Two nerds and their robot
Type: Video
Sender ID: peopleneedyou (Tadashi Hamada) featuring; Hiro Hamada (baymaxing) & Baymax
To: Everyone
Subject: Meet the Hamadas and Baymax
Warnings: None
[ The video post starts up to reveal the faces of the Hamada brothers, along with what looks like a red suitcase beside Hiro. Their location isn’t anything special, just somewhere inland on Elrut right now, but the elder brother is smiling anyway. ]
Hello everyone, I’m Tadashi Hamada and this is my younger brother…
[ Tadashi motions to Hiro. The younger brother waves, smiling, and turns his gaze from Tadashi to the phone. ]
I’m Hiro! And this… [He gestures to the suitcase next to him before purposely pulling off a plaster from his knee. His ‘ow’ in instinctive response activates the robot inside, causing Baymax to inflate and turn on, introducing himself with a wave. ]
Hello. I am Baymax, your personal healthcare companion. I was alerted to the need for medical attention when you said ‘ow’.
You’ll be seeing Baymax around one or both of us often, so we wanted to introduce him and ourselves. I’m also interested in finding out if anyone had a temporary charging solution seeing as how I haven’t come across a power outlet anywhere yet. [ Tadashi holds up the power cord on Baymax’s charging station for anyone who hasn’t seen anything like it before. ]
Yeah, I’m not sure if the technology here is necessarily compatible—at least, not without some adapting or figuring on our part. Baymax is the priority. Even if it would be cool to actually use my handheld, it won’t die on me eventually. Tadashi and I were both pretty good with tech back home, but this might take some adjusting.
[ Hiro says, a puff of air from his sigh shifting his mess of bangs before he raises his hands in reassuring Baymax that he was fine given the robot approaches and wants to check him over. ]
On a scale of one-to-ten…
[ Tadashi chuckles as he moves to end the video recording for the post while Baymax tends to Hiro. ]

I'd say he's more of an inflatable robot than an android.

[There's an excitement to Gohan's voice, that's some crazy technology. If Bulma were here she'd lose her mind at the prospect of it.]
That's amazing! So he doesn't have any mechanical parts?
no subject
[ Tadashi presses on Baymax's stomach, it does push in quite a bit. ]
He does have mechanical parts. He has a very simple skeleton, sort of like when you draw a stick figure. It helps to house all of the medical equipment he needs and allows him to lift heavy things.

He's got a simple bone structure and a malleable exterior, but he can still do heavy lifting? That's amazing! What happens if he gets a hole in him, can he self-repair or do you have to do maintenance on him? You said he'll need to be recharged eventually, what kind of power source does he use? [Here comes the barrage of science questions...]
Oh, a-and... he said he's a healthcare companion. What exactly does he do?

He can lift up to a thousand pounds. There are extra inflated pieces in his lower arms to help him stabilize whatever he's carrying. This way if he carries a person, they aren't pressing down on his skeleton. Yes, he can do some self-repair. Small punctures are easy for him to patch up, but larger ones would mean replacing the vinyl. Baymax runs on electrical charge. Like when you plug in a device to a wall.
I have been programmed with over ten thousand medical procedures.
Honestly, Baymax can do anything to treating surface level injuries to surgery. He scans his patients to get their medical history and determine their current injury or problem, then determines how to best treat them. Basically, think of him as an Emergency Room nurse.

[Color Gohan impressed. He has a basic level of understanding when it comes to robotics, enough to understand that Baymax is really impressively constructed to be able to do the things he does with the parts he has.
Capsule Corp would love to have an engineer like him on their payroll, that's for sure...]
Does he only know how to handle humans? What about animals? Or maybe people who aren't human?
[It makes him wonder what would happen if Baymax scanned someone like him, with his half-alien heritage.]

[ Once Tadashi graduates, he definitely wants to join a company that would allow him to build things like Baymax. ]
He is only programmed for humans or those with mostly human anatomy. All of his medical knowledge comes from a doctor who takes care of humans. Other than animals, there aren't any other kinds of non-humans in my world. However, he could learn a lot just by scanning someone who isn't human, but he'd still need to gather information to be able to treat them properly.
[ It would certainly be interesting to have Baymax scan a Saiyan or half-Saiyan. ]

Well, I think you're in a good place for that. We've got a lot of people from different worlds here, so even if everyone's human here, they're probably biologically different from the humans he's used to.
