In addition to being poorly written with a ridiculously long title, the text itself contains errors.

It doesn't, actually. The names are...close to historical figures, but I realized after a while that the discrepancies were deliberate.

If the readers are supposed to solve the mystery and not the characters, perhaps you unintentionally circled a key player in the murder and defeated the purpose of the novel.

Hm. That was foolish on the part of the writer. Changing a known historical name was bound to bring more attention to it and the character regardless of their role in the story.

I honestly didn't even realize that was the murderer...

And then alhaitham went and circled another name to make the spoiler less obvious and somehow that snowballed...

Like hiding a book in a library instead of on a table. It becomes that much harder to find.
