[Given the field, and edge of a forest just within sight, it could be guessed that Turo was somewhere within Cosmo Conservatory on Eltrut; sitting there in the tall grass as a bit of fog forming could also be seen. Those who remembered his plushie announcement could likely spot both familiar creatures vaguely there and- well.

A lively nest just within the hollow of a fallen tree; the eggs no longer eggs.]

I am happy to announce that there are now several hatched Cloud Hoppers, healthy, with a proud set of parents just as lively and active-

[—and that was a bark, followed by the sound of something loping in and half knocking into Turo from behind, the strange looking dog popping up with paws over his shoulders and panting. Head tipped so one eye was on the shellphone and the light indicating the camera was on. A bright set of feathers behind those ears bobbing a little with all of the movement.]

-and I suppose my new friend wishes to introduce herself. Has anyone here happened to have see a dog like this before?

[As said dog deliberately flopped right into his lap, tail wagging; something perhaps a little odd in how one eye remained focused sharply still on the shellphone.]

A pack of them seem to have been exploring the sanctuary grounds, peacefully at least. She is the only one to have broken off from them. I must admit that some of their markings remind me of a creature from my home region.

An understandable recruitment indeed. The creation, care, and thought put into Baymax certainly shows it; I did offer to help them create a way to keep him charged if they needed it.

[Along with the door of Cosmo Conservatory's clinic being open whenever they wanted to drop by- but that aside.

You are likely right, they both are passionate about helping and- well, my unique nature perhaps easier for that. Your help will be appreciated still, and we do have a few things to discuss, if you are still interested in those metal 'punch cards', so something mutually beneficial there.

I had a feeling you would, and I am glad to hear it.

[He nods in agreement, and he'll assume that Turo would rather reach them directly, which would be better than trying to be a middle man.]

By the "punch cards," you mean those cards found in the Abyss?

[And once again there's that light of curious interest in his eyes.]

[He would certainly make the time for it, next chance he got—

Turo did walk to the bag hanging onto the back of a chair with his lab coat, pulling one of those metal cards out; of course he kept a couple on hand to study. Holding it up as added confirmation.]

I do. I have been creating an alphabet of my own to translate into punch-marks, to sort of test the theory; just the start of creating cards and a machine that could read the marks.

Helping to create that machine, however, may certainly fall into your skillset.

You have caught my interest, aye. What's this machine like?

It is something very basic- a primitive computer, but one that can be programmed through those punch cards. Can be taught to do basic mathematics, work towards the more complicated.

[There was a little movement to his hands, a gesture even with the 'punch card' in hand as he spoke.]

A metal box, wires- essentially teaching metal, stone, and mineral to perform simple tasks depending on what else you can add to it. Far less complicated that my own brain, but it is where every single piece of technology such as computers started.

The shellphones sound like these computers you speak of, which has always baffled me how they were able to create such a device, but not much else. I wonder if a riftfarer was be hind it.

But this other machine does seem more doable, moreso if I had some schematics to work off of.

They are very similar to the present day Rotomphones of my world, which essentially are like hand-held computers. If I had to guess it is likely a riftfarer was, yes.

[The metal card was set aside as Turo moved to grab one of several sketch books and a pencil, doing something in an open page as he spoke-]

I may be able to give you something to start with off my memory. History is important, and knowing where things once started is a well learned lesson. Some materials could be harder to get, but there are alternatives that exist here.

[Cid will pick up the card to turn it over, examining it more closely now that they aren't under the pressure of the Abyss.]

Have you tried finding anything in the archives about this machine? Records to indicate they once existed or their use?

[Something had clearly, and neatly, created those holes into the metal. Machine press perhaps? Turo was still puzzling over that much, but he had felt the used of metal meant it had to be something meant to last longer than the usual paper punch cards-

If that was what they were. Could even be something musical.]

Much is lost, but there are certain legends that have spoken that this world was filled with something... more advanced, for lack of better phrasing at the moment; like the shellphones.

[ramuhs]

I'd believe it. Even my world had a time when the people were able to create advanced tech, even airships and cities that flew above the ground before they all came crashing down.

[fractales]

My world is still advancing, and the potential future may be quite the site if the paradox pokémon from the future are any sign of that- ah, that is what the creatures I carry with me are.

I am one of a kind, as nothing else like me exists there. [What made his creation possible also made the Time Machine possible as well.

