[Given the field, and edge of a forest just within sight, it could be guessed that Turo was somewhere within Cosmo Conservatory on Eltrut; sitting there in the tall grass as a bit of fog forming could also be seen. Those who remembered his plushie announcement could likely spot both familiar creatures vaguely there and- well.
A lively nest just within the hollow of a fallen tree; the eggs no longer eggs.]
I am happy to announce that there are now several hatched Cloud Hoppers, healthy, with a proud set of parents just as lively and active-
[—and that was a bark, followed by the sound of something loping in and half knocking into Turo from behind, the strange looking dog popping up with paws over his shoulders and panting. Head tipped so one eye was on the shellphone and the light indicating the camera was on. A bright set of feathers behind those ears bobbing a little with all of the movement.]
-and I suppose my new friend wishes to introduce herself. Has anyone here happened to have see a dog like this before?
[As said dog deliberately flopped right into his lap, tail wagging; something perhaps a little odd in how one eye remained focused sharply still on the shellphone.]
A pack of them seem to have been exploring the sanctuary grounds, peacefully at least. She is the only one to have broken off from them. I must admit that some of their markings remind me of a creature from my home region.
[...was— did the dog just huff out a small curl of fire?]

(Also, DOGS. BOOSTED DOGS. Turo can probably predict that Sidestep is gonna be coming for a visit to the Conservatory. They may, in fact, be heading over now.)

[At least he'd be easy to find.]
Text -> Action
(Yeah give it a bit and Sidestep will absolutely be showing up.)
Got a name for her yet?
Re: Text -> Action!
Both if them duel Types with one of those being Fire for each.
[Turo really was rather easy to spot, sitting easily on the ground with his lab coat just next to him so he was left in one of his usual choices of turtlenecked sweaters, the dog still sort of halfway in his lap and panting away happily.
Still, those odd eyes did still lock onto Chris as they approached, but all signs posted to being relaxed; simply watching.]
Well, I did have a thought of one while observing her since this morning. Mariposa might be fitting.

(They can only see houndoom as hound of doom, and skeledirge is a mashup of skeleton and a type of lament for the dead...
Though it sounds like they aren't as horrible as the names suggest.
Speaking of names...)
Butterfly, huh? (They look at the dog.) She's certainly colorful enough. (Black, red, different shades of each in patterns that normally only occur on insects.)

[He can't help but have an amused grin before he continues.]
However, I can't say I've ever seen anything like it, and I'm a fan of dogs and wolves myself. Does it have any unique abilities?

[Nearly every egg either recovered whole or carefully patched up if salvageable. The pair had also recovered so very well with rest and care to ensure needs were met.
His head tipped, a hand rested on the dog that remained flopped in his lap.]
It is capable of breathing fire, which keeps its body at a noticeable higher temperature, but otherwise I have yet to observe anything further. Thought it did take a very fast liking to me once it looked my way, enough so that she has not expressed want to return to the pack; even as it left sight.
no subject
But how strange she would be so attached. [He then grins.] Perhaps she found something attractive about you.
no subject
[There was a soft sort of boof from the dog there leaning against him, fingers idly scratching between those bright feathers and an ear-]
Perhaps you are correct. It was indeed strange, she simply looked at me for a long moment before breaking away. As if she had decided something.
no subject
Hopefully she doesn't see you as a future dinner.

[ He means Pokemon. ]

[Really, this dog and the pack she came from would fit rather well in the Paldea region especially.]
no subject
What other traits does she possess besides an ability to breathe fire?
[ How does she fit in the world's ecosystem? ]
no subject
Many that most domesticated dogs seem to, but there is something far more agile and a strength to many of her movements. Some sense of things, but further observation is needed there.
[All the while, ne of the dog's odd eyes remained... very focused on the phone's camera, as if watching despite the otherwise calm and content outward demeaner in tat body language.]
no subject
[ He meets the dog's eyes, wondering just how intelligent the beast is. It's at that point that Troutleap, his warrior cat, pops her head into the screen.
She's not afraid of a dog, apparently. ]

