Video || Census Call
Type: Video
Sender ID: detectiveforhierophant (Ryotaro Dojima)
To: General Public
Subject: Census Call
Warnings: None!
[ The screen would flick on, and man of Japanese origin would pop on screen, sitting at a desk that may look familiar to some. ]
Hey, this is Ryotaro Dojima, part of the Raiders of the Lost Arts.
[Ignore that Strabby with a pink bow walking around in the background behind him... ]
I've been here for a few months now, and I've noticed a few patterns talking to folks about where and when they're all from. Call me curious, but I'm interested in actually getting info of this, making a record-- a census, I guess.
So-- If you guys wouldn't mind telling me; where are you from-- town, country, planet even if you can, and what year?
If you don't feel comfortable posting your information publicly, feel free to private message me.
[ A pause as he thought, before continuing. ]
--To be fair, I can provide my own. I'm from a small rural town in Japan, Inaba, on the planet Earth. It was 2012 when I arrived here.
--Ah, one last thing. If you remember where someone who was here before but vanished is from, I'll take that info too.
[ Reaching to turn off the phone as he spoke-- ]
Dojima out.

...That sure was a username. Judging from what he remembered in reading the warning post Turo put up, this was Chris. ]
[ ...He was hesistant to ask the guy about his worlds... tech, judging by the guy's body markings and Turo's reaction to his... powers, but. A Detective had to be thorough. ]
Thanks, I appreciate it. Do you mind me asking how the tech level of your world compares to this one? And any Magic Powers to speak of?

Medical tech is pretty advanced though. It's not really magic but people can get superpowers through drugs or cybernetic modifications.
I can tell you more later if you want.
(Later as in: off the network.)

Is your internet something you'd more so use with your...say, mind, like plugging yourself into it compared to what the shellphones do?
And science induced super powers, right. Thanks a lot.
[ --Next message would come in privately. He had a feeling Chris felt the need to be... cautious, so he could return the favor. He didn't know if he trusted them, after what happened, but Turo cared too much, and hell, so did he, to not respect their need for privacy. ]

Sure thing. Next time you come by and I'm around, feel free to fill me in on what you feel comfortable sharing.

Are you asking if people have mods that connect to the internet? That sounds like it would be a nightmare for security. Also not very useful.
(What would they do with that? Go browse hero ranking sites immediately after battles? Talk to people on forums while doing a stakeout? That doesn't seem worth inviting hackers into your brain.
Sure the internet here is pretty useful but that sort of wide ranging communication would require the corporate overlords cooperating for the good of the people. Fat chance of that happening, and the more isolated local networks they have right now at home just aren't good enough.)
I'm pretty sure our communications are less advanced than a lot of other worlds. There are localized networks run by individual companies that can be accessed with personal computers.

Alright. My old phone doesn't work anymore, you can have it if you want.
(Even if they could get it working it's just a burner, and they can't call their contacts.)
