing himself to relax a bit, to just accept that these different worlds did exist, his natural curiosity was coming out more. That so many different things could exist... ]
And you're the only known magic user, got it-- Ichigo. Hey, no.
[ Gently nudging the walking strawberry with googly eyes out of the camera's view with his pencil's eraser. He preferred working with pencil here in case he made mistakes-- ]
Meanwhile Kotori probably came from a more mundane version of Japan, or wasn't aware of magic if it did exist. [ an important distinction, he learned. After all, he couldn't use magic and only knew it second hand, but apparently something like it did exist in his world. ] But probably closer to my time if she knew about food trucks and phone...
[ So he'd put it around... 1980s to 20xx, that seemed to work. He could change it if anyone had more information. ]
--As for your question...
[ Now, he didn't want to say anything that'd upset the Captain, but, he also was going to be honest. ]
--Honestly, a lot more civil and organized than I worried it would be. Professor Turo was the one invited, and I more or less tagged along out of concern since we were both Paladins heading to a mostly Corsair ship.
[ And well. There was reason for animosity, especially after that bullshit scheme that group of Paladins had cooked up to just... kill off any Corsair they found. ]
--But Dongfang is the type of man that if you give him respect or earn his respect without being an ass kisser, he respects you back and looks out for you. Most people on here are researchers to some level or looking for a more neutral ship to crew on, it seems.

[ What is European? ]
Yeah, she never talked about any magic, so that sounds like a good thing to put down for her.
[ Nimona plops her chin in hand as he talks about Dongfang. ]
He doesn't like it when you do annoying things, at least that was my first experience. But I guess he's not that bad of a guy. I just wondered if maybe he was a hardass, because he's, you know, Emperor or whatever.