How fascinating! I have seen statues like her in my home world, but never a living creature! [Mexican, perhaps? He has never been to South America, but he recalls pictures...] Does she have a name?
Re: video
The markings do very much resemble the same patterns and overall design some statues and even wall carvings have of other creatures in my world as well. She also has some resemblance to two creatures I know of there; Houndoom and Skeledirge.
[The dog was still just so- content, leaning into Turo as fingers easily moved behind ears to offering rubbing scritches; she continued to keep one of those odd eyes focused on the phone's camera with her head tipped.]
I was thinking of calling her Mariposa, as it feels... fitting, in a way.
Re: video
What ominous names! [He chuckles, head canting just so in unconscious mimicry of the beast's interest.] Your choice is a far better fit for such a pretty girl. In my world, "mariposa" means "butterfly".
[And as well as Zenyatta knows that the Iris moves in mysterious ways, surely the suggestion is more than a coincidental string of letters?]
no subject
Houndoom is a very dog-like pokémon that holds abilities with it's dual type- Dark and Fire. [There was some easy joy there in his tone, as if it was something he simply enjoyed talking about.] With Skeledirge it has the typing of Ghost and Fire, but has very similar markings to it despite being more... alligator shaped.
[A nod then-] Spanish, yes? There are some differences, but it is very similar to the Paldean language. With how agile she moves, the leaps and bounds, in motion she very much fits that.
[—what lingered with curiosity seemed to be some sort of hope.]
no subject
Fascinating!]
I see! These "pokémon" are a kind of animal in your world, I take it? I have never heard the term. [The similarities between their universes have ended here, for now. But it is a small miracle that there are any similarities at all.] You would not happen to have any pictures of them, would you?
[It's a long shot. He's not sure how long a smartphone would last here.]

Yo...Relax dude it's just another dog...I think?!
[Petting his pup between the ears with its tongue lulled out the side of its mouth chilling out a bit now, tail wagging happily behind himself sitting at his master's side. A shit eating grin quickly forms over the teenager's face noting the familiar surrounding area Turo and the creature stood united together., knowing it all too well as Cosmo Conservatory where Eustace had brought the remainder of the dogs they saved from that rich assholes island for safekeeping.]
Sorry about that man he's just excited, I guess. Looks like the other doggos at the sanctuary have a new friend, huh?
[A beat, blinking eyed wide with a scratch to the back of his own head confusedly, gasping aloud when the 'dog' unceremoniously shoots a burst of flame out its mouth!]
Did that thing just breath fire!? That's super badass!!
no subject
Turo rested his head on her head, fingers scritching just behind an ear.]
It certainly does, and a few more if the pack she is from decides to stick around- or simply drift through now and again. They seem to be exploring the area very thoroughly.
[Mari's tail wagged a little, and as if to answer that question- another plume of flame as her head tilted back as if to howl. What better and somewhat safer way to do that? Well directed away from Turo as well.]
She is capable, which leads me to believe the rest of them can as well.
no subject
Here's hoping they stick around they are pretty cool looking and it seems like Cal wants to meet them too!
[Watching in awe as Mariposa tilts their head to the skies above and letting loose another volley of flame, Denji cannot help but smirk amusedly.]
Never heard of any dog which could shoot fire out their mouths...Maybe some kinda devil back home.
no subject
They likely could do very well here, as so far they rather observe than bother the animals one could fear a roving pack of 'wild' dogs might bother. Actually appear as if they are more guard dog than wild, and come by it naturally.
[Turo didn't mind the display, Mari simply dot another scritching when she resettled after that.]
It isn't unheard of in my own world, given the creatures there all have natural abilities very much like that. Houndoom comes to mind, a creature that is both Fire and Dark type, which resembles a dog to some larger degree.
no subject
[Denji tilting his head a bit confusedly at the mention of this other creature Turo brought up with fire and dark...types? What exactly was that supposed to mean!?]
What the hell is a Houndoom?!
