[The feed starts off with nothing but Denji's face crowding the camera beaming a toothy grin until he finally props the shellphone up against a nearby tree before stepping back a few paces, flashing his signature peace sign followed by a teasing wink.]

What's up everyone! Been awhile since I've talked on here but I'm back with some sick news!

[Turning away from the camera momentarily the teenager whistles loudly with a wave of his hands in front of his face. A few seconds of silence filled the air until the sound of a dog barking fills the void as the massive Irish wolfhound practically tramples him, quickly knocking the boy off his feet as it begins to lick his face furiously. Ensuing laughter following as he gently pushes his newfound companion off him patting his head, a wholesome smile filling over his features.]

Check out my new doggo! He's fuckin' huge, eh!?

[His furry canine barking on cue at the praise whilst Denji picks up a stick from the ground and throws it into the shallows of ocean, his pet rushing off to retrieve it instantaneously.]

I saved him and a bunch of others from this rich asshole's island that me and Eustace raided awhile ago! The rest are safe and sound at the animal sanctuary if anyone wants one too!

[The wet dog comes back with the stick between its teeth, tail wagging happily before shaking its fur of the excess water causing Denji to throw his hands up defensively.]

Aw c'mon dude!! Oh yeah, I almost forgot the other reason I'm here...What kinda name should I give him? I've just been callin' him doggo for like a month now. If anyone wants to meet him we're at the beach in Eltrut right now or you can hit me up later! Peace out!

But he will smile a little at seeing the display and the words before humming a little.]

In that case, either of those two names would fit... But it would also depend on if he also responds to them.

[The boy nods in understanding as he looks to give them each a test drive, pointing a finger towards his furry friend a stern look crosses Denji's face.]

Alright! Lets give it a go!

[Clearing his throat he motions towards the ground of the sandy beach as he ushers forth his command.]

Lay down, Steel!

[The dog simply sits there tilting its head a bit in confusion, standing up instead as it quickly jumps up to press its paws against his chest. Blinking wide eyed he shakes his head with a shrug of his shoulders followed up. One down, one to go?]

Uh....Guess that one is out.

Are you sure he even knows the commands?

[But the reaction was definitely lukewarm.

Still what kind of response was that...]

I mean...Maybe?

[He honestly had no idea. Surely they taught the dogs some sort of obedience back on that island though right?]

Look Eustace I know things look bad right now but gimme another chance alright? He probably just thought that name was dumb or something!

[Standing in front of his unnamed canine companion the teen furrows his brows with a look of pure determination, waving a hand in front of him with unwavering confidence. The dog sat there with the stick still in its mouth so he thought this the perfect opportunity to try something different.]

Drop the stick...Excalibur!

[One...Two...Three seconds go by until he finally lets it go but was that just dumb luck? Who knows he'll take it! Grinning with utter delight he throws his arms up in the sky triumphantly.]

[No, he's going to continue to judge—

But he will watch the dog and... Hm.]

What about "Cal" or something similar for short? Most dogs respond better to one- and two-syllable names than longer ones.

Oh? For real!?

[Eustace would know better than him considering the other had a dog of his own for quite some time before Denji adopted his own furry friend after their fateful encounter on the island. Nodding in understanding he picks up the stick aiming it at the ocean before tempting his newfound friend with it teasingly.]

Okay then...Cal! Do you like that name buddy?!

[Barking loudly his canine companion wags its tail happily, jumping up to press its paws against his chest and knocking the boy on his ass unceremoniously laughing hysterically.]

Shit- Easy dude!!

[Looking back towards the feed with an earnest smile as he lays on the flat of his back with his pup looming on top of him.]

Seems that he likes it.

[Oh, that was definitely a big reaction and Eustace is a little surprised, especially at the tumbling display...but also amused and smiles a little too himself as he mostly hears the commotion and sort of can see Denji.]

Looks like it.

You could always officially name him Excalibur if you still wished, but Cal is a good name. And I'm glad to see he's bonded well with you.

[They were getting along famously so far, Denji enjoying the company of his newfound companion after the events unfolded on the island. Becoming thick as thieves in such a short time the pair had quickly become inseparable.]

I like the sounds of Cal to be honest could be short for Excalibur since it was Mid's idea, I think she'll probably like it too.

[Did he want to make a girl he's into happy by naming his puppy after her suggestion? Maybe, maybe not.]

So it's done! Your name is officially, Cal!

[The dog barking loudly as it licks at Denji's face seemingly happy with its newly minted namesake.]

[...Mid? Is that who suggested it? Must be a friend of his. Eustace is too focused on dog to care about whatever relationships Denji has going on (and probably wouldn't really even without—)

And the sound of the bark is now making Valo curious. HE WAS BEING GOOD AND COURTEOUS but...doggo!!!!

So hey Denji, have a doberman suddenly poke his face onto the screen with Eustce's muffled, "Oy, Valo—" heard in the background.]

[What kind of big brother doesn't want to meet his potential girlfriend to be that he's trying to impress with his newfound dog, Eustace? C'mon dude!

Onto the matter at hand as the doberman enters the other's feed causing Denji to blink wide in astonishment followed by an amused grin.]

Yo! Hey buddy! You must be Eustace's dog...Valo did he say?!

[Almost on cue his own pup enters the feed sniffing at the camera before giving a tilt of its head curiously, barking out happily wagging its tail excitedly.]

Seems like Cal wants to meet you!

[The kind who doesn't want to get caught up in some mess.]

It's Valo, yes.

[A bit muffled as he moves the phone so that Valo is still mainly on the screen, but he can see Eustace behind him.]

I do know a few parks in Nogard that are good for dogs if you do want them to meet.

[Wow. Have a little faith in the boy!]

Nice to meet ya!

[Genuinely curious about these dog parks himself surely his canine counterpart would love to partake in them considering how much energy he had giving him a run for his money.]

Sounds like a good plan to me! Would you like that, Cal? You wanna go to the park and chill with your new buddy Valo?

[Once again his newfound companion barks loudly as he unceremoniously jumps up joyously pressing its front paws to his chest.]

[A small quiet laugh.]

I'll send you directions. Just let me know when you have time.

[nutsornothing]

[Denji flashes his signature peace sign with followed by a nod in agreement.]

I'm down whenever works for you man!! Maybe sometime next week so long as shit doesn't hit the fan?!

[Before he can answer, Valo barks and he just smiles a little.]

Sure.

[Of course that little smile is definitely to Valo. How can he say no after his dog clearly wants to play??]

[That deserves an amused grin in return followed by a thumbs up. Denji cannot help but blink wide in astonishment when he sees Eustace actually smiling to boot!]

Wait- Did you just smile, Eustace?! I think that's like the first time I've ever seen that!

[Teasing the other a bit as the smirk over his features grows wider.]

[And that smile is gone.]