Hell of a thing, honestly.]

[ramuhs]

Given such similarities, then it's just a matter of digging to see if we can't find more. Which could be difficult depending how much may be under lock and key and not available to the public.

[As it always is.]

I can always see how far I can go into the Elah Archives- they tend to let me in to some places simply because I am a scientist that has proven reliable. Otherwise there is the mastery of 'I belong here' I could employ from my creator's own attitude whenever he did not wish to be disturbed.

[If there was anything there-]

Otherwise there is keeping an eye out in ruins or... places where the rich dwell.

[ramuhs]

Hmm, and that area may be where my own resources would prove useful.

[A mischievous grin as he alludes to his corsair ties.]

Still, this is good start with knowing what to even look for.

If you can catch wind of wealthy collectors who favor anything of the old world, I shall leave that to you. I will also inform you of anything of interest I find within Elah's Archives, amongst anything else my explorations bring me across.

[There was good reason he didn't at all judge- he was part of a Corsair crew despite is Paladin ties; which also meant he knew well how to use those ties. Information was meant to be shared as far as he was concerned.

This fell into that area.]

I'll keep that all in mind. Hopefully we'll find some information sooner than later, but I suppose this is also something that doesn't require haste.

[Unless those punch cards somehow hold some important prophecy or something.]

Is there anything else?

Something to always keep somewhere in the back of the mind, you never know when you may stumble across something of a lead. [He'd do the same.

Likely would ask Dojima to keep an ear out for any rumors around the Taverns and docks during his rounds.]

I do not believe so, unless there is something on your mind- and you are welcome to take that one if you did not keep a hold of any from the crater. I still look them over, if there is even some engraving somewhere on the metal a well.

I did not, thinking they would serve better in more professional hands. So if you don't mind, I'll borrow this one.

I do not mind at all, I have a few others in my possession.

[The fact that Turo kept a few of them at least meant he didn't mind bending the rules here and there, more so when a freedom of further examination would be questionable.]

[And Cid will not judge that all, thinking it a wise decision, really.]

Then I think that's all for now. Oh, I did wonder about that dog a bit. Bit partial to them, wolves included.

There was a bark from where Mariposa had settled, tail wagging slowly-]

Ah, yes. We have a few dogs here already; rescued from an island from a cruel owner if I recall- and it seems as if the pack Mariposa here is from will be hanging around. They are rather interesting.

There were quite a few dog-like pokémon in Paldea, so perhaps I am somewhat partial myself. Mariposa and the others of her kind remind me a little of one known as Houndoom, that also are capable of breathing fire.

[Ah, there she is! With curious intrigue, Cid will make a slow approach and crouch down so he can slowly extend his hand out to her.]

Worked with a few hunting dogs back in the day and picked up a wolf that I had to return to his owner later after they were reunited. I've a cat and a little owl now, but I have considered taking in another dog from time to time...

But being busy as I am, I feel I can't quite make the commitment just yet.

Sounds like quite the adventure. Dogs seem as if they are very companionable, to say the least. I have a cat as well, along with my team of pokémon and the bugsnax I have been observing. I am quite used to working with animals of some sort, you could say.

[Watching Wendy, along with his own Bunger Chipotle, and of course Dojima's Strabby Ichigo.

Mariposa perked up, those attached feathers moving as ears flicked against them. Leaning as she moved, sniffing at the offered hand. A warm sort of snuffling against the palm in greeting after.]

She did my entire rounds with me, so it appears that perhaps her kind have a natural friendliness to them. The rest of the pack found those other dogs and got them up and playing, so they do not mind other animals.

You would be welcome to come by just to visit them if you wished, when not so busy.

[Seeing the friendly approach, Cid smiles and gently scratches under her chin and around her head, careful with the leaves since he's not sure how sensitive they are.]

I may just consider it should I need a breather or around the area.

[The feathers seemed to be growing from 'horns' that were covered in antler-like-velvet, so was very much a sort of natural 'decoration' than not, but at least meant they weren't overly sensitive. Mariposa still leaned into that scratches, tail wagging with a happy noise.

She felt much warmer than a normal animal should be, but perhaps that had to do with the fact she could produce fire.]

It is rather peaceful around here, after all. A reason I do some of my work here, when it does not require a lab, but more reading.
